00:00What's up everyone? It's Zach Braziller here with the New York Post.
00:03St. John's season officially starts tomorrow. Exhibition open against Drexel and today we got
00:11some news. News that's been eagerly awaited. Quinn Ellis, the highly regarded point guard from
00:18Britain, was cleared by the NCAA after weeks of waiting. Keyshawn Hall had his TRO, his temporary
00:27restraining order, was held intact after a hearing. We now wait to see what the judge rules in terms
00:34of the injunction, but good news. St. John's will have its entire team eligible to play in the
00:41exhibition opener. The Quinn Ellis news is big. They really didn't have a big-time point guard last
00:46year as well as Dylan Darling played. Quinn Ellis is considered a guy who could be a top 20 player
00:53in the country and they don't have to go to court. The NCAA gave him a year of eligibility,
00:57so you have the big-time point guard to go with Ian Jackson, to go with Tunde Yesifu,
01:02and now you wait on Hall, you wait on Babakar Sane, but, you know, today was obviously a very
01:09good step in the right direction to getting this entire team eligible. You know, for the Hall TRO,
01:14the NCAA was trying to get the TRO vacated and the judge didn't see it that way. The judge kept
01:20it
01:20intact, so I think it's very positive news for Keyshawn Hall, high-scoring wing from Auburn.
01:27You know, he's one of these high school, a lot of these high school, 2022 high school
01:32players who felt they deserved the fifth year of eligibility because the NCAA added this new rule
01:38in June saying, you know, you now get five years, but they didn't include last year's senior, so you
01:43have, you know, hundreds of guys across the country suing for that fifth year, and Hall is hoping to get
01:48one. They're hoping to get one. Rick Pitino has told me he might be the best offensive player
01:53on this team, so we'll see what happens here. I think it's very good, positive development for Hall
01:59to get an injunction, and, you know, we'll see where it goes from there, but no matter what,
02:05Quinn Ellis is eligible, and it's going to give St. John's a hell of a backcourt between him.
02:09You know, everything you hear is Ian Jackson has taken a major step forward.
02:12Tunde Yesifu set the Baylor freshman scoring record record last year. He was a guy who might
02:18have been a late first round pick, and he stayed in the draft. Those three guys have the chance to
02:23be as good of a trio on the perimeter as there is in the country. Now, if you get Hall
02:27and Sane,
02:28I think this is a team that could be probably going to, at least on paper, would be the best
02:33team
02:33St. John's has had in the Rick Pitino era. We'll obviously see what happens with the court stuff
02:39with Hall and Sane, but the headline today is Quinn Ellis is eligible, St. John's has
02:43his point guard, and it's a sigh of relief. Tomorrow, we get to see the new-look team for
02:48the first time, get Drexel, then Sunday it's Rutgers, and a week later it's Texas, but, you
02:55know, today was definitely a step in the right direction, and we see where all the court stuff
03:03goes from here. I'll see everyone tomorrow, and can't wait for the season.
03:09And maybe at the end, we'll see where we're sitting at. Think about it.
