00:00Did you know the Bible had schools long before modern schools existed?
00:05God started education at home.
00:08Deuteronomy 6 says parents should teach their children diligently.
00:12When you sit, when you walk, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
00:16But there were also formal schools.
00:19The first was the school of the prophets.
00:22The prophet Samuel founded it in Ramah.
00:25The Bible says in 1 Samuel chapter 19, he led a company of prophets.
00:30Later, Elijah and Elisha continued the schools in Bethel, Jericho, and Gilgal.
00:36They were called sons of the prophets.
00:39They lived together and learned the law, worship, and how to hear God's voice.
00:44Even Paul studied under Gamaliel, the most famous teacher of his day.
00:48And Jesus himself was called rabbi, which means teacher.
00:53Because in the Bible, school was never just about gaining knowledge.
00:57Most importantly, it was about knowing God.
