A bit of history: let me introduce you to Bedford, a British truck brand founded in 1931 as part of Bucks Old Motors, owned by General Motors. Its operations were based in Luton, England, and the company became known for producing trucks, buses, and military vehicles throughout the 1940s and 1950s.
It was one of the best‑selling brands in the United Kingdom and across several Commonwealth countries, with iconic models such as the Bedford TJ and TK, which many enthusiasts still recognize instantly.
In the 1980s, increasing competition and declining sales led GM to sell the truck division to AWD in 1986, a move that marked the beginning of the end. The brand ultimately disappeared in 1991.
Even so, some Bedfords are still on the road in emerging markets and appear in classic vehicle collections. Had you heard of it?
