00:30I'm here in the heart of Paris, just steps away from the Place de la République, and as you can
00:35see behind me, the fire is raging.
00:38What started off as peaceful demonstrations in Paris has descended into scenes of violence.
00:44Myself and my cameraman were attacked earlier on the Coupin Argentin, which is just simply steps away from where I
00:49am,
00:50as rioters looted a supermarket at Darnachet, seeking to hit and open the shop with a hammer.
00:57We were in circles and rioters took our camera before eventually giving it back and hit and tried to physically
01:06assault us,
01:08but we managed to get away because some in the group let us leave.

01:48Euronews' Valery Gurria reports from the ground.
01:51To say the least, I had to walk out of the square for a while. I got quite a fair
01:58dose of tear gas a few minutes ago.
02:01And you see here, the atmosphere is really a bit surrealistic.
02:06You see demonstrators taking pictures in front of the riot police, who are standing by pretty quietly,
02:14whilst other groups back on the square are launching sporadic attacks against what they deem more aggressive demonstrators.
02:24And you have a mix between, indeed, angry demonstrators and very cheerful ones singing, chanting.
02:32For now, everybody seems to be quite stuck and jammed and going in every sort of direction around the Place
02:40de la République.
02:40So, we'll see how this will unfold.
02:44Valerie Gurria in Paris, Euronews.

03:46Students and other protesters gathered outside the Ministry of Education on Saturday,
03:51as anti-government demonstrations entered their fifth consecutive day.
03:54The protests, which have spread to cities across Albania,
03:58intensified after high school and university students joined a broader movement calling for Socialist Prime Minister Eddie Rama's resignation over
04:06allegations of corruption.
04:07The wider movement has been fueled in part by opposition to a controversial luxury tourism development linked to U.S.
04:14President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

04:21but warned that masked individuals inciting chaos, vandalizing, looting and committing crimes would be detained and prosecuted.
