00:00If you would have said before the season, hey, you start the season two and two.
00:06You don't know how it's going to look, but you're two and two.
00:09I would have said, I'm happy with that.
00:11I would take that all day because that's kind of what I thought they'd be.
00:16But the way it turned out, getting drilled by the Jags, you know what?
00:21Bad day for the Pats on two Sundays ago against the Jags.
00:24But give me the win.
00:26I did not have them beat Buffalo.
00:28The win in Buffalo at Buffalo with the new stadium, to me, it kind of makes up for the disappointing
00:36loss to the Jags.
00:37Was the Jaguars game, are we going to look back and look at that game as a look at ourselves
00:43in the mirror type game?
00:44Yeah, because they were embarrassed.
00:46Now, Jones and Keith did their tears today of NFL teams.
00:48They had the Jags on the top line, best of class.
00:51They beat the Bengals.
00:52They do look good.
00:53So I think the Jags are legit.
00:54I would agree with them.
00:55Don't you think they're going to be there at the end?
00:56The only problem with them is that I don't have any faith about them in the postseason.
01:01Like, they've got to prove it to us.
01:02I think that they are playing.
01:04I mean, what I saw against the Patriots, they look damn good.
01:08And the defense looked fantastic.
01:09I just don't know how you can take a look at this team now and say anything's for certain.
01:16Whether they're going to continue to play the way that they have been or whether or not they're going to
01:20fall back into their old ways.
01:21And that's why, Ted, I wanted to see, is there something that you saw about all of these different aspects
01:27of the game that had improved?
01:29And we've named a bunch of them.
01:30Drake May's play.
01:31The play calling was so different.
01:33But Romeo Dobbs, Hunter Henry, my God, who had been absolutely missing.
01:39Can you kind of tell me, from what you saw, what of the elements that worked that weren't working before
01:44do you have a pretty good confidence are going to continue in the right direction?
01:48I have a small list of things.
01:50And you've mentioned already four of them.
01:52And here's what I think is sustainable.
01:55So one of them is, going into that game, the Patriots were the worst in the NFL in usage of
02:04motion through those first three games.
02:06And in this game, they motioned 74% of their plays had motion in it.
02:14That was the most since any Patriots offense since 2015.
02:19Wow.
02:20So they went from never motioning to, like, an historical amount of motioning from one week to the next.
02:27Why weren't we motioning before?
02:29Here's my theory.
02:31They had Drake May in those first three games making checks and audibles to what he saw.
02:37He was reading the defense.
02:38He was, whatever the play was, he didn't, okay, they're showing too high safety.
02:42Let's check to a run.
02:43And it was the same formula for the first three games.
02:46And it wasn't working.
02:48Using motion helped not only Romeo Dobbs, it helped Efton Chisholm, and it helped Hunter Henry.
02:55Well, why would it help those guys?
02:57Because they do short motions off the line, and it helps them get into the routes easier, and it avoids
03:05them getting jammed at the line of scrimmage.
03:07So the timing of the play are better when you use motion.
03:10It makes the defense think more, makes them react more, makes them adjust more.
03:15And just a slight hesitation from the defense is all you really need maybe to get a guy open.
03:20So can we continue with the motions and cut out the audibles?
03:25But do you trust McDaniels to keep doing that?
03:27I don't, I don't know.
03:28You know what, he's a game-playing guy.
03:30Every week it's something different.
03:32And so he doesn't want, you know, it's funny because they were so teed up and cued into what he
03:38was doing in his offense.
03:39It was so predictable.
03:40Josh likes to, well, if I'm doing 75% motion this week, I'm going to, I'm not going to do
03:44any next week.
03:45And I hope he doesn't think that way because the motions benefit this offense so much.
03:51It's not, it's crazy to think.
03:53All right, so Romeo Dobbs, finally, Rich, you've been talking about this.
03:56They ran him in routes that he's actually excels in.
04:00The routes that he was running in Green Bay that made him a desirable free agent pickup, they did in
04:07this game.
04:07Yep.
04:08The second, fourth, and three in the second half.
04:10It was a five-yard out route to the wide side of the field.
04:13That's what Tice said last week.
04:14That's exactly what we're talking about.
04:15Yep, exactly.
04:16Dude, he did, that's his money play from Green Bay.
04:19Yep.
04:19Why weren't we doing that before?
04:21Oh, we got to, we got to ease into the system, our season.
04:26Okay, so that's sustainable.
04:28Romeo Dobbs, Hunter Henry is sustainable.
04:31The game he had was excellent because he's physically, he's just not himself.
04:35And you need him to not get jammed at the line of scrimmage.
04:38So have him in motion.
04:40That helps him.
04:40The defense, I'll say this.
04:42Because the blitz schemes and the disguises were amazing in this game.
04:47Yeah.
04:47And that is sustainable as well.
04:50And then what?
04:51Didn't blitz a lot, by the way.
04:52Per the numbers, 25%.
04:53That's pretty low for them.
04:54Yeah.
04:54Yeah, but they showed blitz a lot.
04:56They showed a lot, yeah.
04:56Right?
04:57Yeah, Josh Allen never looked comfortable.
04:59Like, the entire game.
05:00And you know why he was holding the balls more than much?
05:02Is because we didn't blitz him.
05:04And we would show blitz and then back out.
05:06And he thought, oh, he was getting one look and it was something different.
05:09So where I wanted to go with the ball is not there.
05:12One other thing is the aggressiveness in game management from Bright Grable.
05:18Yeah.
05:18That is the thing that I don't think is sustainable.
05:21Okay.
05:21I just think you've got to be very careful.
05:24That's the way he's been.
05:26Don't you think?
05:26Really?
05:27You think it's been a really consistent?
05:28Mike Riverboat gambler going back to last year.
05:30A lot of fourth downs.
05:30But I think that he specifically went into this Buffalo game and said, you're not going
05:34to beat Josh Allen with field goals.
05:36And that's what I thought when I saw him doing that.
05:39When they play the Dolphins, are you going to be going for him?
05:41Right.
05:41Right.
05:41Right.
05:42And by the way, he shouldn't.
05:43No, that's true.
05:43The odds are eventually going to go against you, too.
05:47I just think that's what I...
05:48So if you're...
05:49But he's a gambling man, so we'll see.
05:50And then the other last thing.
05:51The run game was not that impressive, but it was effective.
05:55Yeah.
05:56I think they can have an effective running game.
05:59Maybe not a dominant running game, but an effective one in the sense that 27 carries
06:03from the two running backs, that is what led to a big part of Josh Allen not being on
06:09the field that much.
06:09The Patriots beat them in time and possession by eight minutes.
06:12That's awesome.
06:12It was because they were committed to running the football game.
06:14But did you watch Bijan last night and then Cook?
06:17And you see some of these guys, Jameer Gibbs, and it's like, wow.
06:19You don't have a premier running back.
06:21Why can't we have that guy?
06:21Yeah, you don't.
06:22But Travion occasionally will give you that speed.
06:25When they got him on the jet sweep on the reverse, he looked good.
06:28Get him in space.
06:28Get him in space.
06:29And Drake shouldn't be your number one rusher either.
06:32But when you take a look at Ramondre and Travion, I think they both had close to 50 yards each.
06:36All right.
06:37100 yards rushing.
06:39As you said, if anything, it killed the clock and kept Josh Allen off the field.
06:43So that's obviously a big win.
06:46But I've been waiting for this.
06:47I'm sorry.
06:48We need to take a look.
06:48Oh, look who it is.
06:50Ladies and gentlemen, line one, Sean from Buffalo.
06:53Oh, no.
06:53Sean.
06:54My ears were ringing real bad, so I figured I'd turn on the radio and see how my friends
06:59were doing.
07:00All right.
07:01So, Sean, how are you feeling today after that nice little loss that you were so confident
07:06about?
07:08I'm heartbroken, but it's week four, so I'm not jumping ship like you guys.
07:12And I love how week four win makes you guys so uplifted.
07:15Like, it's amazing.
07:16Week four, we got it.
07:17So, our defense is absolutely abysmal.
07:20We used to be terrible against the run.
07:21Now, our second day, we don't even...
07:23There's so many problems with the...
07:25I can't even...
07:26I got so many points.
07:27Like, you guys are right.
07:28You guys...
07:29I hate to say it, but you guys didn't blitz Josh a lot, but they kept so much pressure
07:32on the line.
07:33The tight ends were taken out of the game.
07:35Kinkade and Knox did nothing.
07:36Allen threw them to them like one or two times each, so he was screwed on that.
07:39They were...
07:40He had so much little time.
07:41He never got out of the pocket.
07:42They just kept so much pressure on him.
07:44And the last play, when he threw that interception, like, we had three timeouts.
07:47We could have gone...
07:48We could have did something.
07:50And then...
07:51You got to say...
07:52Just admit you're worried, Sean.
07:54Admit it.
07:54No, I'm not worried at all.
07:56What?
07:56Did you hear Joe Brady?
07:58Your coach is a puddle.
08:00Yeah, I know, because he lost to you guys.
08:01It's terrible.
08:02He shouldn't have lost to you guys.
08:03He's miserable about that.
08:05We were at the game.
08:06My wife's owner of Pat's stuff, so we talked to all the Pat's fans we saw, and you guys
08:10were acting like Bills fans going to play Brady.
08:12Like, it was so funny.
08:13Like, they were like, well, hopefully it's a good game at least.
08:15Nobody was like, we got this.
08:17No, no.
08:17Nobody said...
08:17No, our producers picked it.
08:19Jackson's picked it.
08:20I got to ask Sean.
08:21I'm not buying it.
08:22I'm not buying it.
08:22I don't listen to Jackson on the radio.
08:23I don't listen to Jackson on the telephone, so I didn't hear him say that, so I don't know
08:26what you guys are talking about.
08:27Hey, Sean, what do you think of your head coach, Joe Brady?
08:30Because I'm not sure he's really the right guy.
08:33We're 3-1 right now.
08:35We're okay.
08:35Like, we're all right.
08:36The same thing happened last season.
08:38We started out great, and then we played you guys, and you guys beat us when you shouldn't
08:41have.
08:42So I'm okay with it.
08:43Like, I'm not...
08:44This isn't doom and gloom.
08:45Like, it's okay.
08:45How'd things end last season?
08:48You guys are ready.
08:49You guys had an easy schedule, and you guys played a terrible defense yesterday, and you
08:53guys are like, our offense is back at it.
08:54Wait till next week when you guys get mopped up.
08:57Who do you guys play?
08:57The Raiders?
08:58Raiders.
08:58Yeah.
08:58Raiders.
08:59You guys are dead.
09:01You guys want to bet?
09:02Let's side bet.
09:02I'll take it.
09:03Brady's waiting for you guys.
09:04Brady wants it.
09:05Are the Bills winning in Los Angeles?
09:07No.
09:07Yeah, definitely.
09:08Yes.
09:08Monday night, definitely.
09:10Yes.
09:10They got the Rams, or...
09:11What are we betting?
09:12What are we betting?
09:12Let's bet.
09:13Come on.
09:13Let's bet, guys.
09:14We'll give you Jackson.
09:16You can have Jackson as your butler for a week.
09:17Take the L, Sean.
09:19Take the L.
09:20Hey, I'm taking the L, baby.
09:22I'm fine with it.
09:23You sound like you.
09:24I'm totally fine.
09:25I have my word at all.
09:26This team's great.
09:27It's week four, fellas.
09:28It's week four, fellas.
09:29You guys will meet Drake May next week again.
09:31Don't worry.
09:31Oh, yeah.
09:32Who knows?
09:33Actually, we don't even know.
09:34All right, Sean.
09:34I'll be back next week, Sean.
09:35I just love to say, yeah, I'm totally fine.
09:36Everything's great.
09:37Team's awesome.
09:38Don't worry about it.
09:39That's week four.
09:40Coach, you're fine.
09:41By the way, I'm taking a look real quick at the power rankings.
09:46Boy, Kevin Byard pointed it out yesterday.
09:49I didn't realize that NFL.com had ranked them at number 31.
09:53They were way at the bottom.
09:55And by the way, the Dolphins were ahead of them, which is insane.
09:58But I haven't seen their new ranking because I don't think it's out yet,
10:00but everybody else.
10:02Here's what Sharp Football said.
10:05They went from a 12 to a 9.
10:08Mike Florio knocks them from a 20 to a 13.
10:11That's the biggest jump.
10:12Pretty big.
10:12Clutch points, 14 to 13.
10:14Ooh, I guess they weren't impressed.
10:16CBS Sports, 17 to a 15.
10:18I don't know how you can look at the Patriots and put them at 15 right now
10:21after that win.
10:23Fox Sports gets them from a 17 to a 15.
10:26New York Post, 18 to a 16.
10:28And the AP from a 20 to a 17.
10:31So they're still hovering around like 15 and 17 now.
10:34Go ahead.
10:34ESPN today was bringing the schedule back up.
10:37Like, they don't believe it because the Bills' defense stinks.
10:39Let's see it against a good defense.
10:41So that's going to carry with them now.
10:42And I think there's some – I don't think it's crazy to put them at 15.
10:45I don't.
10:46I just – because still, the offensive line,
10:48Drake May was pressured more than he has been his entire career.
10:52Yeah.
10:52Like, people don't realize that he was just handling it better.
10:55And it wasn't like he was running into the rush either.
10:58He was avoiding the rush.
11:00So the offensive line is still leaky, in my opinion.
11:03The depth is going to be challenged now more than ever.
11:07Can we, you know, count on, you know, playing –
11:10or being aggressive in play calling every single week?
11:13I don't know.
11:13So they're still – you know, they're back for a week.
11:16Yeah.
11:16But you've got to prove it again this weekend.
11:18But the division is so bad.
11:20Again, the Jets and the Dolphins are mud.
11:22Yeah.
11:23You are now 5-1 in the division at worst.
11:26But beating the Dolphins and the Jets doesn't get me excited.
11:29Well, it doesn't.
11:30I mean, that's four more wins.
11:31Okay, yeah.
11:31So you're 6-2, basically.
11:33Then it's – like last year, fool's gold, middle of them all again.
11:36Okay.
11:36So beat up on the weak teams, and then when you play a real team, you get beat.
