00:01Police discovered the body of a 48 year old man here in the 7th Brigade Park in
00:06Chermside in Brisbane's North on Sunday. Police were in the area because of a
00:12vicious dog mauling on the Friday beforehand when a 37 year old man was
00:17attacked by two dogs while jogging through the park. He was left with severe
00:22arm and facial injuries. Yesterday police said that owing to the
00:27decomposition of the body. It was very difficult to tell how the 48 year old
00:30man died. However they said they couldn't rule out that a dog attack was also
00:35responsible for that man's death. Now they believe that the man died around the
00:40same time as the dog mauling occurred on Friday and hoping that anyone who was in
00:46the area at the time sometime between 4 and 6 p.m. might be able to assist them
00:50with their investigations into his death. Now as for the two dogs responsible for
00:55the dog mauling on Friday they were very difficult to apprehend. Police confirmed
01:00yesterday that two officers each fired one shot at the dogs to try and subdue
01:05them and to protect the public. However the dogs still run off and it took a while
01:09for them to be finally captured and handed over to the Brisbane City Council. They
01:13are very likely to be put down in the not too distant future. Now as for the 37 year
01:19old jogger who was attacked he is still in hospital recovering from his injuries
01:23which police described as horrific. The officers who responded first responded to
01:29his attack on Friday have been praised for offering him first aid while the dogs
01:34were still loose and apparently still trying to attack him. His condition is now
01:39considered stable.
