00:00He was not a prophet who was granted the miracle of splitting the sea.
00:05He was also not a rich king who controlled a magnificent palace with thousands of soldiers.
00:12However, the name Abadi is beautifully engraved on the pages of the holy Koran as the name of a noble letter.
00:22How can an ordinary human being achieve such a special position before the creator of the universe?
00:32Throughout human history, we know of great rulers who built pyramids, conquered continents, and amassed countless treasures.
00:44Their names are written on cold, worn tombstones.
00:49However, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala chose not to immortalize their worldly splendor,
00:57but rather immortalizes the string of words from a simple father.
01:04Every stanza of advice spoken by this father is guarded by revelation,
01:09read by billions of people from century to century,
01:13and become a life guide that will never be outdated by time.
01:18He is Luqman Al-Hakim, a chosen human figure whose story carries the greatest secret.
01:25about how to educate a child's soul towards eternity.
01:32In this modern era, when technology is getting more and more advanced,
01:37but the emotional distance between parents and children is getting further away,
01:41we often lose direction in educating.
01:44We provide them with the best facilities,
01:47but forget to give our soul.
01:51Here, Luqman's story appears as a lantern in the midst of darkness,
01:56calls us back to the true nature of parenting.
02:03Let's step back thousands of years ago,
02:08penetrating the fog of history into a time
02:11where the earth is still quiet from industrial noise.
02:15In the fertile land of Nubia,
02:18there lived a man whose appearance did not attract the attention of human eyes,
02:22but his soul was filled with the light of extraordinary wisdom.
02:30Scholars of interpretation state that Luqman was not of noble descent.
02:37He was a black man from Nubia,
02:41short stature,
02:42and snub nose.
02:44His work is very humble.
02:47Sometimes he works as a carpenter
02:50who spends his days chopping wood,
02:53and sometimes as a shepherd
02:56who patiently leads his flock.
03:00In fact, in several narrations it is mentioned
03:03that Luqman had lived a life
03:06as a slave who was bought and sold.
03:10However, low social status in the eyes of humans
03:13never hindered his soul
03:15to fly high to reach glory in the sight of Allah.
03:19He proved that true glory
03:23not measured by skin color or chains of slavery.
03:28Often we feel bound by economic limitations,
03:33social status,
03:34or our family background.
03:37However, Luqman taught that
03:40as long as the heart is attached to the creator,
03:43no worldly shackles can restrain one's glory.
03:48True freedom begins when the heart submits to God alone.
03:54Once Upon a time,
03:56His employer tests Luqman's intelligence
03:59by asking him to buy a sheep
04:02and bring out the best parts of the body.
04:07Luqman brought his tongue and heart.
04:09When a few days later,
04:13the employer asked for the worst part.
04:16Luqman returned with the same tongue and heart.
04:20This incident left his employer stunned.
04:25When asked why he chose the same part,
04:29Luqman answered calmly,
04:32that nothing is better than the tongue and the heart
04:35if both are good,
04:37and nothing is worse than both
04:40if both are damaged.
04:42This simple advice proves the depth of his thinking
04:46which is beyond its time.
04:50The title al-hakim is attached to his name
04:53means one who has wisdom or knowledge.
04:58Wisdom is not just intellectual intelligence
05:01or the amount of knowledge memorized,
05:04but rather profound abilities
05:06to put everything in its proper place
05:10and apply this knowledge in everyday life.
05:15When asked how he could achieve this
05:19such a high degree of wisdom,
05:23Luqman explained that
05:24the secret lies in his ability
05:27to hold the gaze,
05:29guard your tongue,
05:31honest in words,
05:32fulfill the mandate,
05:35and be more silent to listen
05:37rather than talking without benefit.
05:41For Luqman,
05:43wisdom will never remain
05:45in a heart filled with lies and betrayal.
05:49Honesty is the foundation of all knowledge.
05:53Meanwhile, the ability to maintain trust
05:56is the crown that adorns life
05:58a true believer.
06:00These two qualities are what make him respected.
06:03by friends and foes alike.
06:08The true wisdom of a man
06:11not only tested in the courtroom or in the market,
06:15but rather tested in his own home.
06:19Luqman understands that the greatest trust
06:23which was placed on his shoulder
06:24is to educate the next generation.
06:28He did not allow himself to be busy earning a living
06:31hindering his role as a soul educator.
06:35How Luqman approached his son
06:38filled with sincere affection.
06:41He didn't position himself
06:43as an authoritarian ruler in the house,
06:46but as a spiritual friend
06:49who guides with gentleness.
06:52This emotional approach is
06:54who makes his advice
06:56so easily absorbed into the child's heart.
07:01The Quran immortalizes dialogue
07:04between Luqman and his son
07:06as a very beautiful teaching monologue.
07:11Under the dim light of an oil lamp,
07:13the father began to pour
07:15pearls of wisdom
07:17that he had collected throughout his life
07:20into the vessel of his child's pure soul.
07:24Luqman's child is not a defiant child.
07:27He is a reflection of his early upbringing
07:31full of tenderness.
07:34Before advising with words,
07:36Luqman had already done it first
07:38building bridges of trust
07:40in the heart of his child.
07:41So that every advice flows
07:44sounds like a beautiful melody.
07:48Luqman begins each of his important advice
07:51with a very touching call.
07:54Yes Bunaya.
07:55An expression in Arabic
07:58which mean
07:59Oh my beloved child.
08:01This is not just an ordinary call,
08:04but rather an expression of deep love
08:06which breaks down all barriers of arrogance
08:09between parents and children.
08:12First and foremost advice
08:15what Luqman emphasized was
08:23Luqman knows very well that the main foundation
08:27of human life is tawhid,
08:30namely the pure belief that there is no God
08:34who has the right to be worshiped other than Allah SWT.
08:40Luqman continued with a firm sentence.
08:43Indeed, associate partners with Allah
08:46is truly a great injustice.
08:50Why is shirk called the greatest injustice?
08:54Because it aligns with the creator of the universe
08:57with weak and helpless creatures
09:00is the most obvious form of injustice.
09:04Luqman did not scare his son
09:06with the torment of hell first.
09:09He began by introducing the greatness,
09:13beauty and the oneness of Allah
09:16so that the child's heart is filled with love
09:20and deep admiration for the creator
09:23before the fear grows proportionally.
09:29After the obligation of monotheism to Allah,
09:32The Koran connects it with a will
09:34to be filial to both parents.
09:37Allah equates the command to be grateful to him
09:41with the command to give thanks to parents,
09:44shows how noble
09:46the position of father and mother in Islam.
09:50In particular,
09:52a mother's struggle is depicted
09:54very touching.
09:56His mother was pregnant with him
09:58in a state of increasing weakness.
10:02Nine months brought the burden of a new life
10:05in her womb followed by a struggle
10:08risking life during childbirth
10:10and breastfeed him until he is two years old.
10:14The weaning process lasts for two years
10:18are times of energy and attention
10:21a mother is completely drained
10:24to ensure the optimal growth and development of their children.
10:27Therefore,
10:29it is fitting for a child to dedicate the rest of his life
10:33to be filial and make his mother happy.
10:38However,
10:39Luqman gives very clear boundaries
10:42and wise in obedience.
10:45If both parents force you
10:47to associate partners with Allah
10:48with something you have no knowledge about,
10:52then do not obey them.
10:56Obedience to creatures
10:57limited by obedience to the creator.
11:01Even though children are forbidden to obey their parents
11:04in terms of sin or polytheism,
11:07God still commands
11:09and associate both of them well in the world.
11:13Differences in beliefs should not be an excuse
11:16for a child to be rude,
11:19disobedient,
11:20or neglecting their aging parents.
11:23Luqman's third advice
11:25brings us to a very high level of spiritual awareness,
11:30namely the concept of murokobah
11:32or aware of God's supervision.
11:35Luqman said,
11:37Oh my child,
11:39Really,
11:40if there is an act as heavy as a mustard seed
11:44and is in a large rock
11:46or in the sky
11:48or on earth,
11:50surely Allah will bring it.
11:53Mustard seeds are a symbol of something very small,
11:58trivial,
11:59and almost invisible to the human eye.
12:03Luqman wanted to instill faith in his son's heart.
12:07that there is not a single act,
12:10no matter how small,
12:12no matter how hidden,
12:14which escapes the knowledge and calculations of Allah SWT.
12:19Luqman closes this section by reminding,
12:24Indeed, Allah is Most Gentle, Most Thorough.
12:28God's gentleness enables him to detect
12:32every subtle vibration in our hearts.
12:36And his meticulousness ensures that
12:39no good deed will be wasted
12:42or unprosecuted crimes.
12:46Luqman's teaching method
12:48very revolutionary.
12:50He does not educate his children
12:52to behave well
12:53only when supervised by humans
12:56or his parents.
12:58He built an internal monitoring system
13:02in the chest of the child.
13:03An alarm of faith
13:05which will continue to sound
13:07wherever and whenever relatives are.
13:11After instilling faith,
13:14devoted,
13:15and spiritual awareness,
13:16Luqman took practical action
13:19which is the pillar of religion.
13:22He said,
13:23Oh my child,
13:25establish prayer.
13:27Prayer is the main means
13:30for a servant
13:31to stay connected with the creator
13:33all day.
13:35For Luqman,
13:37Prayer is not just a routine of empty physical movements.
13:42Prayer is a source of spiritual energy,
13:45a place to complain when the soul feels tired,
13:48and the strongest defense fortress
13:50who will look after the child
13:52from heinous acts
13:54and immorality that destroys morals.
13:56However,
13:58personal piety is not enough.
14:01Luqman wants his son to be an agent of change
14:04which is beneficial for the surrounding community.
14:07He advised,
14:09and order people to do what is good.
14:13A true believer
14:15must have social concern
14:17to spread kindness
14:19wherever he goes.
14:21The other side of spreading kindness
14:25is the courage to prevent crime
14:28and prevent them from being evil.
14:32Rejecting evil
14:33requires great moral courage
14:35because often
14:38this road is filled with challenges
14:40and hostility from people
14:42who feels disturbed in his pleasure.
14:45Luqman is very realistic in boiling.
14:48He knows
14:50that anyone who dares
14:52speak the truth
14:53will definitely face obstacles,
14:57ridicule,
14:57or even oppression.
15:00The path of da'wah is never paved
15:03rose petals,
15:04but rather filled with
15:06sharp thorns of trial.
15:09Therefore,
15:11Luqman immediately continued his advice
15:13with sentences
15:14and be patient with
15:16what happened to you.
15:18Patience is a protective shield
15:21who guards the heart
15:22so as not to give up hope
15:24when facing the storm of life's trials
15:27and guard your tongue
15:28so as not to complain
15:30by Allah's decree.
15:32Luqman emphasized
15:34that patience
15:35is not a sign of weakness,
15:37but rather the opposite.
15:40Indeed, that is what it is
15:42including the things that are prioritized.
15:44Only strong souls,
15:47sturdy,
15:48and noble character
15:49able to swallow
15:51the bitterness of the test
15:52with a smile
15:53and sincere surrender.
15:56Luqman's next pearl of advice
15:58enter into the realm of social ethics
16:01and everyday politeness.
16:04He said,
16:05and do not turn away
16:08your face of a human
16:10because of arrogance.
16:12Luqman wants his son to grow up
16:14be a friendly person,
16:16respect everyone
16:18regardless of their social status.
16:22He added,
16:25and do not walk
16:27on earth with arrogance.
16:30The way a person walks
16:32reflects the contents of his heart.
16:34Stunning steps
16:37arrogantly
16:38is a sign of the heart
16:40empty of gratitude
16:41and filled with
16:43disease of self-conceit.
16:46Luqman's Warning
16:47very strict about this.
16:49Indeed,
16:50God does not like
16:52arrogant people
16:53again proud of myself.
16:56Arrogance is
16:57God's great garments
16:58which should not be used
17:00by his weak creatures,
17:02which was created from
17:03a drop of despicable semen.
17:06Luqman advised,
17:08and simplify it
17:10you in walking.
17:12It means,
17:13be natural,
17:15mid,
17:16not too slow
17:18to the point of seeming lazy,
17:19and not too fast
17:21to the point of losing decency.
17:24Balance in attitude
17:26is the key to moral beauty.
17:31Luqman's last advice
17:33in the Quran
17:34touching on very detailed things,
17:37but crucial in communication.
17:39And soften your voice.
17:43Speaking in a loud voice,
17:45rough,
17:46and shouted,
17:48open a sign of strength of character.
17:50But,
17:51a sign of loss of self-control.
17:55Luqman gives a sarcasm
17:58very sharp
17:59for those who like
18:00screaming for no reason.
18:03Indeed,
18:04as bad as the sound
18:06is the sound of a donkey.
18:08This parable
18:09teaches us
18:11to always maintain
18:12verbal tenderness,
18:14so that our words
18:15heard with respect.
18:18If we reflect back,
18:20Luqman Al-Hakim's parenting method
18:22very comprehensive.
18:24Starting from
18:25faith improvement
18:27as the root of life,
18:29followed by
18:30prayer service
18:31as the stem,
18:32good social relations
18:34as its branches,
18:36and noble morals
18:37as its sweet fruit.
18:40Even though Luqman Al-Hakim
18:42not a prophet
18:43or king,
18:45his wisdom
18:46in educating children
18:47has made it
18:48eternal parenting guru
18:50for all mankind.
18:51May we
18:53as parents
18:55and prospective parents
18:56able to emulate
18:58softness
18:59and Luqman's firmness
19:00in guiding
19:01our beloved child
19:02towards safety
19:04in this world and the hereafter.
19:05enjoy.
19:05Thank You.
19:05enjoy.
19:05enjoy.
