00:00As a director, I noticed that if it wasn't intent, it was purposely done.
00:05You wanted to show a culture that needed help mixed with the corporate world who overskips
00:14that to put their own agendas in place.
00:17Was that purposefully done or did it just come with the writing?
00:21The movie had to be done in the Amazon, that's where the story took place.
00:23And the backdrop, there needed to be something in the backdrop, like some sort of strife,
00:27some sort of problem.
00:28Currently, and for years now, it's been the illegal logging and the gold mining.
00:33And it's been indigenous people out there who have fought back.
00:37So that was a huge part of how to get into the story.
00:41Then combining the myth of this creature that these people who are tearing up the land are
00:48tearing up her land.
00:49They're tearing up, they're in her domain.
00:52She don't care if you're a good person, she will fuck you up.
00:55You know what I mean?
00:56Pardon my language.
00:56Right.
00:56But she's upset.
00:59And like Lena says in the movie, when there's balance, she rests.
01:05What I noticed is there's no good or bad person in the entire film.
01:10It's literally just either circumstance or it's because everybody feels validated.
01:16Yes.
01:17With your characters, first of all, two strong leading female roles.
01:22Let's start with that.
01:24Two females that kick ass.
01:25I damn sure I haven't seen that.
01:26Oh, yeah.
01:27In a long time.
01:28What was the challenge?
01:30Was it more of the physical aspect that you had to bring to the role or the emotional that
01:37you had to give?
01:37That's a good question.
01:38That's a great question.
01:40Beautiful.
01:41That's a great question.
01:42I think for me, I would say for this one, more of the challenge was physical.
01:49Okay.
01:49I think the script was so well written and there's so much heart on the page that as
01:57an actor, for me to just bring life to the words and the characters that were so beautifully
02:01written, that wasn't very challenging.
02:04Also, we had so many conversations with Mike, so much time and so much opportunity to really
02:10flesh out our characters.
02:12And then coming to set and meeting Jessica and meeting Logan and all of us now creating
02:17together, I feel like we were able to play off of each other.
02:20So emotionally, it wasn't as much of a challenge for me personally, but the physical with the
02:25mud and everything else was more of a challenge.
02:27I think this one was also, for me in a lot of ways, a really beautiful combination where
02:32the challenge of the physicality fed the emotion and the challenge of the emotion fed the
02:36physicality, especially because we were in such an immersive environment shooting in the
02:42actual Amazon.
02:43And I talked a little earlier about how this was a rare, you know, in every role, you
02:50hope that you discover something, you hope that you stumble upon something you didn't know.
02:53And this one for me, not only was it kind of Allie trying to balance like her good intentions
02:59with the time she missteps and, and her altruistic nature and all of these things, but also that
03:05like maybe she's got a little crush on Lena, like that there's this, there's this kind of
03:10awakening that's happening within her as she's this fish out of water and experiencing all these
03:15new things and learning things about herself she never knew.
03:18And that partnered with then the extreme terror and fear of confronting this force of nature
03:25was a really fun and interesting thing to explore.
