The aorta is the largest artery in the human body and the central arterial pathway of systemic circulation.

It begins at the left ventricle, passes through the ascending aorta and aortic arch, then continues downward as the descending thoracic and abdominal aorta.

Along its course, the aorta gives rise to major arterial branches supplying the heart, brain and head, upper limbs, abdominal organs, kidneys, pelvis, and lower body.

In this Body Spectra 3D visualization, follow oxygen-rich blood from the left ventricle into the aorta and watch one central vessel distribute blood through an enormous branching network.
