A South Australian farming community is backing a long-serving volunteer ambulance officer who was stood down last week. Fellow volunteers in the town of Pinnaroo are refusing to work at the ambulance station until an independent investigation is held.

00:01The Pinaroo and nearby Lamaroo Ambulance Services respond to about 10 call-outs a week.
00:09But the operation of the Pinaroo station's been interrupted by a long-serving volunteer being stood down by the SA
00:17Ambulance Service.
00:18The current issue is based around, I guess, accusations of wrongdoing by Rob Boleyn, one of its members,
00:26really a Foundation member, been with the service for 48 years.
00:29That decision has led other volunteers at Pinaroo to withdraw their services in support of their colleague.
00:36The effect that's having on the rest of the volunteers is that they're standing in solidarity with Rob,
00:42they're not going on roster, and that's a critical service to a rural community like this.
00:48The local member says the volunteers will only return to work if the Government orders an investigation
00:54into the way the situation has been handled by the Ambulance Service.
00:59They're calling for an independent investigation, and I think an independent investigation is a fair and balanced way to deal
01:04with it.
01:05A spokesperson for the SA Ambulance Service says while they can't comment on confidential individual matters,
01:12any allegations are investigated fairly and in accordance with policies and procedures
01:17to ensure a safe environment for all staff and volunteers.
01:22While locals wait for a response from the Government,
01:26the SA Ambulance Service says Pinaroo is being staffed by volunteers from another location.
