A landlord claims his former tenants left behind extensive damage after living in his apartment for eight years. But when Judge Rachel Juarez examines the photographs, she has a very different opinion about the property's condition and questions whether the landlord's description is justified.

On Hot Bench, Judge Juarez challenges landlord Mr. Chisau's definition of extensive damage, pointing out that the apartment looks surprisingly good after eight years of occupancy. She even recalls that apartments she rented when she was younger looked considerably worse after just one year.

Watch Hot Bench as Judge Rachel Juarez brings some personal perspective and a little humor to a landlord's claims about property damage and tenant responsibility.

00:00I got to show you some of these pictures because I think the word extensive is really one of the
00:05problems here. This place looks pretty good for some tenants that have occupied it for eight
00:10years, I got to tell you. These pictures don't prove anything except Mr. Trousseau took some
00:15pictures that are very favorable to his point of view. Well, but this is where we get into extensive
00:21damage because I got to tell you, I had apartments when I was young for a year that I left
00:26in much
00:26worse condition than this and nobody would have called it extensive damage.
