Opposition leaders staged a major protest march demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and calling for fresh elections in states where electoral fraud was alleged. Key opposition leaders taking part in the demonstration highlighted massive public turnout, asserting that students, women, and youth have joined across party lines to voice dissatisfaction. Protesters raised concerns over security clampdowns, detentions of citizens and media professionals, and the protection extended by authorities. Responding to allegations from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party that the demonstration instigates anarchy with foreign support, opposition participants dismissed the claims as familiar diversionary tactics. They argued that issues of electoral integrity were widely supported by the public and reiterated their commitment to continue street protests until institutional accountability is ensured and their electoral grievances are addressed.

00:00Sir, you are walking along with other leaders. What exactly is the demand, sir?
00:06Our demand should be a repoll, dismissal of the election commissioner and see that postal ballot will start.
00:21You are demanding that the CEC, Mr. Gyanesh Kumar, be dismissed?
00:25Yes, of course, he has to be dismissed. Repoll has to be organized in all those states where they have
00:31won through FCR.
00:32But Mr. D.K. Shif Kumar, the BJP says that you raise the issue of vote theory only when you
00:39lose elections.
00:40But in the states such as Karnataka or in Kerala, when you have won elections, you don't say that.
00:46In spite of their vote theory, our people have given us a mandate.
00:52Walking on the streets, are you happy the kind of turnout you've seen?
00:55Yes, it's a massive turnout and it's full of India Alliance. All the colleagues are there.
01:00And the march is a positive march. It shows the mind of every youth and every woman and every student
01:11of this country.
01:13And the India Alliance is united and we are standing together on an important day in the history of India.
01:20All right, sir. Good luck. Thank you for joining us.
01:23Walking on your way in protest, in solidarity. Are you happy with the kind of crowds that have come in?
01:29Well, actually, I've been happy with the crowds in the last two months.
01:33For the first time, we've seen the kind of crowds that have come in for your call.
01:37You made that call yesterday asking for civil society, students, youth.
01:41Right, right. No, that's encouraging.
01:42But please remember, you know, my sense of satisfaction comes from a fact that both the issues in which most
01:49of India is agitated are both something that Mr. Gandhi personally raised.
01:52And, you know, and for me to look at it politically, I'm not particularly concerned as to who leads the
01:57protests on the streets.
01:59It's who ideates it. It's really something that he brought out.
02:02He convinced Indians who were not convinced that there was something dastardly wrong going on.
02:07And I think people have kind of thought about that, accepted it, taken it as their own idea.
02:12And I think if you really ask, especially young people of India, I don't think they are worried under whose
02:16banner they are.
02:17They are under the banner of reclaiming their nation.
02:19There have been constant, you know, two press conferences back to back from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
02:25We had Anurag Thakur who just spoke, earlier on senior BJP leader Shivarad Singh Chauhan just spoke,
02:32basically suggesting that you're playing into a foreign hand to try and instill anarchy on the streets of the national
02:40capital in the country.
02:41You know, I don't want to belittle what the government say, but I almost want to say yawn.
02:46I think I've heard about this just too many times.
02:49Sorry, I mean, there's a particular expression in English saying yawn.
02:52It's really that.
02:53And my thing is, you are the government.
02:55You are not only the government, you claim that you have perhaps the world's most popular leader as your prime
02:59minister.
03:00Every nation in the country bows to you.
03:02In fact, they're scared of you.
03:03So find out who's supporting us.
03:06If you're thinking that such large leaders are doing something anti-national,
03:09they should not be allowed on the streets.
03:12Fair point, sir. Good luck.
03:13Mumtaz Patel, interesting choice of color?
03:17Well, it could mean a lot of things.
03:19And also probably for my own safety and protection,
03:22we saw the Bajrangal goons and the anti-social elements out on the streets yesterday,
03:28who were not being detained, by the way.
03:30Media journalists were being detained.
03:31Lawyers were being detained.
03:33Public was being detained.
03:34But those goons were all allowed to unleash their violence on the streets, on innocent people.
03:40So, yeah, I mean, what is going on?
03:43And all I can say is that this government knows that its days are numbered.
03:48They're trying very hard, very, very hard to protect one man, Gyanesh Kumar.
03:53Why?
03:53Why is the BJP trying so hard?
03:55And also unleashing the kind of violence it is via the police and security on its own citizens.
04:02What is the fear about?
04:04I don't understand.
04:05But, Ms. Patel, were you surprised that today the kind of police presence or other, you know,
04:11forces are not there in as much strength in numbers?
04:13Well, the Supreme Court did give out instructions yesterday that barricades cannot be put unnecessarily,
04:21people cannot be detained.
04:23Yesterday, we didn't see them following the Supreme Court orders.
04:25But hopefully, hopefully today, things might be better.
04:29But we wouldn't still be surprised if the police has some action plan after some time.
04:35We can see that Rahulji is now marching on the road.
04:37We're all together.
04:38And this is just the big thing.
04:40This is going to carry on now until and unless Gyanesh Kumar resigns.
04:45And after Gyanesh Kumar resigns, this government will also fall.
04:48I want to ask you one quick question.
04:50The last question.
04:50When there have been two press conferences, the government has taken a clear hard stand
04:55this time.
04:56Shivrad Singh Chauhan a short while ago and Anurag Thakur right now has practically said
05:02that this is a foreign hand which the Congress is playing into to create anarchy on the streets
05:07of the country.
05:08Foreign hand and communal tension, the easiest excuses this government has.
05:13They'll play on hyper-nationalism and communalism.
05:15And very soon, we might not be surprised if there's a call out for some war or some terror
05:20incident happens so that the whole narrative can be diverted.
05:23These are very old tactics by the BJP government.
05:26It worked probably from 2014 up till even a few years ago.
05:30But now the government, now the public is very well aware that these are just diversionary
05:35tactics.
05:35They're not going to fall for it, which is why you are seeing now that it's not just the
05:39opposition, but there is public from all across the country that is protesting on this issue
05:45and many other issues.
05:46Thank you, Ms. Patel, for joining us.
