Seline Kocher and Marco Turin open the doors to their sustainable wooden house and ceramicist studio in Lodtunduh, Gianyar, for a quiet Bali interiors tour filled with thoughtful design and lived-in charm. What began as a rented place during Covid became their home after they bought it from the architect, leaving Switzerland behind to build a life in Bali.

The small house has been shaped with care rather than excess: open living spaces, reclaimed ulin wood, bamboo details, more light through added glass, and a bathroom redesigned to feel more open and usable. The couple also adapted the bedrooms and terrace, balancing romance, weather, wind, and rain with practical changes that still keep the home calm and beautiful. Nearby, their Mahteh ceramics studio began as a coworking space for ceramic artists and grew into classes and production for restaurants.

This Bali home tour blends architecture, interior design, sustainable renovation, and ceramic studio life in one peaceful visit. It is a warm look at tropical living, reclaimed materials, indoor-outdoor flow, and creative work in a village setting surrounded by rice fields.

For viewers searching for a Bali house tour, sustainable home renovation, wooden house interiors, ceramic studio tour, or peaceful interior design inspiration, this episode offers a grounded look at eco-friendly living and creative lifestyle in Indonesia. It also suits fans of home tours, artisan spaces, and slow travel visuals with a calm, natural aesthetic.

00:01Hello, Bali Interiors. I'm Celine. This is our house, Maté. Come and take a peek in our paradise.
00:17I came to Bali six years ago to do an internship at Gaia Ceramic for eight months.
00:22And then I came back home to Switzerland and I said to my partner every day that I wanted to
00:28come and live in Bali.
00:29It took a while, but during Covid we came here for three months and we rented that house.
00:34So we stayed here for three months and I think after two weeks we went to see the owner of
00:39the house,
00:39the architect of the place, and we asked if the house was for sale and it was indeed.
00:43So we decided to leave everything in Switzerland and come and live here in Bali.
00:48The house has been built 23 years ago. It doesn't look like, it looks very, I mean still, it's still
00:54in a beautiful shape.
00:55I think it's 350 by six or something. So it's not a big house.
01:08This is a very small house and we took it as it was. I guess at first we wanted to
01:13build our house and design exactly what we wanted.
01:15But then, well, we had that small house and we realized that we don't need more to live.
01:19Those two spaces, well, the living area, we didn't change much.
01:24The only thing is the floor was lifted up when we came.
01:29Now we put some chairs, but it's actually a floor that you can lift up and you can sit like
01:34a Japanese style.
01:35On the other side, what we did is we opened, we put some glass so it would be more light
01:41and we could see more of the view.
01:43Basically here, that space, it's quite untouched. It's just a question of decoration.
01:48We found chairs and we found some kind of carpet here and there, some old furniture that you find a
01:54bit everywhere in Bali.
01:56For that space, it's just very simple, just a little bit of decoration.
02:04So when we came here, we did two renovations.
02:07So here there was a wall and because, of course, at the beginning, that house was just that.
02:12And this had been added a few years later, but they kept the wall here and there was just a
02:17little window here.
02:19And one day during the second renovation, I called my husband and I said, we should take that down and
02:27have something more open.
02:28And so there was a goudang, like a small house outside that was really deteriorating.
02:35But the wood, the doors were made out of hulin.
02:38So we took it back and we made the counter with it.
02:42So we bought this, but this is just the reclaimed wood of the abandoned place outside.
02:52So another major change we did was the bathroom.
02:55It was completely closed at first, actually, just all this was the wall out of stones.
03:00Actually, in the first renovation, we opened it all.
03:02We also had a blinder, but then we ended up with the windows again.
03:06And the shower was down here.
03:08So this is actually a hole that goes one meter deep.
03:11And we were showering down there with the shower here.
03:14That was very cute, but we were splashing water everywhere.
03:17So then we decided to add this hulin deck and we have the shower just here behind.
03:24So we really showering outside.
03:37This level, because it was Airbnb, well, it was for rent.
03:40There were two bedrooms and the walls were closed in between.
03:44There were two doors.
03:45We opened everything.
03:46We have the bed made with the same details than the kitchen.
03:51Well, we did two major things here.
03:53First year, when we came here, we found that it was very romantic, that everything was opened.
03:58But then it turned out that when there's wind and rain, all the rain is coming in.
04:04So then we found it less romantic.
04:06So the year after, we added some blinders here.
04:09But then when it was raining, everything was dark.
04:12So we decided finally to put glass and we closed everything with glass.
04:16So we can just have the windows sliding like that and close everything.
04:33Originally, we found that place with this extension, this terrace, but originally it was not existing.
04:40I guess every person who stayed here long enough added some things.
04:43But what we just did is that we changed the roof.
04:46We put the same plastic done in the kitchen and some lamps and also the blinders.
04:52Because here we have all these rice fields in front.
04:55And when there's a lot of wind, all the wind comes here and the rain would really just come completely
05:00in.
05:01So we put the blinders.
05:02This table, we found it well.
05:03We see them on the road, all this wood, these beautiful trunks.
05:07And we just asked if they could add, we asked if they could add the metallic feet.
05:12And the chairs, there was one prototype there.
05:14They're beautiful.
05:15So, well, we keep them.
05:24Okay, so this is our house and our studio is just a few steps further.
05:28Come with me.
05:33We whisper in the blues, and people pay some worries.
05:41But I'm just here with you.
05:44The frost could touch the rooftops, but it'll never touch more.
05:51Originally, I made this studio in the idea that it would be a kind of a co-working space for
05:57people who know about ceramic
05:58and who need to find a place where they can create, where I provide all the facilities.
06:05Slowly, we started to give some classes also because, of course, not everybody knows already about ceramic.
06:11So if people wanted to learn and then be able to use the space.
06:14And next to that, we started to have some restaurants asking for plates and cups and things for their restaurants.
06:21So we started a little production.
06:24So now we've hired some people to help also to make production.
06:29We did the renovation in two times.
06:31First time was just this one here.
06:33And then we started to be a bit, well, just not enough space, not enough shelves.
06:38And yes, so now it's been like that for more than a year.
06:41And it's just enough.
06:59Thank you Valley Interiors for taking a peek in our paradise.
07:02See you soon.
07:11See you soon.
