00:00St. John's season officially starts tomorrow, exhibition open against Drexel, and today we got some news.
00:09Quinn Ellis, the highly regarded point guard from Britain, was cleared by the NCAA after weeks of waiting.
00:16Keyshawn Hall had his TRO, his temporary restraining order, was held intact after a hearing.
00:23We now wait to see what the judge rules in terms of the injunction.
00:27But good news, St. John's will have its entire team eligible to play in the exhibition opener.
00:34The Quinn Ellis news is big.
00:36They really didn't have a big-time point guard last year as well as Dylan Darling played.
00:41Quinn Ellis is considered, you know, a guy who could be a top-20 player in the country.
00:46And they don't have to go to court.
00:48The NCAA gave them a year of eligibility, so you have the big-time point guard to go with Ian
00:52Jackson, to go with Tunde Yesifu.
00:54And now you wait on Hall, you wait on Babacar Sane.
00:58But, you know, today was obviously a very good step in the right direction to getting this entire team eligible.
01:04You know, for the Hall TRO, the NCAA was trying to get the TRO vacated, and the judge didn't see
01:11it that way.
01:12The judge kept it intact.
01:13So I think it's very positive news for Keyshawn Hall.
01:16High-scoring wing from Auburn, you know, he's one of these high school, 2022 high school players who felt they
01:23deserved the fifth year of eligibility because the NCAA added this new rule in June saying, you know, you now
01:29get five years, but they didn't include last year's senior.
01:31So you have, you know, hundreds of guys across the country suing for that fifth year.
01:35And Hall is hoping to get one.
01:37They're hoping to get one.
01:38Rick Pitino has told me he might be the best offensive player on this team.
01:42Quinn Ellis is eligible, and it's going to give St. John's a hell of a backcourt.
01:45Between him, you know, everything you hear is Ian Jackson has taken a major step forward.
01:50Tunde Yesifu set the Baylor freshman scoring record last year.
01:54He was a guy who might have been a late first-round pickhead.
01:57He stayed in the draft.
01:58Those three guys have the chance to be as good of a trio on the perimeter as there is in
02:02the country.
