00:06video, please consider subscribing for more videos like this. Now today I've got
00:11the Nostalgia Snow Cone Maker. It's a retro style snow cone maker that lets you
00:16make 20 snow cones at a time. But does it really work? Let's find out in today's
00:27review. The snow cone maker itself comes with two plastic snow cone holders, the
00:32retro unit itself. This kit I bought has different syrups, 20 disposable snow cone
00:38holders, and it has straws as well. So I think the total investment on this was
00:43about maybe 45 bucks. Recently I also did another product by Nostalgia, their
00:48breakfast station maker, which I'll link above if you want to see that one.
00:52Because that one went over so well, I figured I'd do another one from Nostalgia.
00:55The snow cone maker seemed like a great fit for the middle of summer. So let's
00:58crack this thing open and start making snow cones. Look how cute. Aww. Well it says,
01:06do not turn the wheels, decorative only. Oh well. It's a nice thought at least. Well
01:11that's an attractive looking unit if I've ever seen one, I think. It says old
01:14fashioned carnival snow cones. Very cool. So I guess the next thing I'll do is clean
01:18it off, read the instructions, and then get started. I'll show you everything
01:21disassembled before I get started. This was the accessory kit here that has 20
01:26straws, 20 disposable cone holders, three flavors. You got cotton candy, blue
01:32raspberry, and cherry. It says it holds about 28 ounce cones. You've got a place
01:37here to hold two cones on the side actually. This is the shaving canister, the
01:41top of the unit, a couple of reusable plastic cones, and you got the scoop. So let me put
01:46this thing back together and see how it really works. Something I noticed on the
01:50top here it says do not use for more than five minutes at a time. So that's
01:54something I got to keep in mind as well. Also the instructions note that with the
01:57ice cubes to make sure they're translucent and wet to touch, which these
02:00are not yet, because it says otherwise the ice will be too hard. So I got to wait
02:03for this. There's the on off button. What happens is you just put put this lid on
02:07and that's when it starts. So as soon as these ice cubes thaw a little bit I'll be
02:11ready to go. I think my ice cubes are about ready here. Let's do this. I guess
02:18this is right. It feels right. They also say not to overfill this so that you have
02:23room to close the lid on. We'll definitely not do that. All right. I think that's
02:26about as much as it's gonna hold. Are we ready for the big test? Here we go. And, oh!
02:40Oh wow. Show you a close-up here.
02:49Whoa! That was actually very quick. Let me get my trusty included scoop here. Open the
02:55little door. Oh how cute.
02:59Oh yeah. This is legit, man. I'm not a professional snow cone maker so excuse my
03:07lack of skill here. Oops. Don't cringe. I've never done this before. I guess I'll
03:14try the kids' favorite which is always cotton candy, right? Let's try that one.
03:21I'm not real sure how much to put on there but they give you the straw of these
03:26cool scoops at the end which I used to have when I was a kid. This definitely
03:29brings back memories. Here we go. Let's try it out.
03:38Mmm. Wow. That brings back memories. It's pretty quick. It didn't take that long.
03:43I'll add a little more syrup. Let me give you a closer look at what the ice
03:47consistency is. It's definitely not like shaved ice. That usually comes from a block.
03:52It's a little bit more coarse but it still works. Let me show you. It's not as
03:56fine as shaved ice but it's certainly, it's certainly good enough for a snow cone.
04:00I might just try right there a spoon.
04:06Mmm. Now as I'm eating my first snow cone I'm noticing this is melted in here.
04:11I'm not really sure what to do about that. But I want to make some more before that happens.
04:23Some fresh ice looks very nice.
04:28I'm gonna make a snowball out of this. I think I got a snowball. Look.
04:33Wow. That's a welcome sight here in the middle of August. Oh, I just dropped it.
04:37I'll be the lucky one. Bailey. Ready?
04:41She caught it. There she goes. Oh. I think Bailey likes it. She doesn't even need any syrup on there.
04:47It looks like each batch of ice is about maybe three snow cones. Two. Two big ones. Maybe three.
04:52I want to try some old school Coke on the ice.
05:00Now that looks pretty good. A Coke snow cone. Maybe I'll use one of my steel straws on this one.
05:07It tastes like Coke. I'm gonna try a third round of this because I got plenty of ice made.
05:12These larger cubes actually aren't as well as the smaller ones I had. This ice cube tray made smaller
05:17cubes. This one makes bigger cubes. The bigger cubes are taking up more space. I'm not getting as many
05:21in there than the smaller cubes did. Something to keep in mind. There we go.
05:36It's pretty quick. I'll say that. It's very quick.
05:40See I got a couple here that did not, didn't go. I'm gonna shuffle them around and try again.
05:47It's not whisper quiet. I wouldn't say it's whisper quiet. But it only takes about 30 seconds to make
05:52a batch of these. You can probably get about three snow cones out of each one. So it depends on
05:56how
05:56many people you're trying to give snow cones to, how efficient that will be. I'm gonna use one of
06:00their disposable snow cone cups and see how that works. I guess that's, that's about as good as I've
06:13gotten so far. While I'm getting the syrup ready, I can hold this here. That's what this is for.
06:18Very nice. Now I'm gonna try the old school cherry. You know, kids are pretty forgiving about this kind
06:26of stuff. If you don't put enough, they don't, I don't think they really care so much. They're kids,
06:31right? You're giving them a snow cone. They're gonna be happy. All right. Now time for the cherry
06:35snow cone. Let's see how that one turned out.
06:41Mmm. I definitely remember eating this flavor when I was a kid. Too bad there's nobody here to
06:44share this with. I guess there's just more for me, right? Sorry Bailey, none for you. You already
06:48had your snowball. I think so far this nostalgia snow cone maker is working exactly as advertised.
06:54I have no complaints about this so far. One thing that's kind of funny is they, is these straws,
06:59and these are definitely cool for snow cones, but the spoon is so small it'll take you about an hour
07:03to scoop all the ice out of here. It could be some plot from parents to keep kids occupied longer
07:08at parties. I don't know, but it's kind of funny how small that spoon is. I'd probably just use this
07:12bad boy and plow through this in a few seconds. Hey look who's here everybody. Brannon used to be
07:19the cameraman. Now he's got his own channel and works all the time so I hardly ever see him.
07:23Sorry. So Brannon's gonna try using it real quick. Just have someone else try it who's never used it
07:28before and see how it goes. So I'm going to grab the camera. I'm going to be the cameraman on
07:32the X
07:32cameraman. All right you ready X cameraman? I'm ready for some snow cones. Scooping the ice cubes.
07:39That's the important first step.
07:43Yep and as soon as you turn that it's going to start making ice.
08:00Very cool.
08:01Yeah.
08:11Oops. I did the exact same thing.
08:15I did the same thing.
08:20You can't put too much. Just keep going. That's good. There you go. You're not going to overdose
08:25on blue raspberry. I don't think. Oh so you opted for an old school spoon instead of one of these.
08:32I didn't see those. Yeah those were part of the kit. Oops. That's all right. Well how is it?
08:38That's a snow cone. Yeah. Pretty good.
08:42I'm proud of my baby boy made the ball by himself. That's right. That's right. He's a man now.
08:48But it was it was pretty easy right? Yeah. Very simple. I've never used this before. I didn't even
08:52see him review this because I've been so busy and it was really a three-step process. Yeah it's pretty
08:58simple. So all right well thank you for your help. Now get out of here all right. I got to
09:01wrap this thing
09:02up. All right well kind of a short video today guys. The snow cone maker was pretty successful. That's the
09:07reason I don't really feel like I need to go on. I've used it quite a few times. It's worked
09:10every
09:11time. The pros are obvious because it pretty much works as you would expect it to. The only real con
09:17maybe would be that you can only use it for five minutes continuously at a time. If you're at a
09:21party
09:21with a line of kids waiting for it might take a while but that's nitpicky. I think that the snow
09:25cone maker, I think I paid 26, 27 dollars for it and the kit was about 18. Really not that
09:31bad.
09:32There's a snow cone place down the street here. Not shaved ice. That is different but snow cones and
09:37it's like five bucks per cone. So something like this at a party would actually pay for itself over
09:42the old school way. Have you guys used a home snow cone maker like this? Tell me what you think
