A Republican lawmaker from Louisiana (R-LA) is making headlines ahead of the U.S. midterm elections, declaring that the GOP is “not gonna let the communists take America from us.” The lawmaker also challenges current polling, arguing that surveys are “wrong” and have been under-sampling Republican voters. The remarks highlight the growing political tensions surrounding the midterms, the battle over public opinion, and the debate over whether polling accurately reflects Republican support. As both parties prepare for a crucial election season, questions remain about voter turnout, polling accuracy, and the political narratives shaping the race.

00:00Let me tell you something. This is the most important midterm in the history of the United States, and that
00:04is not a campaign rhetoric there. That is the truth, okay?
00:08Everybody knows what's at stake. You've heard a lot of important things said here already at this podium today, but
00:12I would tell you, if somebody had told us 10 years ago, Lori,
00:15that on the 250th anniversary of the greatest nation in the history of the world, in the midterm election in
00:21November of 26,
00:22we'd be locked into this battle to determine whether or not we're going to keep the country, keep the republic,
00:27or go down this dark, dangerous road to communism, I would have said that's unlikely, that's not possible.
00:33That's exactly what we are facing right now, okay? And the stakes could not be higher.
00:38And so when the stakes are high, and you have this challenge to the very founding principles of America,
00:44you have to have warriors elected to Congress, and that's what Lori Buckout is, okay? Thank you.
00:54There are not too many retired colonels after 30 years in the service, in the army, who run for Congress,
01:00okay?
01:00And we've got an extraordinary one here, and she has a great life story and a full set of skills,
01:05and I'm going to keep her so busy when she joins us in Congress, okay?
01:09We've got so much for her to do, she doesn't even know yet.
01:11Now look, I'm giving you my field report. I've been doing this all around the country, okay, nonstop.
01:15We are in airplane hangars and big events, stadium events and auditoriums and barns.
01:20I've been in a bunch of barns, although this isn't really a barn. This is like a wedding venue.
01:25It's beautiful. Thank you for hosting here.
01:27But look, everywhere we go, we have crowds just like this.
01:30In the middle of the day, we have 200, 300, 400 people turn out for these events for our candidates,
01:35and they're waving signs, and they have the same excitement that you do,
01:38and they understand the urgency of the hour, and they are not going to let the communists take America from
01:43us.
01:43We're not going to do that, okay?
01:49I'm telling you that I'm giving you my field report. I have been in the rooms myself.
01:53The polls are not reflecting this. I'm looking right into the camera and telling you the polls are wrong.
01:57They are wrong, okay? Okay? Don't buy it.
02:01The polling organizations are admitting over the last few weeks that they have been under-sampling Republicans.
02:06They are over-sampling Democrats. You know why? You're right. You know why?
02:10Because Republicans don't trust pollsters anymore. We don't participate. That's what it is, right?
02:15We can throw up.
02:16Exactly right. So what they're trying to do is get us dispirited.
02:20They're trying to discourage turnout, okay?
02:23Early voting began today in North Carolina. That's why I'm here, okay?
02:27If you voted already, will you raise your hand? Okay. Awesome. All right.
02:31Who else is going to vote early? Will you get it done? Get it done. Let's get it done. All
02:34right.
02:35And, as Lori said, you've got to bring others to the poll. You cannot take this for granted.
02:39Let me tell you something. I have been all over the country. I'm in the middle of a six-week
02:43tour.
02:43I'm going through 40 districts in 22 states. We couldn't wait to get back here to North Carolina 1.
02:48I'm going to make a prediction. The election is in 19 days from today, but who's counting, Lori?
02:53Okay. Here's a prediction. In 19 days, North Carolina's first district is going to elect their first Republican to Congress,
03:00and we're going to win on election night.
03:05We have to do it. We have to do it.
03:07Now, I mentioned I'm going coast to coast, literally.
03:09A couple of days ago, I was in South Texas, down to the very tip, the bottom, McAllen, Texas, right
03:14on the border.
03:14And then we flew from there to Maine, and we campaigned up there with Paul DePage,
03:18who's going to flip a blue district to red, as we're going to do here in North Carolina.
03:22And then we went to Virginia. We're here.
03:24We're going to Florida later this afternoon, nonstop.
03:26But of all the places I go around the country, there are fewer, more important races than the one that
03:31we're involved in,
03:32right here in your backyard.
03:34Okay? Okay?
03:38Let me tell you something.
03:39This is the most important midterm in the history of the United States,
03:43and that is not a campaign rhetoric there.
03:45That is the truth.
03:46Everybody knows what's at stake.
03:48You've heard a lot of important things said here already at this podium today,
03:51but I would tell you, if somebody had told us 10 years ago, Laurie,
03:54that on the 250th anniversary of the greatest nation in the history of the world,
03:58in the midterm election in November of 26,
04:01we'd be locked into this battle to determine whether or not we're going to keep the country,
04:05keep the republic, or go down this dark, dangerous road to communism,
04:09I would have said that's unlikely.
04:11Let's know if possible.
04:12That's exactly what we are facing right now.
04:14Okay?
04:15And the stakes could not be higher.
04:17And so when the stakes are high and you have this challenge to the very founding principles of America,
04:22you have to have warriors elected to Congress,
04:25and that's what Laurie Buckout is.
04:27Okay?
04:32There are not too many retired colonels after 30 years in the service in the Army who run for Congress.
04:38Okay?
04:39And we've got an extraordinary one here.
04:41And she has a great life story and a full set of skills,
04:44and I'm going to keep her so busy when she joins us in Congress.
04:47Okay?
04:48We've got so much for her to do, she doesn't even know yet.
04:50But we've got to do this.
04:52Now, look, Craven County is critically important.
04:54I know most of you live in Craven County.
04:56Okay?
04:56This is probably the biggest concentration of Republican votes in the 1st District of North Carolina.
05:01And after redistricting, this is brand new territory for the 1st District.
05:05That means, that means that if you turn out, we will flip this seat,
05:09and it's going to make the Democrats' heads explode.
05:11Okay?
05:12All right?
05:18Now, look, I'm giving you my field report.
05:20I've been doing this all around the country.
05:21Okay?
05:21Non-stop.
05:22We are in airplane hangers and big events, stadium events and auditoriums and barns.
05:27I've been in a bunch of barns.
05:28Although, this isn't really a barn.
05:31This is like a wedding venue.
05:32It's beautiful.
05:32Thank you for hosting here.
05:33But, look, everywhere we go, we have crowds just like this.
05:36In the middle of the day, we have 200, 300, 400 people turn out for these events for our candidates.
05:41And they're waving signs, and they have the same excitement that you do,
05:44and they understand the urgency of the hour.
05:46And they are not going to let the communists take America from us.
05:50We're not going to do that.
05:51Okay?
05:55I'm telling you that I'm giving you my field report.
05:58I have been in the rooms myself.
05:59The polls are not reflecting this.
06:01I'm looking right at the camera and telling you the polls are wrong.
06:04They are wrong.
06:04Okay?
06:05Okay?
06:06Don't buy it.
06:07The polling organizations are admitting over the last few weeks that they have been under-sampling Republicans.
06:12They are over-sampling Democrats.
06:14You know why?
06:15Right.
06:15You know why?
06:16Because Republicans don't trust pollsters anymore.
06:19We don't participate.
06:20That's what it is.
06:20Right?
06:21We give us co-ops.
06:22Exactly right.
06:24So what they're trying to do is get us dispirited.
06:27They're trying to discourage turnout.
06:29Okay?
06:29Early voting began today in North Carolina.
06:32That's why I'm here.
06:33Okay?
06:33If you voted already, will you raise your hand?
06:36Okay.
06:36Awesome.
06:37All right.
06:37Who else is going to vote early?
06:39Will you get it done?
06:39Get it done.
06:40Let's get it done.
06:40All right.
06:41And, as Laurie said, you've got to bring others to the poll.
06:44You cannot take this for granted.
06:45Now, look.
06:46We have to defy history to win the majority.
06:48All right?
06:48It's only happened twice in 90 years that a sitting president has picked up seats for his party in that
06:53first two-year cycle.
06:54And the president asks me all the time, Mike, why is that?
06:56Okay.
06:56Well, sir.
07:00Sir.
07:01The reason is because angry people vote.
07:04Okay?
07:05And if you think about it, it's logical.
07:06Right?
07:06One party wins the White House.
07:08The other team's upset about it.
07:09So, they send out their grassroots and they take House seats away from the president in that first two-year
07:14cycle.
07:14My friends, that is not going to happen this time.
07:18We are going to win the majority.
07:20Right?
07:24Now, here's where we are.
07:25What can you expect on election night?
07:26Okay?
07:27If we turn out, we're going to win.
07:28And I believe we will.
07:29I believe the people are going to do the right thing.
07:31Ronald Reagan used to say, you can trust the American people.
07:34If they have the facts, they will make the right decision.
07:37And the facts are very important here.
07:38Okay?
07:38On election night, all the prognosticators agree, it's going to be pretty divided.
07:43You're going to have about half the seats that are red, about half the seats that are blue.
07:46Of the 435 seats on the map, it's going to come down to the outcome of less than two dozen
07:51seats.
07:52We're tracking 22 races that will decide the fate of America.
07:56No hyperbole here.
07:57That's what's at stake.
07:58Now, of the 22 races, everybody's watching.
08:01Everybody's investing in.
08:02Everybody is calculating how they go, how they move, what the turnout is.
08:06Of those 22 seats, you can rank them in importance.
08:09This race right here is a top five race in America right now as we speak.
08:14Okay?
08:15All right?
08:15It is.
08:19I was on Fox News morning show 48 hours ago, two days ago, and I was on with Bill Hemmer
08:24and Dana Perino, and they said, Mr. Speaker, on election night, you've been traveling all
08:27over the country.
08:28What races are you going to be watching?
08:30What is the first things you're going to be looking for?
08:31Well, the polls close soonest on the East Coast, of course, and it pans out across the country.
08:36And you know what seat I said?
08:38North Carolina won because we have Colonel Lori Buckhout, who's an awesome candidate.
08:43She's going to make history.
08:47I think I'm not the only one.
08:49Everybody around the country is watching this.
08:51They don't think that we're going to be able to take this district, but they don't know
08:54the people here like we know the people here, okay?
08:56This is serious business.
08:58This is not our father's Democratic Party.
09:00All right?
09:01I say that.
09:02How many of you saw our midterm convention in Dallas last month?
09:05That was a pretty big deal, right?
09:06All right?
09:07There were some great speeches made there, the president, the vice president.
09:09We all gave speeches, but if you did not see the speech by Bobby Kennedy, I want you to
09:14look it up on the internet tonight and watch it, okay?
09:17I think it was one of the most important speeches of the year.
09:19And you know why?
09:20Because he is kind of, I mean, he's the heir of political royalty in America, the Kennedy
09:24family, right?
09:25And here's a Kennedy, the heir of the Kennedy family, the legacy.
09:29He's standing on stage at the Republican convention, and he says with great sadness, if my father,
09:36RFK, if my uncle, JFK, were here today, his message was they would not be welcomed into
09:41the Democrat Party because that was a different generation of Democrats.
09:44They believed in God and country and faith and family and the founding principles, and
09:49this group does not.
09:50You heard what they put on paper as their platform, the Democrat Socialists of America.
09:55There is an insurgent left element that is taking over the Democrat Party.
09:59They want to abolish the border, abolish prisons, defund the police, defund the Department of
10:04War.
10:05They want to abolish the Senate.
10:07I'm not the biggest fan of the Senate at the moment.
10:11I don't want to abolish them.
10:12They're in Article 1 of the Constitution, okay?
10:15They want to remove the president.
10:17They want to pack the Supreme Court.
10:18They want one unicameral body of the House to run everything.
10:20Ask yourself why.
10:21Because they've calculated that over two or three cycles, they can elect enough Marxists
10:26that they will take over the entire government.
10:29And then you know what happens next?
10:30They take over the means of production.
10:32That means no more small businesses, no private property ownership.
10:35This is dangerous, deadly stuff.
10:38We're trying to give this message out on the campaign trail and the people who didn't live
10:42through the Cold War and have, you know, the younger said, socialism sounds like a siren
10:46song to them.
10:47It sounds fantastic.
10:48You're going to give me free everything?
10:49Wow.
10:50Nobody told them they've got to give up their freedom in exchange.
10:54Every single time that Marxism has been tried, every time, it has led to human suffering,
11:00to famine, mass poverty, and to death.
11:04We started a website on the campaign trail a month ago because we realized that younger
11:08people don't realize this.
11:09On our website, contrastforamerica.com, we summarize every single time that this has been
11:14tried, it leads to ruin.
11:16In fact, the communists have been responsible for the murder of tens of millions of innocent
11:21people in the 20th century alone.
11:22The death of innocent people.
11:24We cannot go down that road.
11:26Now look, if we were in Washington right now, we would take you all on a little tour of the
11:30Capitol.
11:31In fact, I'm going to be the first to invite you to Laurie Buckout's tour of the Capitol
11:34after January 3rd.
11:35Okay?
11:36All right?
11:41She's going to give that tour like a commanding officer.
11:43It's going to be awesome.
11:44All right?
11:45She'll keep all the troops in line.
11:47Right?
11:47But what we would do if we were there today, I'd love to take you all through the rotunda
11:52with all of its images.
11:53It's a majestic, it's almost like a sacred setting, you know.
11:55And then we would take you through Statuary Hall and take you on to the house floor.
11:59And if you all came with us on the house floor, we're not in session.
12:01You can bring constituents and friends to the house floor.
12:03It's a really, really neat experience.
12:04But if you walk in like we do at eye level, the first thing you will see that you can't
12:08not see is, in God we trust, right above the speaker's head.
12:12Okay?
12:15Now, let me tell you, if we were there today, I would then grab a book.
12:19It's called The Visitor's Guide to the People's House.
12:21And I would turn to page 20.
12:22The book tells you all about all the symbols and the chamber and all the history that's
12:26there.
12:26And if you go to page 20, it tells you how the national motto got put above the speaker's
12:30head.
12:30It says, in 1962, Congress voted unanimously to put the national motto above the speaker's
12:37head, it says in the book, as a rebuke to the Soviet's philosophy during the Cold War.
12:43What was the Soviet's philosophy?
12:45My friends, it's exactly what we're fighting right now in the midterm election.
12:49Okay?
12:49Now, why did Congress say that?
12:51I mentioned it was a unanimous vote.
12:52Every Democrat voted with every Republican to do that.
12:55If I put that bill on the floor next week, the Democrats in Congress would vote against it.
12:59Okay?
12:59They're not on board with that anymore.
13:02The Congress was trying to make a point.
13:04It said, we are one nation under God.
13:06And that is a big difference from the Soviets and the Marxists and the communists and the
13:10socialists.
13:12Marxism begins with the premise that there is no God.
13:15And that is anti-American.
13:17And it's dangerous.
13:18Now, here's the most dangerous thing happening in the election cycle right now.
13:22The most dangerous candidate for Congress is the one running around trying to pretend like
13:26they're a moderate.
13:26All right?
13:27Okay?
13:28I'd rather they just wave the communist flag like most of them are.
13:31You know, these insurgent leftist candidates, we know who they are.
13:34At least they're being honest.
13:35You got a guy like the incumbent in this seat, he will be right on board.
13:39He will jump on that socialist train.
13:41He won't have a choice because they're going to have a big batch of them elected to Congress.
13:45And they're going to drag them along.
13:46Now, you heard all the great things that we've done in this Congress.
13:49We've got a lot more to do.
13:50We had the smallest margin in U.S. history almost.
13:53In most days, I had a one to two vote margin.
13:55And so I'm really like a mental health counselor at this point is what I was doing.
13:59Get everybody to yes.
14:00Okay?
14:01But we did.
14:02And in spite of those challenges, in spite of the fact that the obstructionist Democrats,
14:06including Don Davis, shut the government down for a record amount of days.
14:10They shut it down for 120 days.
14:13Just this Congress alone.
14:14They didn't want troops and Coast Guard agents and TSA agents and people who were putting their
14:19lives on the line for them.
14:20They didn't want them to get paid.
14:21They shut the government down for cheap political points.
14:25And Don Davis is on board with that.
14:27When we got everybody collected and we got the legislation going, in spite of the obstructionist
14:30Democrats, and even with the smallest margin, we had the most productive Congress since
14:351949 in terms of the legislation we passed.
14:38We passed the largest tax cut in U.S. history.
14:40You've heard all about it.
14:40$4.6 trillion.
14:42Yes.
14:45We cut taxes on tips and overtime, Social Security.
14:48You've heard all that.
14:48But you know what it means in North Carolina?
14:49I pulled the numbers.
14:50I was telling Lori before he walked in.
14:51If the average North Carolinian has $3,291 right now, that's the average tax cut, in their
14:58pocket, they did not have to send to Washington because of our legislation.
15:01All right?
15:02Real money for real people.
15:06Did you know that wages, the average wage was boosted $6,400 in the state of North Carolina
15:12because of the legislation we passed?
15:14Did you know 1.9 million seniors in this state are no longer paying tax on Social Security?
15:19That's because we did what we said.
15:23And then we did the largest spending cut in U.S. history.
15:26We are going after the fraud, waste, and abuse like hawks, and we are taking it out of the
15:30government because government needs to be smaller and more efficient and work better for the
15:34people.
15:34You know what the biggest issue in 2024 on the ballot was?
15:37The wide open border.
15:39The fentanyl crisis that ensued and the human trafficking and all that.
15:42My friends, we shut the border closed.
15:45Tight.
15:46Okay?
15:46All right.
15:51We have not had a single illegal alien released into the country in 16 straight months because
15:57elections have consequences.
15:58All right?
16:01We also infused the legislation with pro-growth policies for small business owners, the job
16:06creators, and we made sure that you can write off capital expenditures.
16:08So if you invest in research and development or you add a new facility or you upgrade your
16:12equipment, you can write it off in your taxes.
16:14It's like jet fuel for the economy.
16:15We've added a million private sector jobs in the economy in 19 months.
16:19We're bringing back American manufacturing, back made in the USA again.
16:23Absolutely.
16:24Right.
16:25Right.
16:27We have Trump accounts for every newborn.
16:30Right?
16:30Right?
16:31We have the first ever nationwide school choice program that we got codified into law.
16:37That's right.
16:41We're returning to the principle of peace through strength.
16:44We're returning to the idea of American energy dominance again.
16:47And we're reversing all the harmful, crazy Biden-Harris regulations that just hampered the U.S. economy.
16:53It goes on and on and on.
16:54There is much more yet to do.
16:56You don't fix all that in just 19 or 20 months.
16:58It takes a full four-year term.
17:00And we've got to have reinforcements in the House.
17:03Okay?
17:03Lori Buckout is going to serve this county and this district with distinction, as she always
17:09has in her career.
17:10Okay?
17:10Now, let me tell you something.
17:12Yes.
17:12Yes.
17:15This group.
17:16This is not our Father's Democrat Party.
17:19And they will do the exact opposite of everything I just said.
17:21Everything I just read for you, Don Davis voted against it.
17:24He has betrayed the people of this district.
17:26He has voted against their interests.
17:28He has voted to raise their taxes.
17:29He has voted against the child tax credit enhancement and the standard deduction enhancement.
17:34Just go down the list.
17:35Everything that means so much to hardworking families here, he has worked against.
17:39And I'm telling you, in the next Congress, it would be even worse.
17:43He will be drug right along by the radical left.
17:45You need an antidote to that.
17:47You need somebody like Lori Buckout who will come in and get the job done.
17:50Okay?
17:50And she will.
17:51And she will do that.
17:57Now, look, I'm not going to belabor the point here, but I want to give you two encouraging
18:01thoughts, okay?
18:02And this is by way of encouragement because we can do this and we are going to do this.
18:06And it's going to get better on the other side, right?
18:09I was on the phone with Newt Gingrich back in January.
18:11He's still one of the great strategists in the party, right?
18:13Newt has more time to strategize than I do.
18:15I'm like a triage surgeon on an active battlefield every day, right?
18:19And Newt's looking down the field.
18:21So he calls me in January.
18:22He says, Mike, think of this.
18:23This isn't a contract with America year this midterm.
18:26This is a contrast for America.
18:28And it's a contrast between common sense and crazy, all right?
18:32And that's what we have.
18:33That's the contrast, okay?
18:37But he also said, he also said, Mike, think of this.
18:40This is a bridge election.
18:42What do you mean, Newt?
18:43Mike, think of it.
18:44All you guys got to do is you got to defy history and hold that majority.
18:47Just hold it.
18:48It doesn't matter how big it is.
18:49Hold it.
18:50Because it gets so much better after that.
18:52The next two cycles are very important for America.
18:542028 is the presidential cycle, okay?
18:57How many of you know we have a much deeper bench than the Democrats do for that conference,
19:01okay?
19:04What I'm about to tell you is not a punchline.
19:06This is serious.
19:06They're going to run Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, or AOC for president of the United States.
19:12I mean, I can't wait.
19:15I can't wait.
19:17So 2028 will go well for us.
19:19And then this is going to be very interesting to you.
19:22In 2030 is the decennial census.
19:24Now, listen to what I'm about to tell you, okay?
19:26The census will reflect the mass exodus out of the blue states to the red.
19:31People are leaving New York and New Jersey and California and Illinois, and they're moving
19:35to Texas and Florida and Tennessee and the Carolinas, okay?
19:39So guess what's going to happen after that?
19:41When the census reflects the population shift, we reapportion House seats.
19:47It means we're going to get a flood of Republican seats and Republican states and districts,
19:51and we are going to have a durable, governing, common-sense, conservative majority for a generation.
19:56That's exactly right.
20:04And that is how you keep the communists at bay, all right?
20:07So here's what we're going to do.
20:09We are going to turn out.
20:10We are going to defy history.
20:11We are going to show everybody that these polls are totally worthless, and we are going
20:15to blow their minds, and we flip North Carolina 1 from blue to red, okay?
20:24I know Craven County, and I know this district.
20:26I know the people here.
20:27I know your heart.
20:28I know you care about this.
20:29Ronald Reagan used to say, you have to remember, freedom is never more than one generation away
20:33from extinction.
20:34He said, we don't pass it in the bloodstream.
20:36It's got to be fought for and protected.
20:39Lori, thanks for fighting for our freedom.
20:41Seriously, literally.
20:48Reagan said, freedom has to be fought for and protected, and then it has to be taught
20:51and passed along to the next generation, or they, too, will not have the same liberty,
20:54opportunity, and security that we have known, and sadly, too often take it for granted.
20:58There is nobody in this facility today who takes freedom for granted.
21:02I know that.
21:02So the way you show it, and the way you defend it, and the way you pass it along to
21:06our children
21:06and grandchildren, is you vote, you get your friends and family to vote, you get the people
21:10at church to vote.
21:10We cannot take it for granted.
21:12We're not going to do it in North Carolina.
21:14We're going to win in 19 days.
21:16All right?
21:17Thank you so much.
21:18God bless you.
