Boston rap scene legend CheckMark - of Skitzofreniks - joins live, much to the delight of Christian Arcand. Check from Cambridge tells the story of how Arcand helped him get back into the recording booth (seriously!), and stories from the front lines of Boston's live music scene in its heyday. They also talk about some sports, too. CheckMark might actually be coming for Christian's job.

00:017.30 here in Boston, WEEI Christian Arcand Show, and live in studio right now.
00:07Big moment for me. This is real cool to have you in here, man.
00:10Check Mark, who you just heard rapping over the Come On Dude beat,
00:13which is his beat from Schizophrenics, in here now.
00:16That song was called Calling Arcand, Ode to the Program,
00:19and he is in here live in studio with me now.
00:21The man himself, Check Mark of the Schizos.
00:24What's up, man? How you doing?
00:25I'm telling you, brother. I'm happy to be here.
00:27I go by Check from Cambridge.
00:29Check from Cambridge.
00:30When it comes to WEEI.
00:31Okay, Check from Cambridge.
00:32Check from Schizophrenics, Central Square, in the building.
00:37Cantabridgian.
00:38Cantabridgian.
00:38Above all else, joining me here in studio.
00:41I saw you over the summer at Fenway Park.
00:44Yes.
00:45We talked a little bit. I met your son.
00:48We had a great conversation in my little studio down there.
00:52You told me that you listen to the show a lot.
00:54You've called in before.
00:55That was a big thrill for me because since I was 18 years old,
01:00I've been seeing you in concert.
01:02I've been buying your record.
01:03You were a big deal.
01:04Going to your shows was a big part.
01:06I've said this before.
01:07A big part of me and my friend's social life.
01:09It was like, you guys, you, 7L and Esoteric, Mr. Lif and Acrobatic,
01:13Ed O.G.
01:14All of them guys.
01:15Yeah.
01:15Virtuosa.
01:16All those guys.
01:17Rex.
01:18Really.
01:19I mean, it's just, it was a big, big roster back then.
01:21And that was all we really cared about.
01:23You know, that was all we did.
01:24Yeah, we're on TV.
01:25That's us right up there.
01:26Yeah.
01:26Up on YouTube and on Twitch.
01:28Yeah.
01:29So I tell you, I hope you told all your friends to tune in, by the way.
01:31I forgot.
01:32Well, okay.
01:33I was just excited to hang with you, bro.
01:34I'm excited to have you here as well.
01:36And, uh, you, you put that song together, shot a video.
01:40Was that your basement, by the way?
01:41That video?
01:42No, that's my boy Ryan's basement.
01:43I was going to say that thing.
01:44That basement's unbelievable.
01:46It's like, it's like a Boston sports museum on steroids.
01:50And it has like professional artwork in there.
01:53I don't know if you've seen, but there's paintings on the ceiling.
01:56There's a painting on the ceiling.
01:58I saw that.
01:58Dedication to his brother.
02:00There's big poppies quote from, uh, the infamous, this is.
02:05Oh, from 2013.
02:06Yeah, right.
02:06Our CD.
02:07He was selling a CD or something.
02:09Yeah, for sure.
02:10Uh, so now that I've got you in here, there's certainly the memories I want to talk about
02:16with you and with that whole scene and everything else, because it was a really a big moment.
02:20But I sort of, I sort of remember basically every weekend, there'd be a show, a national
02:27act or sometimes like, you know, a bigger act from New York.
02:30I think the first time, I don't know if it was the first time I saw you, but you remember
02:33the arsonists?
02:33Uh, I do remember the arsonists.
02:36Remember Destroy and Q Unique and all those guys?
02:37Yeah, Destroy's still doing his thing.
02:38Is he really?
02:39Yeah.
02:39That's really good to hear.
02:41That's really good to hear.
02:42I love them.
02:43So we went to go see them.
02:44I didn't realize we performed with them.
02:45You're right.
02:45I think you might've opened up for them.
02:47And that was the first time I saw you and it was just, oh, it was, you know, you just
02:50sort of fall in love with stuff at that.
02:52You know what I mean?
02:52Like you, you're really getting into music and, uh, all of that.
02:55And you guys were just such a big part of that.
02:57I love it.
02:58From your, from your perspective, did it, did it seem as big to you as it did the people
03:03like us, you know, to the fans who were there?
03:04Cause there was a lot of packed shows all over the city in that time.
03:08Dude, we loved it.
03:09And we were, we didn't realize at the time that we were breaking ground, but we did.
03:13We, um, all I ever wanted to do was make music so it could get played on the radio.
03:20And then the shows were extra because the shows were where we got to be around the people
03:25and have a fun and encouraging people to maybe spend money at the bars that we were in, you
03:32know, leading by example, spending money at the bars we were in, but we had a blast,
03:37bro.
03:38And it meant as much to us as it did to everybody that was there for sure.
03:41And it means a lot to me that it meant that much to you considering how great you are at
03:45what you do.
03:46Well, thank you very much.
03:47That's nice.
03:47That's very nice of you to say, uh, you and a lot of the other guy, I mean, just in
03:52terms
03:52of like stage presence, you know, I, you always stood out like you really always stood out
03:58to me doing what comes naturally.
04:00Yeah.
04:00You just had stage presence, vocal presence, all of that.
04:04That's just, I thought to me, and there was a lot of other great MCs, obviously, but you
04:09stood out for those sort of reasons.
04:10Did you, like everybody was very competitive.
04:13I knew I was that good.
04:13You knew you were that good.
04:14I mean, you thought so, right?
04:16I believed in it.
04:17Yeah.
04:17You know, it's like, I loved it.
04:19I've always wanted to make music my whole life.
04:21And I like being on stage.
04:23I like performing.
04:24I like, um, I like showing that I believe what I'm saying.
04:29And that comes out, you know, while you perform it, if it's real, it's easy.
04:33What was the biggest moment you had with the schizos and like the, in the heyday?
04:37Would you say?
04:38My biggest moment ever was getting to do a song with the person that inspired me to
04:43rap, which was Big Daddy King.
04:44Remember that song?
04:45That was my favorite.
04:46And, and ironically, as soon as I finished, like as soon as, so the record came out, um,
04:52it was an honor for me to be able to do it.
04:55And as soon as it came out the first week, it charted number one on the college music
05:00charged college, CMJs.
05:02I used to vote on those CMJs when I was in college.
05:04Yeah.
05:04We played that song on my college radio show.
05:06That's awesome.
05:07But yeah.
05:07So after I did that song and I kind of did all right on the song, um, and my mom
05:13heard
05:14the song, my mom passed recently.
05:15I mean, not recently, soon after that, like her lat, like she heard G spin play it on
05:2294.5 and it was like, she passed soon after.
05:25But after I did that record, I was like, to me, that was like the pinnacle.
05:30I was good.
05:31I didn't, I was like, I did a song on my idol.
05:33I don't got to do any more songs.
05:35Yeah.
05:35Uh, you, when, and then you decided I have to do a song about this radio show.
05:39Yeah.
05:40Like this has to happen.
05:42And you know, what's funny is you don't even remember it correctly because you asked
05:46me if I would rap for, for your show.
05:50Oh yeah.
05:50I was calling it to talk about the red sauce.
05:52So acrobatic calls in, well, he doesn't call into Greg Hill show, but every Friday, right?
05:56Every Friday he does like a week rapper.
05:58Like he's a mad skills.
06:00Remember mad skills used to do that every year.
06:01He'd like rap about what happened that year.
06:03Acro does that every Friday about what happened that week in the Boston sports.
06:07And Hillman was like a rock DJ, you know, like with the AAF all those years, not as much
06:12of a hip hop guy.
06:13I know Wiggy is, uh, but Curtis, I don't think is, and I'm not sure about Courtney.
06:16She may or may not be.
06:17I have no idea.
06:18Do you expect anyone outside of Wiggy to be into that style of music?
06:21Well, I am.
06:22I mean, I don't know.
06:23Yeah.
06:23And producer Joe, the hip hop of W.E.I.
06:28Yeah.
06:28I think the Joe with the big Jesus piece.
06:30I mean, you can tell, you can tell what he's all about back there.
06:33Uh, but yeah, so he does that.
06:35And that's a big, everybody liked it.
06:37And I was like, man, you know, I, I know a guy, I know a rapper too.
06:40And so that we talked about that, but it never really went anywhere.
06:42Yeah.
06:42But once you've said it, I said that I was down.
06:45Meanwhile, I hadn't recorded a song in years.
06:48Yeah.
06:49So I had to.
06:49How long?
06:50I know you had like another, like out like a concept album, right?
06:53Yeah.
06:53I did some stuff.
06:55I did, um, I did two projects in like 2010, 2011, and they sat in my computer until COVID.
07:04Okay.
07:04And in COVID, I had this like realization that it's doing no good to sit in my computer.
07:10So I put them out then, but putting it out just means you just make it available on streaming.
07:14But actually recording, I probably went 15 years.
07:19Really?
07:20Actually, no, that's not right.
07:21Cause I did a bunch of features.
07:22I've done like a bunch of features on Slane's projects.
07:25Oh yeah.
07:26You and Slane go back a long way.
07:27That's my boy, man.
07:28Yeah.
07:29He's one of my best friends.
07:29It's a Hollywood, Hollywood Slane.
07:31Dude.
07:32Slane is that dude.
07:33And he's earned every accolade.
07:35Yeah.
07:35No question about it.
07:36So what, when did you, when did you decide?
07:38All right.
07:39All right.
07:39It's time to make, it's time to get back in the studio.
07:41And not only that, I wanted you really because of you.
07:44Cause you asked me if I would do something for the show.
07:47So then I went to DJ real drama, shout to my man drama.
07:51I went to his house and I did it.
07:52Wow.
07:53And it was like that.
07:54I mean, I took forever to write.
07:56Cause that was some, you know, some heart, heartfelt lyrics that I put together.
08:00And you had to capture the voice of producer Joe too, which is like method acting.
08:04You know, you're like Daniel Day-Lewis basically.
08:06Dude.
08:07It was like looking in a mirror, right?
08:10Yeah.
08:10We just got to spike your hair up a little bit.
08:12For those who don't know in the video, that's check marks, a sunny boy who plays the role
08:15of Joe Braverman's first feature role.
08:17I'd say in the music video.
08:19Yeah.
08:19Is that right?
08:19Yes.
08:20And we'll actually, no, he was in my, he was in, um, I did a song called thanks for
08:24life.
08:25That was a dedication to my father and thanking him for, for getting me started on this journey.
08:31And, uh, my son was in that video, but he couldn't even hold his head up yet.
08:34He was, uh, he was like a month old and I had him already working on his acting skills.
08:40Cool.
08:40But, um, yeah, he's going for a SAG card.
08:42Really?
08:43Yeah.
08:43Just playing, playing Joe.
08:45There's nothing, nothing bad ever happens with child actors too.
08:48I think that's a great, a great path to set him off with a rapper dad.
08:52Yeah.
08:52No question.
08:53So wait, you were out of the studio for 15 years.
08:55How did you, how did you function?
08:56That's a long time.
08:57You're a natural MC.
08:59How'd you do that?
08:59How'd you stay away that long?
09:00I think that, um, well, I know why I stopped.
09:04So I stopped to make him.
09:05So when you were coming out to the shows, my focus and my, my content was, was a lot
09:13of encouraging and entertaining college men to have fun.
09:20Really was.
09:21Now, did you feel like pigeonholed by that?
09:23No, not at all.
09:24No, not at all.
09:24That's all I was doing.
09:25I was, I was a college dropout.
09:27There was, you know, entertaining you guys.
09:29It worked good because college, college radio was very supportive.
09:33And like we went, we did a lot.
09:36You guys were on ERS a lot.
09:37Yeah.
09:38But we were on college radio across the country too.
09:41But, um, but, um, where was I going with that?
09:45So when, oh, the thing that got me to stop was I had a daughter and I listened to a
09:50couple
09:51of my songs and I said, dude, I can't, I can't, I can't.
09:55I don't want her hair in this stuff.
09:56So for me, it was kind of, I kind of just pushed it away for a long time.
10:01But then recently, how do they feel about it now?
10:04My daughter loves it.
10:06My daughter loves my music.
10:07She listens to the old stuff.
10:08That's great.
10:09I send her stuff as soon as it's done.
10:12So, but we've been, I've been gung ho since we did this song.
10:15That's great.
10:15I've been in the studio all the time.
10:17I'm like, I got a lot of projects in the works and it's all like you started it.
10:22What can I say?
10:23I mean, listen, the arc can show a lot of special things happen on these airwaves, but resurrecting
10:27the career of the checkmark and this guy, that's, I mean, honestly, I know, I know we're
10:31a little tongue in cheek.
10:31During the break, I'll come in and pat you on your back.
10:34Please do Joe.
10:34Yes.
10:35No, this is real, bro.
10:36It's not, I haven't said anything dishonest yet.
10:38Like you, you got it started.
10:40You, you reminded me actually.
10:42And you know, what's funny too after you, so you had suggested on the air that I do
10:47what Acro was doing.
10:49And I was like, yeah, yeah, I'll do it.
10:50As soon as we got off the phone, I called Ac.
10:52I was like, Doug, you're going to end up hearing about this.
10:54So just so you know, because you also ended it with, you wanted to checkmark an Acro battle.
10:59Yeah.
11:00You ended it with that.
11:01Yeah.
11:01And I told Ac, I'm like, just so you know, I don't want you to think people are hyping
11:05stuff up, but you know, somebody suggested that I take over what you were doing.
11:10And he was like, go for it.
11:11Really?
11:11And he was like, yeah, he was like, and I was like, but I haven't recorded in forever.
11:14He told me where to record.
11:16He told me to start getting my reps up.
11:18That was his word.
11:19I was a huge fan of Acro battle.
11:21It certainly is.
11:22Yeah.
11:22Now you can't get me to stop talking or writing.
11:25I was a huge fan of Acrobat.
11:27Him and Lyft together, the Perceptionist and those guys.
11:29I remember going to a show and I got there kind of late, right?
11:32And Acro was up there.
11:33He's rapping.
11:34You know that song he has, Woman?
11:36Put up your hand if you're a real woman.
11:37You threw your hands up?
11:38I didn't know.
11:39I didn't know the song.
11:40So I got there.
11:41I'm late.
11:41I see my friends.
11:42I go, I say, what's up?
11:43And we walk over and he's going, put up your hand.
11:45I was like, all right, put up my hand.
11:47He goes, put up your hand if you're a real woman.
11:49I was like, oh, damn.
11:50I was like 17.
11:52I felt like a real jackass.
11:54Anyway, you know, that's what happens when you're an awkward teenager.
11:57Now I'm an awkward 44 year old.
11:58It's not really any different these days.
12:00Can I tell you how awesome you are, what you do for a living?
12:03Sure.
12:04By all means, please.
12:05Like, look, you're not even used to somebody interrupting you.
12:08It's true.
12:08Because you just have to do this by yourself.
12:10All these other radio guys.
12:12The only difference is he's actually listening to you.
12:15That's true.
12:15He doesn't listen to me.
12:16Yeah, I don't listen to Joe.
12:17Joe doesn't listen to me either.
12:18Well, yeah.
12:19The feeling's mutual.
12:21We got to get you some vocal training.
12:24Yeah, why not?
12:25You can do it.
12:26You can train.
12:26But people, all the other shows, they have people that they have crutches and they can
12:31help each other out.
12:32And you just got to keep going.
12:33And even when the teams are bad, when we know the Red Sox.
12:37Those first two months.
12:38Dude, brutal.
12:40But you stuck it out?
12:41I tried.
12:41I tried.
12:42And then they got good.
12:42So it was easier to talk about.
12:43Let's talk some sports.
12:44What do you say?
12:45We've been talking hip hop for 10 minutes here.
12:47Let's talk some sports.
12:48Red Sox season is over.
12:50Celtics just started.
12:51And the Patriots in full swing.
12:52We can be able to talk some Bruins if you want.
12:54You a hockey fan?
12:55Yeah.
12:55All right.
12:55We'll get to that too.
12:56We'll get to everything with Checkmark in studio.
12:59Check from Cambridge.
13:00Here for one more segment on the Christian Arcand Show.
13:02And we're live in studio with Checkmark, Schizophrenics, Check from Cambridge joining us here.
13:06Yeah.
13:07I remember you being, and still probably are, a big Jay-Z fan, right?
13:10Yeah.
13:11What do you think about Jay-Z picking himself to do the halftime show?
13:13I mean, he worked his whole life to get to that spot to be able to do that.
13:17I guess.
13:17Good for him.
13:18Good for him.
13:18I would pick me.
13:19You would pick yourself?
13:20I mean, yeah, maybe.
13:22Depends on what day it falls.
13:23I wouldn't do it on Valentine's Day.
13:25That's not fair to his wife.
13:26That's tough.
13:27Yeah.
13:27You know?
13:27Well, she's probably going to be out there with him.
13:29Yeah.
13:29That's the thing.
13:30Like, Jay-Z, you can have anybody come out with Jay-Z.
13:32He's got songs with everybody who's ever recorded anything.
13:35Right.
13:35Except me.
13:36Actually, you got a song with me, too.
13:37I'm going to send it to you.
13:38Oh, yeah?
13:38Okay.
13:39I made it myself, but it's fire.
13:42He doesn't know about it.
13:43No, he don't know about it.
13:45Yeah.
13:46So, you go back a long way, obviously, in Boston sports.
13:50Yes.
13:50Right now, we have a Red Sox season that ended.
13:53Not a great ending to that season.
13:55What do you think of this World Series here?
13:56Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers.
13:59No Red Sox, no Yankees, no Dodgers, no big market.
14:02Is that bad for Major League Baseball?
14:03The worst part about it is that it's going to make the Red Sox feel like it's okay to be
14:09cheap.
14:10You know?
14:10If they can get by.
14:11Because the cheap team won.
14:12Yeah.
14:12I mean, I was glad to see the Dodgers lose after the Yankees lost, because obviously we wanted the Yankees
14:17to lose the most.
14:19Yeah.
14:19But, yeah, I think that it confirms that you can get it done without spending the money, but you also
14:27need to have them programs that they have.
14:29Because those guys, the way that they're building pitching staffs, and the guys stay healthy, unlike here.
14:36You know, you've got to spend some money, but you've also got to have the right people in place to
14:42be able to make the team run.
14:43You do, and I don't know if you saw this, but with the coaches, they're going to bring back some
14:47of the coaches,
14:47but they're not really letting Chad Tracy go out and assemble a coaching staff.
14:51And they're like, oh, McAdam, I think, wrote that they're in a hiring freeze.
14:55It's like, how can the hiring freeze?
14:57That's like a radio thing.
14:58Like, you know?
14:59I've heard radio stations tell me, oh, sorry, there's nothing open right now.
15:02We're in a hiring freeze because of the industry or whatever.
15:05But I figured Major League Baseball was doing okay.
15:07The Red Sox were probably doing okay enough that they don't need to have a hiring freeze unless they know
15:12there's not going to be baseball next year.
15:13And I think that's probably what we're talking about.
15:16And I remember in 94, you know, I remember that that stride was 12 years old, and that was devastating.
15:21And I think what sucks the most, and you have a son who's into baseball, you're really having a resurgence
15:26with young people in baseball.
15:28And now it's all going to go right down the toilet because they can't get their act together with the
15:32CBA.
15:32Yeah, and as limited as people's attention spans are these days, you do not want them to forget about baseball
15:39because they might not come back.
15:40Yeah, no question about it.
15:42What do you think of Drake May so far?
15:44I think he looked great the past three games.
15:47I was worried.
15:48Were you off the bandwagon?
15:50I was so off.
15:51I was so off.
15:52I was like, something's still wrong from last year.
15:55I was like, something.
15:56Yeah.
15:57He looks great.
15:58Yeah, he does.
15:59Right now, short week.
16:01Caleb Williams.
16:02Yeah, this is going to be the real test.
16:04We'll see.
16:05If the Patriots win tomorrow night, we got a real team.
16:08If we lose tomorrow night, it's kind of expected
16:11because Chicago looks like they're the truth.
16:13Yeah, they do look pretty good.
16:14I think for me with the Patriots, the hardest part to square here is that we just get extremes.
16:20Right?
16:20We haven't gotten just a regular game.
16:22You know, it's either Drake May playing the best you've ever seen in your life or the opposite of that.
16:27We've seen the best and, I think, worst games of his career this year.
16:30And I just want to see him play some normal game.
16:32Can you just be normal?
16:33I wanted the Red Sox to be normal, too.
16:35Like, this year, the Red Sox went from being horrible to being the best team I've ever seen in my
16:40entire life
16:41and then back to being sort of, you know, whatever.
16:43But, like, can you just be normal?
16:44Can Drake May just be normal for a couple weeks and win games, obviously?
16:48But can he do it like a normal guy?
16:49Did you just make a metaphor for Boston?
16:51I did.
16:52Where everything is extreme.
16:54Yeah.
16:54That's pretty fitting.
16:56It's kind of true.
16:56You know, we go from one extreme to the other.
16:58We do it with our seasons, with the weather.
17:00Mm-hmm.
17:01You know, our politicians, our driving skills.
17:05Yeah.
17:06You know?
17:06We walk fast.
17:07We talk fast.
17:07We drive fast.
17:08Yeah.
17:08I lived in the Midwest for a while.
17:09I lived in Colorado.
17:10I went to school there.
17:11And that's the thing you notice right away is how in that part of the country especially,
17:16everything just, people will talk to you and they'll say well,
17:20and then they'll pause where the comma after well would be.
17:23And they turn off.
17:24And yeah, no one does that here, you know?
17:26Like, no one pauses for the comma in Boston.
17:27You just got to talk.
17:28Like, you can't, you know, I grew up talking, having to talk.
17:31You just got to.
17:31They speak in grammar.
17:32Right.
17:33You got to say what you got to say.
17:34Now, you also, along with being an emcee, have been cutting hair for a long time.
17:39You had a barbershop.
17:40You still have a barbershop now.
17:42Well, I work in a barbershop now.
17:45Kind of.
17:46Okay.
17:46So I only do it part-time.
17:47I actually work in personal injury law.
17:50Oh, is that right?
17:51Yeah, five years.
17:52For who?
17:53I can't say.
17:53All right, fine.
17:54Sorry, you don't have to tell me.
17:54I can't say, but my friends should call me if they ever need help, if they ever get in the
17:59car.
17:59All right.
18:00I absolutely will.
18:01Because I don't want to disrespect the wall.
18:02Of course.
18:03You know?
18:04Okay.
18:04So I work with the best personal injury attorneys in the state.
18:10Oh, very good to hear.
18:11Let me say that.
18:11So if you know who they are, then you know who I work for.
18:13And if you don't, then let me know.
18:16All right.
18:17Very good.
18:17Well, the reason I brought up the barbershop is because for years before I was doing this full-time, I
18:23was bartending.
18:24And you do sort of miss the face-to-face, you know, like the social aspect of jobs like that.
18:29Because a job like this on the radio is just me and Joe.
18:32You know?
18:32I love Joe.
18:33Joe's my guy.
18:34But it's just that.
18:35It's the only person I see every night.
18:37And you sort of lose that inter...
18:39You know what I mean?
18:39Like it's in the barbershop.
18:41It's kind of the same thing.
18:41Yeah, I totally just went left when you were throwing me an alley-oop.
18:45So yes, I've worked in a barbershop my whole adult life.
18:49Right.
18:49And now I do it two days a week just because of the interaction with my friends.
18:54And it keeps me in my community.
18:56And it's my social time.
18:58Yeah.
18:58You know?
18:59At least before I started making music again.
19:01And now I'm not going to have any time for anything.
19:03But yeah.
19:04The barbershop lifestyle is similar to the lifestyle of a bartender where you got to hear everybody's problems.
19:11And you got to also make them feel good.
19:13Yeah.
19:14You know?
19:14It's a service industry too.
19:16You know?
19:16You got to make them look good.
19:17You make them feel good.
19:18All that.
19:18No question.
19:19You got to have the personality.
19:20And another funny thing too about my past as an artist.
19:24I never told my barbershop clients that I made music.
19:27Really?
19:28Yeah.
19:28And if you look, none of our records had our faces on them.
19:31And I never told...
19:32That wasn't you getting arrested in the...
19:34No, that was Bones.
19:35Rest in peace.
19:36Rest in peace to him.
19:37He was hilarious, man.
19:38I also never told my hip-hop fans.
19:42That I was a barber.
19:43Because I didn't want them coming through to talk music.
19:47I'm here to work.
19:48I got a haircut from you once.
19:49You told me that.
19:51That's crazy.
19:52Because I didn't know.
19:52Yeah.
19:53Yeah.
19:53That fired up.
19:54Why'd you never go back, Arkan?
19:56It was far away from where I lay.
19:58Like, you were over by, like...
19:59Cambridge.
20:00Yeah, Kendall Square area, right?
20:01Or Inman Square.
20:02That's what it was.
20:02I'm not a good barber for everybody out there.
20:05All I do is talk good.
20:06I'll entertain you and charge you money for it.
20:08Very good.
20:09Come through.
20:10What'd you think Celtics last night?
20:13Opening...
20:13Well, day, I guess.
20:14Shout to Point Blank.
20:16Say again?
20:17Shout to Point Blank.
20:18Point Blank.
20:18Cambridge, Massachusetts.
20:19Very nice.
20:20One of my original partners.
20:21Him and Capital A.
20:22When it comes to the Boston sports teams, where do you rank them in terms of, like, who
20:26are you most into?
20:27How does it go for you?
20:29Are they all equal?
20:30Nah, the Red Sox.
20:31Red Sox, number one.
20:31I'm diehard Red Sox.
20:33And then, I guess the Celtics.
20:38But then the Patriots.
20:39I mean, it's all the same.
20:41You know?
20:42To me, it's whatever's on.
20:44I love them all.
20:45Okay.
20:45Our Boston team.
20:47Yeah, the Bruins.
20:47You go to more Red Sox games than anything else, though, right?
20:50Yes.
20:50Absolutely.
20:50Okay.
20:51Absolutely.
20:52I love Fenway.
20:52It's like my second home.
20:54It literally is my second home.
20:56This summer, it really was.
20:57Yeah, it was.
20:57I was there.
20:58I was there every night.
20:59I had so much fun.
21:00It was great, yeah.
21:00But for the audience out there, Christian Arkan was so kind to me and my son.
21:05He let us come into the studio, tour the studio, and watch the game for a few.
21:09And I watched this man not speak to us at all, watching the TV like a maniac, because
21:15he knew he had to report on it as soon as the game ended.
21:18I talked to you a little bit.
21:19You were working.
21:20Then I realized it.
21:21That was awesome.
21:22Well, you know, I had nothing to do between pre and post game.
21:25I love that.
21:25So I just wander around the park and annoy people.
21:27It's basically, unless I have a friend or someone come by, I'll show them around.
21:30But other than that, I just kind of float around bothering people.
21:34Dude, if I could get paid for watching the game and talking about it, I would add a fourth
21:40job.
21:41All right.
21:42So if you could find something for me.
21:43All right.
21:44Well, you're not taking this game.
21:45I need this one.
21:46I got kids.
21:47Just kidding.
21:48All right.
21:48Hey, listen, Chuck, it's great to have you in here, man.
21:50Really, really cool.
21:51Thank you so much for coming through.
21:53And we'll do this again sometime real soon.
21:54Love the song.
21:55And love that I got to talk to you like this.
21:57This is awesome.
21:58It's all my pleasure.
21:59All right.
22:00Check them out.
22:01Check Mark.
22:01Give them your social so they can find you on everywhere.
22:04Check Mark 2015 or Schizophrenics on everything.
22:09All right.
22:09And that Schizophrenics spell S-K-I-T-Z-O-F-R-E-N-I-K-S.
22:14Yes.
22:15Look at you.
22:15Or you could just look at Arkan's Instagram because he's always shouting us out, too.
22:21Absolutely, I am.
22:22And we'll have clips from this all posted and everything.
22:24Thanks so much for coming through, man.
22:25It was really cool.
22:26That's awesome.
22:26You're the best.
22:27All right.
22:27Check Mark.
22:27Mark Skitzo is joining me here in studio.
22:29Going to make his way on out of here.
22:31The show will continue.
22:32We'll talk Patriots and the Bears.
22:34What Mike Vrabel had to say today at his press conference.
22:36I'll have that for you here in just a moment.
22:38Two minutes and we're right back here on the Arkan Show.
22:40I'm Galen, co-founder of Brooklyn.
22:42We'll see you next night.
22:42See you next time.
22:42Thanks.
