02:07This concludes the MOU exchange ceremony.
02:11Excellencies, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, we will now commence with the joint press conference
02:17with the statement by the Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia.
02:22Mr. Azizid, can I start?
02:24Please.
02:25Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
02:27So, very good afternoon, late afternoon, and it's a real honour, pleasure to welcome my dear brother,
02:41Adat Rais, President Abu al-Fatah al-Sisi from the Arab Republic of Egypt and colleagues.
02:53It's difficult to begin.
02:56How do I begin?
02:58Because I'm dealing with a great friend.
03:02I'm dealing with a person who have shown so much affection and support.
03:11And coming from a country with thousands of years of civilization,
03:21educated thousands of our students for decades, mainly from Al-Azhar, of course,
03:29but also from Anshams and Alexandria and so many other universities.
03:34And the contribution born for generations, for centuries, our King Sultan Ibrahim mentioned in the meeting
03:48about his Amarhum, grandfather, that visited Qahira in 1898-something.
03:59And in the Tilawah al-Quran last week, I made reference to Al-Manar in 1930 by the then editor,
04:13Mr. Abdul Rashid Reda, Sheikh Abdul Rashid Reda, corresponding with a Malay scholar, an Alim from the Malay world,
04:25asking about what is the future Mustaqbal, lihaz al-Din, of this religion.
04:35Amar Rashid Reda then asked Amir Shaqib Ar-Salan of Morocco,
04:41and that came the beautiful thesis, why Muslims are behind and others in Europe are succeeding,
04:51because of knowledge, because of discipline, because of unity.
05:00Things that President Abul Fatah Assisi have mentioned to me from his hadith, Al-Qalbi Bilqad, from the heart.
05:11So I'm actually ignoring my text, I don't know what to say, because I'm dealing with a different situation here.
05:22So, forgive me for giving that sort of introductory remarks, which is not cleared by the Minister of Foreign Affairs
05:31Mafia Protocol.
05:36So, thank you again.
05:40This visit, of course, is long overdue.
05:44It's the last 30 years since the last President was here.
05:50And it is amazing, because the relationship is not political or diplomatic.
05:57You ask any man or woman in the street, they would know Egypt, Musa, the history from the time of
06:09Jamal al-Nasr,
06:10or the days of the Firaun or Tutankhamen, you ask anyone, they follow.
06:15So, and I am quite an exception because I know a bit more, Midan Ubra and Umi Khalthum, and we
06:24mentioned Al-Azhar, Hussain Haikal,
06:29and you didn't mention Seema Jamal, Seema Gamal.
06:33No, please, please.
06:35No, no, to show about the society, please, to show how we love the culture and society.
06:43So, let this visit of our great friend be more meaningful in terms of cementing that collaboration.
06:55So, both our foreign ministers have agreed to have a joint commission meeting first quarter of next year,
07:02and following that to focus on trade and investments on transportation flight regularity,
07:17because whilst we have achieved this phenomenal increase this year, rising to 74.7 percent of trade,
07:31but then it is from a very, very low base.
07:36You are doing well under your leadership, Mr. President, the economy, first unity economy of Egypt,
07:45and Egypt, of course, a very important country in the Arab world and in Africa.
07:52Therefore, the collaboration with Egypt will give Malaysia an immense role and opportunity to expand our trade
08:06and general investments, tourism in all fields.
08:14We have set up an Arabic center here, thanks to you, and Sheikh Al-Azhar, who was here, who then
08:23initiated that.
08:25And I said to the president that you have done remarkably well in the past and present by giving the
08:32support to Sheikh Ali Jumah,
08:36the Sabiq Mufti of Egypt, who has been a renowned scholar and respected by too many people here,
08:45and recently the minister of Su'ud and Islamiyah, Awqaf, of Osama.
08:54So, inshallah, we'll continue to do that with the Islamic affairs department and the minister here to increase.
09:03But I think beyond that, areas like semiconductor, ENE, agriculture, pharmaceutical,
09:10because we have been trying to solicit pharmaceutical products from countries, emerging economies in BRICS countries,
09:24and I think Egypt has that potential to be one destination that we solicit the pharmacy from there.
09:35Other than that, education of course is in the field, and I've said to the president, there's not only Al
09:43-Azhar,
09:44which is still important in terms of Islamic education, but then you have expanded in terms of ENE, digital technology,
09:52in AI, and also in engineering and medicine. Many, many of our doctors were trained in Egypt,
10:02so I don't want to get the impression that Islamic studies, it's important, it is very important,
10:07because the approach is moderate, was a sort of trend, but education should cover other fields of study.
10:18So, again, our defense ministers also here, but I think we should collaborate more on defense procurement and also joint
10:29training in collaboration.
10:31Although we are distant away, but the heart is close, yes. Distance is of course, it's very far, Egypt, but
10:44then it's a different arrangement.
10:46That's why you can see my colleagues would know that we have got many leaders in the past, but my
10:54attitude, my engagement with you is certainly different.
11:00So much, thank you again, because you have given us this sort of opportunity to enhance this sort of relations.
11:10We discussed, of course, international issues, the unsettled problem in the streets, homos and affecting Iran,
11:22and we have taken a strong position vis-a-vis the atrocities inflicted upon the people of Palestine and Gaza,
11:30due to the intransigence and violence perpetrated by Israel, and I'm happy to say that
11:39you have also assisted us enormously in many of our efforts to provide assistance in a small way,
11:49as not comparable to what Egypt has done. You have given so much help and assistance to the Palestinians,
11:56but in a small way we did, but we did through you and through your office personally.
12:03And also, when we brought in the injured Palestinians from Gaza,
12:12we coordinated through your office and your military intelligence, and I must, on behalf of Malaysians,
12:20as a whole, who feels very close to Egypt and the Palestinian cause. Thank you again, and shukran.
12:52I thank you, my dear friend.
12:57Well, your excellency, I don't have your skill, and I don't have the same sweet words and the charm
13:08that you are inspiring. So in no way I'll be able to win this.
13:25You're a charming personality, you're an inspiring person, so I believe that I don't stand at that.
13:39All appreciation and respect to your ex-Supremers, and to your great...
14:00And it's been a great pleasure being here.
14:04Thank you very much for the generous hospitality and a warm welcome that we have been afforded,
14:10whether I just want to be more kind of person.
14:25And allow me also to thank you for allowing us this opportunity to come visit your great country.
14:50And out of recognition and respect,
14:53his majesty, his majesty, the king and your ex-Supremers,
14:58the invitation for you both to come to Egypt and say it publicly in the press conference.
15:27I believe that throughout the meetings that we have had that have been covered by the media,
15:34the meetings speak much about the size of the understanding, the mutual trust,
15:41the reciprocal political will of both parties to enhance our cooperation
15:49between the two countries, Egypt and Malaysia, and take our relationship to our new level.
16:01And these relations are always built on mutual respect and development in all fields.
16:28And I would be a remorse if I don't thank his majesty the king and your ex-Supremers
16:34for awarding me the medal of the state crown, the sublime state crown as a recognition of me.
16:47And this, as a matter of fact, speaks much to the depth
16:50and strength of the relations between our two countries.
16:53saying it's hard for the
17:15as far as the future,
17:51Thank you very much.
17:53Ladies and gentlemen, I believe that you can see the size of the understanding and the mutual preparedness and the
17:59will here that we both have.
18:06His Excellency, the Prime Minister, and myself emphasize the importance of enhancing our relations,
18:15and we have agreed that the Joint Commission that will be held in the fourth quarter of the next year
18:25will be a very good venue
18:27and opportunity to address all of the areas of mutual interest and follow up all of the topics of cooperation
18:36that have been raised either through our discussions in the extensive meetings or whatever will be updated
18:44so that we can lay the right foundation for a big launch of developing our relations on the various fronts.
18:55There is one thing to remain.
18:58That's my role and the role of His Excellency, the Prime Minister, to facilitate, to encourage,
19:05and to make the work streamlined so that we can have a joint success story.
19:34Thank you very much.
19:41We're rubbing together the horizons of cooperation on the various fronts so that we can ensure the common interests of
19:51our two countries,
19:52making sure that we are optimizing the potential and the capabilities of both countries.
19:59Now, the potential is huge, and I believe that if we combine forces with the will that exists, with the
20:09sincerity,
20:10and the dedication that we give to our collaboration, I'm quite sure the end result will be different,
20:18and our officials will have more deliverables seen as a product of this relationship.
20:39We're talking about vital areas of energy and renewable energy, manufacturing, electronics, agriculture, and food industries.
20:52I want to say that we also talked about a very important thing about a lot of people,
21:00and the understanding of the entire leadership and the world that we have in terms of knowledge of the people,
21:07and the learning of the world that we have in terms of knowledge and education,
21:09and the education of the community is a big part of our knowledge.
21:17and we just have to advertise in all the world
21:22and we also have to distribute them
21:27and they have to do with the job
21:30and we will strive to sell it
21:34and we will strive for everyone who comes in to take this
21:37educational discipline
21:38and we need to increase in this world
21:41and we will not only just
21:44It's not only for the students but also for the students and the students, and this is what we're going
21:51to do in Egypt at the moment.
21:56So again, one extensive area that we are looking very attentively to is the importance of the preachers, of the
22:08clergymen,
22:10regarding the practicing of moderate Islam, and we talked together about how instrumental Azhar is in this particular regard,
22:21and it is a well-established institution that has been teaching the moderation of Islam for over a thousand years.
22:30We are receiving, as Egypt, receiving students, males and females from all over the world, especially from Malaysia,
22:40where we are really proud of, they are very bright young men and women,
22:46and we are proud of them and proud of everybody who comes to seek education and knowledge in Egypt.
22:53We are standing ready not only to increase the number of undergrads or students but also to receive scholars and
23:05preachers who are already employed
23:10so that they can be reintroduced to the versions of moderation and tolerance of Islam.
23:43Ladies and gentlemen, our today's talks have been an opportunity to share views on the fast-unfolding events,
23:50on the regional and international arenas.
23:54I converged with His Excellency the Prime Minister on the importance to de-escalate and push for diplomatic solutions,
24:02of the various crises so that peace can prevail and development can prosper among nations and peoples.
24:28I would like to seize this opportunity to stress Egypt's relentless efforts to stop the escalation in the Middle East.
24:36However, this requires consolidated efforts by all parties to establish peace and uphold the international law,
24:44particularly with regard to the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity and the non-interference in their domestic affairs.
24:52Thank you very much.
25:21I discussed with His Excellency the Prime Minister one of the most important issues all over the world and particularly
25:30in our region.
25:31This is the Palestinian issue.
25:33It is central, very central as it is to the region.
25:37We stress together the necessity for a just and comprehensive settlement according to the international resolutions and the two-state
25:45solution to ensure a Palestinian independent state is established on the borders of the July 4th, 1967, with East Jerusalem
25:56as its capital.
26:13I would be very mass if I don't applaud Malaysia's supporting stance regarding the Palestinian issue and its keenness to
26:21provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people and also hosting Palestinian sick and injured
26:27people to get medical care here in Malaysia.
26:45I also discussed with His Excellency the President the developing issues, the unfolding issues, and the African horn, and how
26:55the ramifications can happen.
27:19I just want to confirm here that there is a total convergence between myself and His Excellency the Prime Minister.
27:28regarding the issues of the region and the world that the political and the diplomatic track and respecting the international
27:39law are the only way to find lasting and permanent solutions to the crisis and conflicts.
28:04Thank you very much.
28:07Your Excellency, Prime Minister Dr. Anwar Ibrahim, it's been a great pleasure to meet you today.
28:15I look forward to a closer collaboration between our two countries that ensures our common interests and those of our
28:22Islamic nation.
28:23I wish Malaysia and its brotherly people prosperity, stability, and progress.
28:29And thank you.
28:31Thank you, Your Excellency.
28:34Excellencies, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, we have reached the conclusion of our joint France conference.
28:41And thank you very much.
28:43mutual cioè
