00:00All right, amid speculation of a cabinet reshuffle,
00:04Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting,
00:06L. Murugan has made a major decision.
00:08He's taken to social media to urge Prime Minister Modi
00:12to allow him to step down from the post of Union Minister
00:16and allow him to work in Tamil Nadu instead.
00:18Murugan has said, and I quote,
00:21Pradhan Mantriji, everything I've received from the party
00:23and from your leadership has deepened my sense of responsibility
00:25and I feel that I must now give more of myself to the work
00:31that first brought me into public life.
00:33With humility and a grateful heart I therefore request you
00:36to relieve me of my responsibilities as Minister of State
00:39and permit me to even relinquish my membership of the Rajasabha
00:43so that I may dedicate myself full time to strengthening the party in Tamil Nadu.
00:47So this is the big breaking news that's coming in L. Murugan
00:50who was in fact a Rajasabha MP, Union Minister
00:54has now requested Prime Minister Modi saying
00:58that he wants to focus on Tamil Nadu.
01:00Remember that months ago in the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu
01:02it contested from Avinashy and had lost in that particular seat.
01:06So he has attempted previously to focus on state elections,
01:10hasn't really tasted any success electorally.
01:12Rajasabha MP was a Union Minister
01:14but now asking to be relieved of his responsibilities
01:18saying I want to focus on strengthening the BJP in Tamil Nadu.
01:22And this amid all of that buzz and chatter
01:25that there could be a cabinet reshuffle very, very soon.
01:28Pramod Madhav is joining us with more details on this.
01:31Pramod, the big question is what's prompted this decision
01:33whether L. Murugan was asked to step aside and focus on Tamil Nadu
01:38or whether he's chosen to make this move
01:40perhaps considering the role of the Tamil Nadu BJP chief.
01:45One thing I want to highlight is that like the first is L. Murugan,
01:48you know, Minister of Union apparently has highlighted in this particular tweet
01:52and one is Nitin Nabin and then we also have B.L. Santosh
01:55who is considered to be the man who is behind the brain for BJP
01:58when it comes to the southern state especially.
01:59So it very clearly says like he wants to actually go back to his grassroots.
02:03What was the reason for him to come back to grassroots?
02:05That is a very important question considering now
02:07Anna Malay is not part of the BJP and he has his own.
02:09We the leaders and considering we are going to have the local board elections,
02:12we've just come to know that there are high chances of visa leaders
02:16who also participate in this local board elections.
02:18And then we have the TBK which has to battle,
02:21no, BJP has to battle, TBK, DMK and it looks like even AI, ADMK
02:26considering that is also in two conditions right now, Akshita.
02:29And it was L. Murugan during his period close to four,
02:33the BJP got four MLA's in the state of Tamil Nadu.
02:37So it looks like keeping that in mind,
02:39probably there is high chance that L. Murugan can once again
02:41become the president as well.
02:43We are not exactly sure but it looks like everything is pointing towards
02:45this point right now, Akshita.
02:47Okay, so this is the big breaking news
02:50that's coming in right now.
02:56Union Minister L. Murugan offering right now to step down
03:01and saying let me focus on the state of Tamil Nadu,
03:05saying please relieve me from my duties.
03:07There's been a lot of buzz of cabinet reshuffle.
03:10Is this an A in line with that?
03:13He's been the Tamil Nadu representative of sorts
03:15for the last many years in the union cabinet.
03:19Is that about to change?
03:20Will the Prime Minister now relieve him of his responsibilities
03:23as he desires?
03:25There'll be a lot of speculation on this.
03:26Thanks very much, Pramod, for those details for the moment.
