00:00East Potomac Golf Links has been Washington's public golf course for more than a century.
00:04Starting November 15th, Trump says it'll close for 15 months to become a championship course.
00:09Another D.C. construction project, another legal battle. Here's what's happening.
00:13Yesterday, Trump posted a rendering of the redesign, saying it could host the Ryder Cup.
00:18The post says it'll reopen to the public, but it doesn't say what it will cost to play.
00:23When asked on Fox News, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum avoided the question of cost as well.
00:28A preservation group and two golfers sued back in February, saying the plan violates federal law.
00:34Two days earlier, Justice Department lawyers told Judge Anna Reyes the plan wasn't final.
00:38At most, they said Trump had given it preliminary thought.
00:41Reyes ordered them to confirm whether that still stood.
00:45They said it did, arguing courts can't review a redesign.
00:48The fight is also about trees.
00:50In May, Reyes ordered the government to get court approval before cutting more than 10 trees.
00:55On October 9th, minutes before courts closed for the holiday weekend,
00:59the National Park Service told the court it planned to cut up to 529 trees.
01:04By the end of the next day, at least 430 were cut down.
01:08Trump's post calls the course's trees falling, dangerous, and disease-infested.
01:12The preservation group says crews cut healthy oaks and maples.
01:16Reyes has since banned any more cutting through October 26th.
01:19Today, Trump called Reyes a crazed lunatic and said Interior has an absolute right to do the work.
01:25So what do you think?
01:26Does a court order mean anything if the work happens first and the consequences come later?
