00:01A 37-year-old cobbler pleaded not guilty to four charges involving grievous hurt,
00:07injuries to a toddler, vehicle theft and public nudity at the Sessions and Magistrates Courts
00:13in Ayakaroh on Tuesday. At the Sessions Court, Muhammad Firdaus Jamal was charged with voluntarily
00:19causing grievous hurt to a 63-year-old man using a glass bottle containing brown liquid
00:26at a house in Kampung Ayermolek at about 7.30pm on September 29.
00:31Meanwhile, at the Magistrates Court, he was charged with stealing a Toyota Alphard from a house in
00:37Taman Ayermolek later that night. He also faced charges of causing hurt to a girl aged two years
00:44and eight months and committing an act of gross indecency by appearing naked in public at the
00:50same location about 20 minutes later. Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Kayyum Ramlan
00:56applied for the accused to undergo psychiatric assessment at Hospital Permai, which the court
01:01allowed. Melaka Executive Counselor Datuk Rahmat Mariman said the accused was believed to
01:07have a condition linked to practices associated with deviant teachings.
