00:30With a couple guys for the Dodgers that hit 16 this year.
00:33They've both gone deep in this postseason.
00:35Christian Yelich is back in there today for the Brewers.
00:37And Bryce Terrain, who went deep yesterday for Milwaukee.
00:43A lot of talk about the Dodger lineup.
00:45Decisions for Dave Roberts.
00:47Couldn't move pieces around to try and get this lineup going.
00:49A couple of changes.
00:50He flips to Oscar Hernandez and Will Smith.
00:52So, Hernandez up to hit third.
00:54And Will Smith, who's won for 19 in the playoffs, is down to fifth.
00:57The other change in the lineup, Tommy Edmund replaces Kike Hernandez at second base and bats nine.
01:03For more, we go to the field, and here's Ken Rosenthal.
01:06Thanks, Joe.
01:07For Dave Roberts, writing a lineup right now is the most challenging it has been in a long time.
01:12You said it.
01:13Will Smith, hero of last year's World Series, batting fifth today.
01:16The bigger question, though, remains Shohei Ohtani.
01:20Roberts is again hitting him clean up, in part because he prefers Mookie Betts in the leadoff spot.
01:25But Ohtani hasn't hit a home run since August 18th.
01:29He is three for 16 in the postseason, albeit with three walks.
01:33But Roberts knows that he is not 100%.
01:36And yet, he can't hide him.
01:38All he can do is bank on Ohtani, building enough confidence to become a force again.
01:44Now, with more on the pitcher the Dodgers will face, here's Tom Faducci.
01:48Well, thanks, Ken.
01:49Logan Henderson is a 24-year-old rookie pitcher with an easygoing manner and a 93-mile-an-hour fastball.
01:56Do not let looks deceive you.
01:58His stuff is nasty.
02:00His fastball is the toughest to hit of any starting pitcher this year because it has elite two-plane movement,
02:06horizontal and vertical.
02:08And his best pitch may be his rare high-spin change-up.
02:13He has started 11 times in this ballpark, and the Brewers have won every one of them.
02:18Joe.
02:1824 starts in his Major League career.
02:20He's not given up more than three runs in any of them.
02:23And overall, the Brewers' record in those games, John, 20 and 4.
02:26And the hardest thing about what he has to do, and I still think it's a great tribute to him,
02:32is follow Mizorowski.
02:33His hitters will tell you, whoever fails, whoever faces Mizorowski, the next day, it's got to be easier.
02:40Well, it's not easier against Henderson, and because of what Tom said and everything that he attributes that he has.
02:46Look, both starting pitchers have an edge.
02:49Someone has to shock the starting pitch, meaning something shocks their systems and go, whoa.
02:55And the Dodgers have a chance to do that here in the first inning.
02:58And then, of course, on the flip side, so does Milwaukee.
03:00So whoever shocks the starting pitcher into thinking like, whoa, I didn't see that coming, is going to have a
03:05huge advantage.
03:05Is today the day Mookie Betts finally has a first pitch swing?
03:08I've never seen it.
03:09Yeah.
03:09But it would be the nice start, because you know you're getting a fastball.
03:13Brewers trying to get to 2-0 in this series.
03:16Dodgers trying to tie it up as it goes back to Los Angeles for game three.
03:20Dave Roberts feels like Mookie Betts is in the best place of any hitter in this lineup.
03:24Numbers not going to pop off of the page, but he singled and walked yesterday and just missed,
03:29changing the game in the ninth inning with a fly out to the wall.
03:33One ball and one strike.
03:34Well, what Henderson does so well is locate his fastball.
03:38For the most part, it's going to be a wave.
03:39He does trust that his fastball away is going to set up his slider curveball and, of course,
03:44that changeup that has great and funky spin to it.
03:50And there's simplicity to the whole thing.
03:52There's a cutter that he's only going to throw a handful of times per game.
03:55It's pretty much 80, 90 percent fastball changeup.
03:58You know what's coming.
04:00Guys just don't hit it.
04:01They don't.
04:02And when you're thinking about his fastball, because it doesn't have, like, the velocity
04:06of 98, 99, you've got to understand the hitter sees it totally different, and it beats him.
04:11It beats him to the plate like that.
04:15And they tell themselves to get the barrel out in front, look to pull.
04:18You normally, you would normally not want to always pull a fastball-throwing pitcher,
04:23but in this case, the way his fastball is, it beats you and you hit fly balls to this.
04:30You get a lot of pop-ups.
04:31He's home with a 2-2 to pass.
04:34And it catches the outside corner for strike three, but a challenge in the first at-bat of the game
04:39that Mookie Becks looks like he'll win.
04:43There's that changeup he can throw to both sides of the plate, and as you see that thing come in,
04:48just misses on the outside.
04:49Those hitters hold their breath sometimes, and you could tell he had just hopes of that's got to be a
04:55ball.
04:56ABS is powered by T-Mobile's network, and so Betts stays alive at 3-2 against Henderson.
05:0224-year-old from Houston.
05:05And his second postseason start delivers a payoff pitch, and Betts lays off this time.
05:10He's got a lead-off walk.
05:14Today's keys to the game sponsored by Ford.
05:16Dodgers have to find a way to get some fastballs and hit that slug that they're so good at
05:20and power the ball in this ballpark.
05:23And, of course, the Brewers, even though they give up the other team's scores first,
05:29they're allowing themselves to have the mindset that playing ahead, that is their key.
05:34They get the lead, and they keep it, usually.
05:37Cody Freeman climbs in, and conversely, Dave Roberts is pointing to that as a key for the Dodgers to get
05:42in.
05:43It changes the way the Brewers play.
05:44It's harder to stick to that small ball, get him over, get him in philosophy.
05:49And during the sweep last year in the championship series,
05:52the Brewers only led for one inning, playing catch-up pretty much the whole way.
05:59Freeman bounces on right side.
06:01Brewers turned three double plays yesterday.
06:03They'll settle for the out at first right here.
06:05Into scoring position goes Betts.
06:09The Dodgers had seven hits.
06:11They had six walks, a bunch of chances, but those three double plays,
06:15they went one for six with runners in scoring position in the game,
06:18and then different from the division series when it was a lot of those same things,
06:22they didn't have the home run to make up for it.
06:24Now, in the last matchup against Hernandez,
06:27they threw him a lot of cutters and curveballs, very few fastballs.
06:38First chance for the Dodgers in these situations today.
06:41After the one for six yesterday, two for 22 in the playoffs.
06:45Robert said he'd like to see more of a line drive approach in these situations.
06:49Too many pop-ups, too many ground balls.
06:52And is one of the guys who's had a better approach in these situations.
06:56Peppered a couple of line drive.
06:57Things sits yesterday.
06:59Down 0-2 here, though.
07:00Yeah, controlling the two strike counts.
07:03That's what Henderson has been so good at when he gets to two strikes.
07:08Putting hitters away.
07:10At an 83% clip.
07:13So that is the advantage pitcher, of course.
07:18Best pitcher in the National League this year with runners in scoring position.
07:21Hitters in 122 against Henderson in these situations.
07:26It's an amazing statistic.
07:28To pitch that many games.
07:43Henderson's 0-2 is fouled back.
07:48Dodgers' biggest chance yesterday came in the second inning.
07:50They got their lone run.
07:51Took the one to nothing lead.
07:53But the double play ball helped Mizrowski get out of the bases loaded situation.
07:57A very similar story to Mizrowski's start in the division series.
08:01He didn't go deep.
08:02But the bullpen was awesome.
08:04Four and two-thirds scored as innings.
08:06And now 23 innings in one run in these playoffs for the Pets.
08:12Another 0-2 to Teosca Hernandez.
08:13In the dirt.
08:14Kicks away.
08:15Betts will take third.
08:17And the first run of the day, 90 feet away for the Dodgers.
08:20Can they cash in?
08:30That one, not much Contreras could have done.
08:36Changes the equation a little bit here for Hernandez.
08:39Different ways to get that run in.
08:41Infield comes in for Pat Murphy already.
08:45In the air, right center field.
08:46Mitchell's over.
08:47Still coming.
08:48Makes the catch.
08:49Bats, tags, and heads home.
08:51Mitchell's throw.
08:52Not in time.
08:53And the Dodgers, one pitch later, take advantage of the wild pitch
08:56and get the game's first run.
08:58On a set fly from Teosca Hernandez.
09:03That's the kind of offense that's been missing for these Dodgers throughout the playoffs.
09:12Well, he got a ball up.
09:14And I'm really surprised that didn't see a breaking ball there.
09:17Maybe the runner on third shied him away from bouncing a breaking ball, but
09:22got it up.
09:23And Hernandez got it up.
09:25See the Dodgers get a big run to start this game.
09:29Putting the Brewers behind.
09:31Getting Shohei Ohtani to the plate right here.
09:34Singled walks scored a run yesterday.
09:37Dave Roberts is Ken Rosenthal told us hoping he can build off of that a little bit.
09:42Whatever momentum.
09:44Maybe swing a little more aggressively.
09:47Well, the one thing with Ohtani we talked about on the way in.
09:50The one pitch he's going to struggle with is a way enough.
09:52Because his front shoulder is giving him problems.
09:54And that's the extension shoulder.
09:56So anything middle end.
09:58The shorter he can get to the ball.
09:59That's where he's going to do damage right now based on his physical limitations.
10:04And a little fastball strikes him out and ends the first.
10:08Dodgers take advantage of the leadoff.
10:10Rocco.
10:12Yoshinobu Yamamoto takes it.
10:14Trying to add his October lore.
10:19Oh, there he is.
10:20Telecast is sponsored by Progressive Insurance.
10:22A grand slam for your budget.
10:25And by K1.
10:26What's in your wallet?
10:27As the Dodgers and Brewers face off in the National League Championship Series for the third time in nine years.
10:33Dodgers winning seven games in 2018.
10:35The sweep last year.
10:37On to the bottom of the first we go here in game two.
10:40Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets ready to work against this Brewers lineup.
10:44It has Jackson Churio and Bryce Terang at the top of it.
10:47Terang, the big home run yesterday.
10:49Contreras and Jake Bowers three and four.
10:51Christian Yelich in the lineup today.
10:52DH-ing.
10:53Mitchell's in center field.
10:55Pratt is short.
10:55Freely gets his first start as does David Hamilton against Yamamoto.
11:00Yeah, he does everything well.
11:02He defends his position.
11:03He holds runners on if they get in.
11:05And he throws a variety of pitches that you never know.
11:08It's fastball split mainly is a big part of his game.
11:11And the fastball command is elite.
11:13Churio.
11:14Swings and misses at a first pitch cutter.
11:18For Yamamoto, you look at these splits.
11:20You've got to see that a hitter is like, shoot.
11:22I've got everything almost even.
11:24I don't know what to eliminate.
11:26And you can't.
11:27And then it's different from one side to the next.
11:31Wallen strike on Churio.
11:33He's developed a great game plan.
11:34And in game, he makes the adjustments he needs to.
11:36And the one pitch that worked well against this team last time he pitched against him
11:40was that slow curveball.
11:42He breaks it out later in the game.
11:43It's a great way to get people to see
11:49different angles and a change of speed
11:50and make his fastball cutter look even firmer.
11:53So that's a weapon.
11:54And he can throw it for a strike almost any time he wants.
11:57Beat him during the regular season twice this year.
11:59And of course, in the championship series last year,
12:02the first complete game in the postseason in eight years.
12:05And in that game, it was the splitter that he rode.
12:08Milwaukee went 0 for 12 against that pitch.
12:11Lone run that they had came very first pitch of the game
12:13when this guy here in Churio hit a home run.
12:17Rocks and fires the 1-2.
12:19And a bouncing ball up along third and foul.
12:23What do you want from your ace?
12:24You want to be able to hand the ball to him
12:26when you feel like you're up against it.
12:28Dodgers are in the same situation in the World Series last year.
12:31Down 1-0.
12:32What did he do in game two?
12:34A complete game.
12:35This is his fourth consecutive playoff start
12:38that has followed a loss.
12:39And in the first three, he's 3-0 with a 1-23 ERA.
12:47Tries another one-two to Churio.
12:50Strikes him out.
12:51Finished him with a slider.
12:52He saw, what, four or five different pitch types
12:55in that first at-bat alone.
12:57Take a look at Fox 4's site.
12:58Bit with Gemini on Google Cloud.
13:02Yamamoto out-dueled Chris Sale in game three last week.
13:05Just a run over seven innings.
13:06Ten strikeouts.
13:07New career high for him in the playoffs.
13:10And his career ERA.
13:12Now 2-1-4 in the postseason with an 8-1 record.
13:16The cloud powers those real-time in-sounds.
13:18Strike on terrain.
13:19And that right there is his greatest weapon.
13:21The ball that's low that looks like it's going to go low.
13:24It stays and holds its plane.
13:25And then he brings in the splitter off of that.
13:28Left-handed hitters.
13:29It's going to be the most nightmare when they see those two combinations.
13:32Right.
13:33What's it foul?
13:36Go for it, brother.
13:37Frank came into this championship series.
13:39Two for 16 in the DS.
13:41But he showed the well-rounded game that has made him such a great player yesterday.
13:46Right from the first batter of the game.
13:48The defensive play that he made at second.
13:50And then after a couple days of grinding until close to midnight in the cage.
13:54Finding something with his swing.
13:56Had the game tying home run.
13:58Ball tries to lay off and does.
14:01That's just nasty.
14:02That splitter.
14:03And again.
14:05He's got so many different.
14:06He covers both sides of the plate.
14:08The hitter is in such a tough spot.
14:10When this pitch is doing that.
14:12He's got so deep.
14:20Target set in the same spot.
14:22I felt.
14:23Just misses away.
14:26He tries a splitter that fades away in a backdoor cutter.
14:29And what that means is a backdoor cutter.
14:31It means he's trying to come out to the outside part of that plate.
14:34And catch it on the other side where it freezes the hitter.
14:44Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok.
15:17That was an amazing at bat and he laid off a couple of pitchers pitches and got the ball to
15:23count to three and two and just slices it down the left field line an easy double and already both
15:30teams with runners in scoring position in the first inning the difference the Milwaukee Brewers had one out.
15:38And you have to cash in the Dodgers cast in.
15:45So it's already matches hit total from the division series first game in an at bat here in the championship
15:52series.
15:52And Chris Seager the home plate umpire just lets him on the motor.
15:55No you've got to wait until the hitter's ready before you come set.
15:58Contreras was their best hitter in the division series at 375 with a pair of home runs.
16:04But he was hitless yesterday.
16:05Truck out twice.
16:21They got the Brewers four and one in the playoffs even though they've only scored 16 runs.
16:27So you look at it and say these low scoring games they're built to win these and there's definitely something
16:32to that.
16:33Pat Murphy said though that's not let's not let that fool us that we're winning these games.
16:37We've got to be careful.
16:39The way we're winning not sustainable he said.
16:42And he pointed to the 13 strikeouts that they had yesterday and said my biggest concern for our team is
16:48I don't feel like our at bats are that mature at this point.
16:51So we've got to be more consistent better at bats and he said we're going to need the big home
16:56run at some point.
16:59Going to on one of his best home run threats in Contreras.
17:02I think both teams would like to steal from the other with their offensive approach.
17:13Brews would like a little more pop.
17:15Dodgers are like a little more face to base production.
17:22Yamamoto is one two.
17:24In the dirt.
17:25Oh it's amazing so far.
17:27I know it's early.
17:30His two strike pitches.
17:31There are there are so few non-competitive two strike pitches we've seen three of them so far.
17:37Right.
17:37Meaning he's always putting pressure on the hitter and the umpire with two strikes.
17:41He's not just throwing pitches to waste them.
17:55Milwaukee wastes no time.
17:57Back at square one on a base hit from Contreras.
18:03Oh how he got to that pitch.
18:06But he does and he's tied it out.
18:09Well part of the narrative again of changing the pitcher's dominance in their mind.
18:13Each pitcher feels dominant.
18:15This will go a long way to go.
18:17Wait.
18:17What?
18:18Because of the way they pitched and how the success they've get they have gotten.
18:22And you need the hitters to do something that changes their mindset a little bit.
18:26Early success in the first inning.
18:29Goes a long way.
18:34Tied at line.
18:35Jay Bowers looks at a curve outside.
18:40Bowers in game three against San Diego.
18:42Struck out four times but then a great game for reach base twice yesterday.
18:48On base six times the last two games.
18:55Bowers.
18:56Cops it fouled.
18:58The art of pitching.
19:07Up and in down and away getting it off the barrel of the bat.
19:10Even that hit right there reaching out.
19:12You know you'll take those even though you don't want to give up runs.
19:16You've got to get the softer contact the swing and miss and the quadrants covered.
19:21That's stress on the hitter right there.
19:23He's got to decide.
19:24Oh shoot that might be.
19:25And the more patient the Milwaukee Brewers can be the more stress it puts on the great pitching of the
19:33Los Angeles Dodgers.
19:37Two balls one strike on the Brewers home run leader this season and Jake Bowers.
19:43Bounces along first and foul.
19:45Already Yamamoto can feel that he's up against a different kind of challenge today.
19:50Ten strikeouts against the Braves in the division series.
19:53So when he got them to two strikes the Braves were one for 16 with 10 K's.
19:59Already in this first inning two two strike hits from Milwaukee.
20:04Got him at two strikes again here.
20:08And a pop up foul ground at third Muncie and Smith.
20:12Smith to the dugout.
20:13He makes the catch up against the rail.
20:16What a great play.
20:17My goodness.
20:18Catcher going that way with not a traditional glove to make that catch over the railing.
20:25That's a big out.
20:32Doing all he can to help his team out with the bat with the bat slumping makes the catch here
20:37two away.
20:39And it brings up Christian Yellich for his first at bat of this series.
20:49It was a tough decision for Pat Murphy yesterday to not play his captain.
20:52But against the lefty Tarek Skubal Yellich was on the bench.
20:56Division series though you see the numbers right there.
20:59Pat Murphy says the best they've seen him all year.
21:01They've seen him all year on the 1 0 for Yamamoto Yellich takes a strike as a slow curve ball.
21:12All it does is slow down these hitters in their timing and then they can zip by a fastball.
21:21Yellich has a high ground ball rate.
21:23This hits a lot of balls on the ground.
21:25He hits it hard.
21:28He hits it hard.
21:29It's through.
21:30I think I had 2 and 1.
21:33It's the worst season.
21:35Yellich's career.
21:36But he said he kept on telling himself as he fought through it.
21:38Tried to find his swings.
21:39One swing to the next day after day.
21:41If I could just get hot in October.
21:44Early indications that he's accomplishing that.
21:50Lures have tied it in this first inning.
21:52A 2 1 to Yellich.
21:53Fought off on the ground.
21:54As you said, Max Muncie's got it.
21:57That's the inning.
21:59Well, you've got a couple of excellent pitchers facing off in Game 2.
22:02But both offenses tallying a run in the first.
22:05Off and all and in Game 2 from Milwaukee.
22:07What a good time.
22:09How can I resist?
22:12Ain't looking for none.
22:13Stay connected to America's pastime with T-Mobile, America's best network.
22:18A run in the bank on both sides in the first inning.
22:21On to the second.
22:22Can we go in Game 2?
22:23Smith, Muncie, and Pahez coming up for the Dodgers.
22:26And for all the talk of Shohei Otani's struggles, Will Smith, 1 for 19.
22:31Dropped in the order third to 5.
22:33Leading off this inning for the Dodgers.
22:35Takes strike one.
22:36As you get things going.
22:37You know, it's getting on time to get that fastball and stand from being underneath.
22:41That's easier said than done when you've lost your mechanical cues.
22:44Fastballs were some of the things that he handles very well.
22:47Gap to gap.
22:48Great power.
22:49He's missing the fastball.
22:51That's out.
22:52The one thing that he can take away from Henderson is he's a good changeup hitter right on right.
22:57So I don't know if Henderson will throw him any changeups.
22:59You'll see more sliders and that cutter right there.
23:02Then you'll see changeups, I would think, against a guy who's been late on the fastball.
23:07Normally he's one of the best fastball hitters out there.
23:09Exactly.
23:10And I think that you can see at times, you know, yes, he was banged up.
23:13He came back and looked good.
23:15But he's been underneath.
23:16And underneath means you're just not getting the barrel of the bat out in front to connect with that fastball.
23:22It's beating you to home plate.
23:23And then you see a lot of pop-ups and fly outs.
23:27Pop-up right there out of play.
23:29In these playoffs against Hardstuff, Smith is 0 for 11 with five strikeouts.
23:34And you touched down and he missed a lot of the season with a neck issue.
23:36But coming back in September, hit 290.
23:39Looked like he hadn't missed any time at all.
23:42A good sign would be a right center hit on a Will Smith that tells you he's staying on the
23:48ball, not trying to lift it.
23:51Poked in that direction.
23:52On the move is free.
23:53He's there.
23:54To put it away for the first out.
23:56So even though that's an out, that's a better sign that I think Dave Roberts would like.
23:59Okay, maybe, maybe the process is starting to come back.
24:02Because when you can go to right center on a pitch away, that means you're more on time.
24:08And then when there's a mistake middle to middle end, you're able to pull that ball for power.
24:15One go on in the second inning up comes Max Muncy.
24:19Dodgers face Logan Henderson twice during the regular season.
24:23Beat him both times.
24:24Gave up just one run in 12 innings.
24:26And that lone run came off a home run from this guy.
24:29That's out to change the way it was a hanging change up over the middle of the plate.
24:33And you already see the movement on that change up.
24:35And he can change speeds on the change up.
24:37And it's only about three to four miles an hour.
24:39But it does give the illusion that it's floating to the hitter.
24:43And they don't stay back and hit it.
24:47I thought a little challenge here from Contreras.
24:50It looks like a little bit to the ball call.
25:00Contreras in back in the game in a couple of ways.
25:02Ties in with the base hit.
25:03Gets the overturned call right here with ABS powered by T-Mobile's network.
25:07Normally in the first inning, first hitter, you don't see challenges that work out very well.
25:11Well, Mookie Betts, it did.
25:12He drew a walk on that, scored a run.
25:16So I would say it was worth it.
25:22He just fell off of the bat and stayed in the box for a moment.
25:29But it landed foul.
25:31And that's that slower change up on the outside part.
25:33Now here, he's got two choices.
25:35He can go to a fastball up after you slow him down, try to speed him up with that fastball
25:40over the middle of the plate.
25:41I tell you what's amazing about Henderson.
25:43Majority of his pitches are in the zone.
25:45And they still don't hit him.
25:46That's a credit to his stuff and illusion that he gives with that fastball.
25:51Most guys are nibbling, trying to get chased, trying to get guys to expand the zone at this time of
25:56the year.
25:57He's like, I'll pitch in the strike zone with you.
25:59Opponents hit 155 against his fastball.
26:02That's second best in the league.
26:03They hit 170 against the changeup.
26:05That's fifth best in the league.
26:08He says even he doesn't totally understand how it happens.
26:11You see the numbers on it, and that gives him some evidence.
26:14But it's amazing.
26:17In this day and age where you see everybody trying to touch triple digits, he shows, and there are many
26:21guys like him, showing that you don't have to be overpowering velocity to get it done.
26:28Tries another two-strike pitch to Muncy, and gets him.
26:31Center-cut fastball, but a swing and a miss.
26:34That's what the changeups do.
26:36The back-to-back changeups.
26:38Right after he pulled that changeup, you knew that fastball was coming because it was going to make it faster.
26:46This is just great life, and the hitters behind.
26:49He's trying his best to see it and get the barrel out, and it's by him.
26:54Hitters against guys like this who walk back and feel like they have holes in their back.
26:58Pitches they feel like they should be hitting.
27:02Pitches they feel like they have holes in their back, and he's not as tall, obviously, and lanky, but his
27:11lower half, along with Yamamoto, is so strong that that's where he gets that power in that late life.
27:21Almost looks like the lower half is from a different guy.
27:24Yeah, no, it's fullback material, you know, put him in the stance and let him run up the middle
27:30because he sits on that leg like Yamamoto does, and he has such balance and confidence that when he goes
27:36to home play, it's going where he wants it to go.
27:40Six misses on nine swings on the hard stuff.
27:47I'll tell you, every pitcher's got that pitcher's butt and bottom, and he's got those thick legs and just has
27:53great
27:53great delivery to follow through, and he use all that energy towards home plate.
28:09Pajos lays off this time.
28:11Andy Pajos knocked in their lone run yesterday, started the playoffs 0 for 8, but he's 5 out of his
28:16last 10.
28:17He's the only guy for the Dodgers that's had a hit with a runner in scoring position in these playoffs.
28:25A 2-2 from Henderson, Pajos takes a change in the dirt, and he's worked at 4.
28:473-2.
28:49Down behind foul, and you see a pitcher standing like that, that tells you he's confidence in his legs because
28:55I'm sitting down.
28:57He's sitting there imaging him, I'm sure, thinking about when he gets back out there, how he's going to do
29:02the second inning, but he's ready to go, standing up.
29:12Left foul, just down, and a two-out walk for Pajos.
29:15He's had some of their best at-bats in these playoffs.
29:21That rewarding performance is sponsored by Capital One, mentioned at a moment ago, but he's the only guy that's had
29:27a hit with a runner in the scoring position for the Dodgers.
29:29One game for the division series, that tie-breaking base hit in the seventh inning, and then started the scoring
29:36in yesterday's game, the base hit against Mizorowski.
29:41Keeps his second inning alive with a free pass, brings up Kyle Tucker, makes the first pitch foul, didn't have
29:47a whole lot to show for it yesterday, but the Dodgers encouraged with his at-bat quality.
29:52Yeah, it's been specifically more connected with the swing, right?
29:56When he's going bad, it looks like he's got a long swing and swinging underwater and just missing the pitches.
30:01But when he's going good, it looks more fluid, it looks like on time, and that bat path stays in
30:06the strike zone long.
30:15Henderson has another hitter down 0-2.
30:22Playoff debut against San Diego last week, went five innings, gave up just one earned run.
30:27Even though Pat Murphy said it's the first time he's seen him really look nervous, able to pitch through those
30:32nerves and still give Milwaukee a shot to win that game in comeback fashion.
30:40Добавляйся на своих негативах.
30:421 and 2.
30:43Yeah.
30:43When you get to this level of
30:44baseball you got to be confident
30:46in what you do and that that
30:47confidence gets rattled at all.
30:49That's where nerves come in.
30:50I mean it's like if a hitter is
30:51so so good at something and you
30:53don't feel like you can get them
30:54out there's tension.
30:55But if you know you can make your
30:56pitches and you know that pitches
30:58you make are going to get anybody
30:59out that's where the confidence
31:00comes in.
31:02For pitchers.
31:04Another good take by Tucker and
31:06the count evens up.
31:18happened to see him go to the
31:20fastball away tried to elevate
31:21the fastball and has run of
31:22that fastball way to talk to
31:27here's his 2 2 was an elevated
31:30change up that Tucker fouled
31:31off talked about Tarrick's
31:36Google trade sweepstakes
31:37Субтитры делал DimaTorzok
32:13in the second game both teams
32:14are the run in the first to the
32:15bottom of the second we go it's
32:17a 1 1 ball game as Garrett
32:18Mitch leads off against
32:19Yamamoto a very bold like
32:23inning the fifth inning
32:24yesterday it was Mitchell that
32:25started it with a walk advanced
32:27the second a sacrifice came in
32:30to score one pitch later if the
32:31Brewers the decisive run in
32:33that ballgame Luis Lara's base
32:39hit 20 and a miss one ball one
32:41strike both teams are gonna have
32:42a hard time so far decently he's
32:44taking those pitch but Mitchell
32:45struggles with those kind of
32:47pitches against right handed he's
32:48got a high swing rate so if it's
32:50anywhere close to the plate with
32:51a splitter more than likely he's
32:53going to swing at it just like
32:56that and that's just scouting and
32:57that's just knowing the type of
32:59hitter and every hitter has a
33:00hole so you keep going there
33:01until he shows he's going to close
33:03that up in a particular game same
33:05thing with the Dodgers and the
33:06change up they're going to face
33:07they're trying to hit Henderson's
33:10fastball so they don't get to the
33:11change up and the same is here
33:14against Yamamoto here's this one
33:20two pitch on the hands bounce to
33:23the second time the up for the
33:25first time since game two of the
33:27division series bit of a wide
33:28throw there but caught by Freddie
33:29Freeman you'll find you know the
33:32Yamamoto often journaling between
33:33innings he keeps notes on his
33:35thoughts about his delivery and
33:37different matchups and he's a
33:38really good drawer apparently I
33:39didn't know well sketch like
33:40those are two good pages to look
33:42at matter of fact I'd wake up
33:43every day and look at those two
33:44pages affirmations affirmations
33:48one of the best postseason
33:49pitchers of this generation he's
33:51established himself has comes on
33:54the Cooper Pratt it's the idea of
33:57having that guy for a team with the
33:59Dodgers has so many superstar
34:00players but he stands among very
34:04few guys in the ability to count
34:06up you know a lineup and a team
34:08full of aces you just know when
34:10he goes out there what you're
34:12going to get to what's it take
34:18to be that guy besides the
34:19obvious of having really good
34:21stuff well it's a makeup of his
34:24mental approach look nothing's
34:25going to bother him it doesn't
34:26look like the exterior ever gets
34:28bothered by anything and that's
34:29the number one attribute that
34:31can't be quantified every single
34:32time by the looks of a pitcher
34:35and the stuff that they have
34:41fought off Edmond again a little
34:43more time this time to crack
34:45running two out and so when you
34:46have the confidence that no
34:47matter what you're going to deal
34:49with or face be it down on one on
34:51the road no problem down on the
34:54road and again no problem and I
34:55think the Dave Roberts watching
34:57him and seeing the body that he
35:01displays not only the body of
35:03work but his you don't know if
35:04he's winning or losing that's a
35:06great trait to have at this time
35:07of the year it's okay to pitch
35:09with emotions but emotions can get
35:11you off of the environment that's
35:15already raised 10 levels right
35:17when the postseason comes around
35:18it's it's instant crowd standing
35:23and adrenaline rushing and if you
35:26can calm that down that's the
35:28ingredients that's needed so
35:29freely who didn't play us who do
35:31the stupid starting his head to
35:32an old here Dave Roberts said he
35:34doesn't think he ever saw Yamamoto
35:36rattled right he got hardly
35:37sweats talked about what he's
35:39done following losses in the
35:41playoffs the last couple years
35:42how about a hostile road
35:43environment since the start of
35:45last postseason four starts on
35:47the road three four no he's
35:48given up one but think of what
35:50he's done in this day and age
35:51which is more marvelous than
35:53anything I could ever come up
35:54with statistically what he did
35:55last year is fantastic right
35:57postseason World Series he went
35:58to the World Baseball Classic he
36:00hasn't missed a beat this year
36:01he's making every one of his
36:02starts at durability
36:04that's want to that's wanting to
36:05be the guy and not everybody has
36:09that you know they're getting
36:10paid a good amount of money this
36:11year and he's not missing starts
36:13and he's he is the guy you can
36:16count on on this staff three
36:18straight MVPs in Japan not just
36:20Sawamura awards their equivalent
36:22of the Scion but MVPs and then a
36:24record contract with the Dodgers
36:27works at full against Freeland
36:2812 year contract first half of that
36:31rookie season there were some
36:32people saying I don't know if this
36:33is a good idea all this money to
36:34give it in had a great start at
36:36Yankee Stadium June of that
36:38rookie year where he gained
36:39confidence and has been a
36:41different guy and one of the
36:42best from that point forward his
36:44payoff to his great power but
36:47this is a perfect example he went
36:49three and on three different
36:50pitches got back in the count on
36:51two nasty pitches and three and
36:53oh no when the hitter he throws
36:54a curveball that's going to be a
36:56ball but trusting the hitter
36:57wants to swing that's just doing
37:00your homework and being able to
37:01throw any pitch that you want in
37:03any count Clyde in the center
37:13field Pa has is under it and
37:15after the long first inning
37:17Yamamoto retires the side in
37:18quarter in the second on some MLB
37:26trivia just ask Siri what team has
37:30the most World Series titles top
37:35three back here in Milwaukee
37:36Tommy Edmond leads off for the
37:37Dodgers against Logan Henderson
37:39misses away with his first pitch
37:41strikeouts through two innings for
37:43Henderson he's not given up a hit
37:45yet although a first inning walk to
37:47Mookie Betts came in to score
37:50Edmond back in the lineup first
37:51time since game two of the
37:52division series and he pays it
37:57off for the base hit to right
37:58field first hit of the day for
38:00the Dodgers comes from Tommy
38:02Edmond his first one of the
38:03playoffs well these are the two
38:07pitches that you're going to see
38:08a lot if you're the Dodger
38:09hitters that's the foreseam
38:11fastball which is out in front
38:12and then here comes that change
38:14up what has fade and movement
38:16which creates a problem for
38:18these hitters and a year where
38:20he almost had fifty percent one
38:22two three innings the Dodgers are
38:24making it tough early on with
38:25getting a runner on every inning
38:29leadoff man on two and three
38:30innings so far it was Betts in
38:32the first coming in to score with
38:33the walk probably the show but
38:37it's off for Pratt into the left
38:39field what about a tough play on
38:41a short hop right there but it is
38:43another misplay from the rookie
38:44shortstop in these playoffs after
38:46he committed three errors in the
38:48Diaz first there's your first
38:52pitch swing from Betts earliest
38:54we've seen him do it so far this
38:56ball eats up the shortstop right
38:59here and he's trying his best to
39:00get anything he can and hits him
39:03right on the heel of the glove
39:09yesterday Milwaukee made all those
39:11plays for the three double play
39:12turns Betts gets credit for the
39:14hit that's back to back hits for
39:16the Dodgers after they didn't have
39:17any the first two innings best
39:19chance all postseason so far with
39:21nobody on that I can remember the
39:22Dodgers have with the right guy at
39:24the plate and Freddie Freeman
39:26grounded out his first time Brewers
39:27are saying he might be right guy in
39:29the fact that hits into a lot of
39:31three double plays here he cranks a
39:33high line drive the deep right
39:34field Felix takes it away from
39:38Freeman up to third goes Tommy
39:42Edmond right after the Bulls
39:44defense lets him down free that
39:46picks him up.
39:49What a great play and a great read
39:51on a ball that was hit so hard a
39:55little bit of topspin that allowed
39:57this ball to come down and get
39:59this this was got a potential
40:01beginning still a big inning for
40:02the Dodgers runners on first and
40:04third see if Henderson does go to
40:11that off speed pitch against
40:13Hernandez trying to get him to
40:15roll over on a pitch to either
40:17third or shortstop first and third
40:20one away first one to Hernandez
40:23just like none of us are supposed
40:25to pick a favorite kid you're not
40:26really supposed to pick a favorite
40:27player when you're a manager but
40:29if you think if you gave some
40:30truth see him to Pat Murphy he'd
40:31tell you that that right there is
40:33his guy make up everything he
40:35thinks about how he plays the
40:37game to the best thing to come
40:40out of the division series he felt
40:42like Sal was back.
40:43Oh here's a throw away that's
40:45going to give the Dodgers the lead
40:48Henderson throws away the pick
40:49off and Edmonds in the score to
40:51make it two to one.
40:54and so a roller coaster for this
40:57Bruins defense in this third inning
40:58alone.
41:08Yeah two short hops that were really
41:10hard on both infielders right there
41:12one through from a throw and the
41:14other one from a bat.
41:22The Dodgers get that run in the
41:24first inning Mookie Betts takes
41:25the lead off walk which year and
41:27with a challenge in there advances
41:29the second on the ground out the
41:31third on a wild pitch and then
41:33scores on the sacrifice fly land
41:35a little bit of station to
41:36station baseball and in this
41:37third inning back to back singles
41:39in an air and they're back in
41:41front.
41:45Oh two from Henderson Hernandez on
41:48the ground a third step by David
41:50Hamilton.
41:55But the one thing that we talked
41:56about and coming over here is the
41:58Dodgers and their slug right but
42:00when they get on base they're not
42:01creating the same havoc that the
42:02Brewers do so it's got to be
42:04plotted it's got to be multiple
42:05hits they're not going to steal
42:07they're not going to bunt we're
42:08on the other side that's what the
42:10Brewers do and so when they have a
42:11man on first that seems innocent
42:13it's not because they have the
42:15threat of steel they have this
42:16threat of bunt they create so many
42:18different avenues for them to
42:19score once they get on base.
42:22Two outs for Otani while the
42:24Dodgers like you said not that
42:27team you're scared about when
42:28they get a guy at first if you
42:29help them out every team becomes
42:31that's right that's what the
42:32Brewers have done here.
42:34Dave Roberts told us we're not
42:36going to suddenly become the
42:37Brewers we're not going to be a
42:38small ball team that's going to
42:39be bunting and trying to generate
42:41runs like that we're going to
42:42need the slug.
42:44Gotten some help in this third
42:46and when it comes to the slug
42:48against Milwaukee the problem
42:49there is that the Brewers
42:50pitching staff that's what they do
42:52best is take that away they do
42:53take it away and surprisingly even
42:56here at home which is more of a
42:57hitter's ballpark I think people
42:59know.
43:04Got a tiny with a fastball in the
43:05first inning it goes with a change
43:08and misses.
43:12So today as we've kind of been
43:14pointing to the Dodgers beating
43:15the Brewers at their own game
43:17here sacrifice fly in the first
43:18inning taking advantage for the
43:21defense of mistakes in the third
43:25this one to Ohtani pokes at left
43:29side Hamilton weights on the Dodgers
43:35every taking the lead in game two
43:37fighting a little bit Brewers like
43:39the throwaway that's Tommy Edmond
43:41coming to score they try to tie this
43:44series up they lead game two to one
43:51Oh welcome back to Milwaukee I'm
43:54with Brewers manager Pat Murphy and
43:57Murph that last inning three hard
43:59hit balls second time through the
44:00lineup and a couple of defensive
44:02lapses what did you see from Logan
44:03and your team.
44:05Yeah I mean you can't walk the
44:06leadoff hitter which he did the
44:07first inning and then yeah I mean
44:10he's got to make pitches in
44:11spots he's done a pretty good job
44:13but a leadoff walk on a wild pitch
44:15led to the first run and then we
44:16don't make a play defensively like
44:20we can and he throws the ball away
44:21at first on a guy that's not running
44:23I don't I don't understand it
44:25it's just a little bit of a mental
44:26lapse from a young player but
44:27again he's a rookie and you know
44:29he's throwing the ball pretty
44:30well and I think we'll get some
44:33great energy thanks so much Mark
44:35thank you it is one of the
44:37youngest teams in the National
44:39League and yeah you got a rookie
44:40shortstop who not going to get
44:42charged with an error but play
44:44that he probably should have made
44:45and then the rookie pitcher on the
44:46mound throwing it away veteran
44:48Dodgers have retaken the lead here
44:50in the third it's David Hamilton
44:51in the lineup for the first time
44:53in this series taking a strike and
44:55it's two and two into the game
44:57with this guy's speed one of the
44:58fastest guys in baseball now my
45:06motos 2 2 well the Brewers so
45:09far so good they stuck out a lot
45:12yesterday not their norm and
45:15they're working the count and
45:16make it at least one of the
45:18the Dodgers great pitchers working
45:20hard to this point going into the
45:22third inning before you put this
45:24guy and it started an inning if
45:25you're Yamamoto though you're
45:26flirting to this game being tied
45:27like that flexed off of the hands
45:30left center field leadoff base hit
45:33for David Hamilton out of the
45:36nine spot comes through and now he
45:38can put his speed to work as a
45:39part-time player stole 30 bases
45:41this year well here's the split
45:47finger fastball that's so hard to
45:49pick up the fastball comes out on
45:50the same plane and makes it so
45:52difficult and then you see the
45:54dip in that pitch people don't
45:56understand that's the equalizer
45:57for a left hander facing a
45:59right handed pitcher they do not
46:01like the splitter cannot recognize
46:03it and it's hard to stay off of
46:04it first trying to do the same
46:07thing the Dodgers did in the top
46:08of this leadoff hit from the
46:10nine hitter and a run they would
46:12like top of the order Jackson
46:14Cheerio struck out his first
46:16time it's the only key for
46:18Yamamoto first time through the
46:19lineup Yamamoto it's not really a
46:33slide step but it might as well
46:34just be because his delivery to
46:36home is so quick and that's what
46:37you have to have in a game
46:39that's kind of changing now
46:41right we've made rules to
46:42enhance and promote more stolen
46:45bases that was a game that was
46:47going the other way to me that
46:55to me is still the one weapon
46:57that has not been utilized by
46:58teams huge leads when you're not
47:01going and what I mean by that is a
47:03huge lead your first move is
47:04back to first entice those
47:06throws because you only get
47:07three of them both right
47:16fielders making nice plays in
47:17this third inning long strides
47:20galloping into the gap to take
47:22away extra bases from Cheerio
47:27Tucker known for his offense but
47:29he's a pretty darn good defender as
47:31well and those long strides you
47:32talked about prevented an easy
47:34triple and a tie game now moto
47:40knows and appreciates his right
47:41fielder the one on one out he
47:44brings up Bryce to ring
47:46Dublin scored Milwaukee's run in
47:47the first inning Hamilton
47:50started to go in and stop the
47:55the reason I talk about drawing a
47:56throw over it's rare you see back
47:58to back throw overs because you're
48:00playing the numbers game put it
48:02back you know I'm not saying it
48:03hasn't happened but it's rare that
48:05a pitcher throws over the first and
48:07then the very next time goes over
48:08the first there is five stolen
48:11bases in the division series after
48:14they led the National League this
48:15year you know as we look ahead to
48:18the rest of this series at first
48:20glance Dodgers big starting pitch
48:21in games three but you don't have
48:24to dig too much deeper to find
48:25problems for L.A. tie the glass
48:28now and Blake Snell both struggled
48:29in the division series and they're
48:31the two more starting pitchers in
48:32the majors of controlling the
48:34running game now what my point is
48:48I'm I'm saying he's not going over
48:49there right now this would be your
48:51best chance even with two
48:52strikes two hits in the DS for
49:13terrain two hits the first two
49:15games here homerun yesterday the
49:17double today better lead this time for
49:20Hamilton leaning running here's the
49:24throw from Smith that doesn't pop
49:31out of his guard it wasn't the
49:33biggest jump I mean he's fast but
49:35it wasn't the biggest jump and I
49:37thought Smith would have had a
49:38chance he he had a chance and that
49:42ball popped out but that's what
49:44speed does now another runner in
49:45scoring position
49:49chance for Tureg and Milwaukee to
49:51tie it on this two two takes in the
49:55dirt so Pat Murphy perhaps pushing
49:59the right buttons again look at the
50:01line of decisions yesterday like
50:02Vaughn giving the start over the
50:07and a lot of stress on Muncy because
50:11he's shading over a left hander of
50:14course Betts has to keep him close
50:15don't think he won't steal third at
50:17some point in this inning and that's
50:18what you got to pay attention to
50:20that's what makes a pitcher
50:21uncomfortable he sees that as he's
50:24coming to a stretch that huge
50:26lead and then of course the timing of
50:28it for the runner and the other thing
50:29is with the runner at second that
50:30left side of the infield wide open
50:32for a good opposite field hitter
50:36playoff I thought Yamamoto wanted a
50:42challenge doesn't officially get
50:46delivered and it's the first walking
50:48shoot by Yamamoto and again this is
50:50a good pitch pitching coach mound
50:53visit right here okay because he's
50:55going to remind him of a couple
50:56things try to make quality pitches to a
50:59guy who likes to swing but also know
51:02that those two guys on base they can
51:04both steal they can both get to
51:07second and third how about Bryce
51:10terrain both at bats today got down
51:120-2 worked it full finished the first
51:15one with the double and here takes the
51:17free pass and so two aboard for
51:20Contreras
51:26came through with the game time hit
51:28in the first inning
51:35at a pitch that it was remarkable
51:38that he was able to get to it is
51:39the lowest pitch that William
51:42Contreras has ever gotten a hit
51:44off it put off of the ground and
51:49again months he's got a play in
51:51play back he's got to read the
51:52runner and the pitch at the same
51:54time so there's all kinds of
51:56things that could be going on
51:58where the Brewers want to create
51:59chaos and now it's up to Edmond
52:01Edmond has to control the lead
52:04and the the runner at second base
52:15William Contreras lifts the first one
52:18down the line
52:20throws the seats out of play
52:23won a World Series as a rookie in
52:25Atlanta all-star in his second season
52:27there and feels like hey I've found
52:29my spot I'm going to be here forever
52:31and he said his agent calls him and
52:32says you've been traded to Milwaukee
52:35and he said Milwaukee I'm from
52:38Venezuela he has come to love it
52:40here and it's mutual emotional
52:44leader of this team
