00:00Alan Eck and his crew, who should be investigated, if not suspended.
00:05I am going to just start today's show by saying I have rarely seen a game
00:10officiated in such an egregiously unbalanced manner with as many bad calls
00:18and no calls that came at the highest leverage points in the game
00:23in probably 20 years in this league.
00:26And I'm not a blame-the-refs guy per se, although sometimes they do deserve blame.
00:32Like yesterday.
00:33But it was not just the sum total of the 10-1 disparity.
00:36It was not just the ticky-tackness of the plays that took touchdowns off the board,
00:42literally, like on the Williams touchdown, which was amazing.
00:45I saw that one.
00:47That was a penalty.
00:48That was a penalty because what I noticed earlier,
00:52you could see 8th and call in plays, and then the ball would just come.
00:57So he and that center did not have – well, you can understand it.
01:00He's a third-string quarterback.
01:01He was not supposed to play.
01:03Yeah, he doesn't have a rapport with the center.
01:07And on that play, I'm looking, I'm like, somebody got to get off the ball.
01:10Somebody got to get off the ball.
01:11And right when he goes to move, the ball snaps.
01:14Yeah.
01:15Okay, so fine.
01:16But the second thing they called, they're holding, but there's nowhere holding close to that.
01:21And then they get – the guy hooks the army on, pulls him down, and they pick the flag up.
01:27Yep.
01:28That's pathetic.
01:29There was that one.
01:30The OPI on Diggs was outrageous and completely insane.
01:36And then the non-calls, like when Calliomacus got crushed,
01:40and the week before you had Mahomes getting the Mahomesian flag where the rep had his hand on his pocket
01:47before he was even touched in the end zone, was infuriating as hell.
01:50And then when Burks gets hog-collared at the goal line a full two seconds before the ball arrives,
01:58I'm like, on what planet is that not DPI?
02:01I watch this league week in, week out like the rest of us.
02:05Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, and more.
02:08And that's called every time.
02:10And so I'm sitting there going, okay, this game feels, literally feels rigged.
02:15And yet there's a lot of good football going on by the commanders that they are in –
02:20they should be in this game.
02:21Why would the league want to rig it for the Chex Notes Colts?
02:27I don't have a clue.
02:28That didn't make any sense to me.
02:30But that's how the game felt.
02:31It felt like that.
02:33And I've talked to fans.
02:34I've talked to people in media since that game.
02:38And I'm talking about on both sides, not just with the commanders.
02:40I'm talking about the Colts as well.
02:42And they were like, yeah, that game was a little strangely called.
02:45Yeah.
02:45You know, everywhere I've been.
02:48And, like, I'm thinking, like, okay, let me not really say nothing.
02:51I want to just listen.
02:52Right.
02:52And people feel the same way, but it's that dude number 90.
02:58I told him one time, I said, bro, he asked me how I was feeling.
03:02And I said, what would be better if you didn't have them bogus-ass calls?
03:06And that dude right there calls a lot of terrible calls.
03:09He – yesterday he was involved with four of them, I think it was.
03:12This is the referee that wears 90?
03:15Yeah.
03:16Do I need to look up his name?
03:17I'll go to footballzebras.com.
03:18I don't know his name.
03:19Let's get – let's get – let's get Clarion Walker on the case here.
03:23Come on, Walker.
03:24Go to footballzebras.com.
03:26The little short brother.
03:28Dark skin.
03:29Yeah.
03:29Well, by the way, by the way, this Sunday, B. Mitch,
03:32was maybe one of the worst Sundays for NFL officiating in my lifetime
03:36through a combined number of things that happened,
03:38including the ref who was probably going to get suspended
03:41for yelling at Trey McBride of the Cardinals.
03:43Well, he didn't yell at him.
03:44He told him –
03:45He said F you.
03:46Bleep you.
03:47Yeah.
03:47Bleep you, basically.
03:49Crew chief Adrian Hill getting all snippy because he got bumped into.
03:54He got bumped into because somebody knocked the player into him.
03:57I know.
03:57And the player goes to offer to pick your silly ass up and you get mad?
04:02Yeah.
04:02Dallas Turner actually tried to help him up.
04:03He was like, sorry, man.
04:04And he's like, you – yeah, hey.
04:05Hey, you –
04:06I'm like, yo, Adrian, chill, bro.
04:09Chill.
04:09It looks like he was trying to get ready to throw him out the game when –
04:13I'm like, dude, he was pushed into you.
04:16Exactly.
04:17And the thing of it, like, man, if you don't want to be touched,
04:20stop doing your job.
04:21I've always said to people, if you don't want to be tackling in football,
04:24don't play it.
04:24If you can't get touched as a referee around all those behemoths,
04:29then you shouldn't be on the football field.
04:30Yeah.
04:30You're going to get touched every once in a while.
04:32I –
04:32And if you're around the tackle,
04:33somebody's going to try to make sure you're involved with the tackle.
04:35So let's just be real about it.
04:36I heard the junks talking about this, taking calls.
04:39I understand at 1-3, there is a lot of angst, obviously.
04:43And with the still uncertain return of Jaden Daniels
04:46and some people second-guessing, like, well, if he said everything was good,
04:49which he did leading up to this game, and they've got a brace on it,
04:52why wasn't he playing?
04:53They're probably going to have to bring in a backup veteran at this point.
04:56They got him.
04:57Because I think Mariota's probably at least a couple-week injury.
05:00Let's see what the imaging says today.
05:01Obviously, you heard from, you know, the coach right there.
05:05But here's the thing.
05:08They're still working through a lot of issues from the old regime.
05:11I know no one wants to hear that.
05:12Everyone wants to win now.
05:14I get it.
05:15I get it.
05:15They have got to flush through the old bad decisions of the regime,
05:19and they've got to keep building up the roster around it.
05:22I would say that those guys that were brought in this year,
05:25they're making an impact.
05:27Guys are making plays.
05:28The defense has made huge leaps, B-Mitch, from last year.
05:32Huge leaps.
05:33Yeah.
05:34I think – and then when we – see, I'm kind of at a point, Z,
05:37where I understand their injuries, but I understand also you can't make excuses for it.
05:43Yeah.
05:44Okay.
05:44But I also look at the fact of the plays that's been made, the way they've played,
05:49the way they've handled themselves when they had the bulk of the people there.
05:53I'm just – I'm looking for the moment to – let's get 98% of the people,
05:5795% of the people healthy throughout the whole game, and let's see what happens.
06:01Because I believe in the Eagles game, a few players here or there,
06:05they should have won that game.
06:06Dallas game was the only game I felt they just got worked.
06:09Okay.
06:10In a sense – and they were still in that one when the referee blew the damn D.
06:13I mean, Brown touchdown.
06:15You know?
06:15So, you look at – we've had three games in a row,
06:19and three touchdowns have been pulled off the board.
06:21I believe if Mariota doesn't get hurt at a foul –
06:24You don't get hurt yesterday, that game's over.
06:26Meaning the commanders would win the game.
06:28They're going to win because he was cooking, man.
06:30Came out off the bat cooking, and I just think that Mariota's –
06:36like, during the preseason, I was impressed by Cadillac Mandis
06:40because the guy has a pocket presence.
06:43But I don't think he's – because you watched yesterday,
06:45there were times he could have just taken off.
06:47Yes.
06:48He is looking to throw the ball.
06:49He's not looking to run the football.
06:51The game –
06:51But if that was –
06:52Yeah.
06:52If that was Mariota, he would have either had –
06:54he would have had 100 yards rushing yesterday.
06:55The game is fast right now for Aiden.
06:59Totally.
06:59And that's the nature of when you're young and you haven't had much experience.
07:02But he has some real athletic intangibles that are fascinating,
07:07but he should not be playing right now.
07:11He is –
07:11And the fact they went into this game with a guy who was old
07:15and it was coming off a bit of a knee thing in the preseason
07:18was a bit irresponsible, in my opinion.
07:21But the thinking is, in the NFL, why have a third quarterback?
07:25If you have to go to your third guy, you're screwed.
07:28Game's over.
07:28And we don't practice screwed, is the saying in football.
07:32So they kind of took a risk and it bit them, but they still had a chance.
07:36They had a fighting chance.
07:37Even with Kaliamakis making some mistakes, they had very much a chance.
07:41They just needed a call, for God's sakes.
07:44They had a B-Mitcher on the sideline, though, Zabe.
07:48Which is?
07:49Colston Yankoff.
07:50He was a quarterback at one point.
07:51Oh, he was the emergency guy?
07:52He's the emergency quarterback.
07:54Is Colston like, let Colston cook?
07:56Get me in there.
07:57See, a lot of people were like, well, they should have dressed Luke.
08:00No, Colston Yankoff was the emergency quarterback and has played quarterback in his day.
08:06I don't know, it's tough.
08:07You know, one and three.
08:09I got asked many a times yesterday, you need to run down on the field.
08:13I'm like, bro, this B-Mitch 1990 when I went to the Eagles game?
08:17No more.
08:18I can't do all that stuff no more.
08:19One and three, with the schedule being what it was, is exactly the number that would have been expected.
08:28They won a game that nobody thought the Seahawks.
08:31They lost this game for a variety of reasons that it just sort of flipped the outcomes.
08:36I wish you were better.
08:38The most important thing is quite simply getting five back there healthy, keeping them healthy,
08:46and then adding some more of these offensive parts to see what can really cook with him around it
08:51because the defense is now more than serviceable.
08:54Totally.
08:55And you look at it, they get pressure, and they now are playing at different levels,
08:59and I know we probably don't have the guys that we expected at the first level.
09:04I believe that O-Way and also Shaysong has been unbelievable.
09:10Dorrance gets back on the field completely.
09:13The front, I mean, Ken Law has been playing some terrific football as of late.
09:18Then you look at the linebacker core, albeit young, those guys can play.
09:23Everybody that was questioning Sonny Stiles, Sonny Stiles is a ball player.
09:26And then you look back deep, you would think it would have been Amos back there,
09:31but Amik Robertson is small in stature, not small in competitiveness.
09:36He'll go out there and ball out.
09:37He doesn't care.
09:38I also love when Payne dump trucked the running back.
09:45Taylor.
09:46Yeah, Jonathan Taylor.
09:47He came through and bam!
09:48It was like, wow, that is a dump truck hitting a Prius right there.
09:52I want to stay optimistic.
09:55I know what the callers are going to say.
09:58Look here, Johnny, come lately.
10:00Johnny, drop in out of nowhere.
10:01You're not living and dying with this team.
10:04You have low expectations.
10:05Maybe I have lower expectations than more hardcore fans,
10:10or maybe I have more accurate, realistic expectations.
10:13I think there's a lot to be at least hopeful for with the defense being better
10:18and with the hopes that Daniels comes back and is healthy.
10:22You can make a lot of ham sandwiches.
10:25You'll have a season from here on out.
10:27Some teams, like the Texans 0-4, the Chargers 0-4,
10:32with super high-paid quarterbacks.
10:34Well, not Stroud.
10:35Stroud is – well, Stroud got paid again, didn't he?
10:37He got paid, yeah.
10:38Yeah.
10:38So you've got two guys who have been loaded up with money,
10:41and they're both 0-4.
10:43And they've got real problems.
10:45Hell, let's look at the Rams.
10:47They were supposed to be the Super Bowl, the number one contender.
10:50They're not playing like that.
10:51Yeah, also, I would not want to trade places with Philly right now.
10:54Philly had one of the second halves from hell
10:57in throwing a game away against the Rams.
11:00And boy, oh boy, I can only imagine Philly Sports Radio this morning
11:04talking about it.
11:05Jalen Hurts had one of the worst statistical second halves.
11:08There's something wrong.
11:09It's not just the scheme.
11:10They thought it was the scheme last year.
11:12They blamed it on Petullo.
11:13They ran him out of town as their OC.
11:15Everything is still the same with what's going on up there.
11:18So, this is the NFL.
11:20This is what's great about it.
11:21This is why we love it.
11:22It sucks when your team loses on a Monday.
11:25But you pick through the wreckage.
11:27You try to find some positives.
11:29You critique what could be better.
11:30And maybe you just howl at the moon or yell at the clouds
11:33like these referees.
11:34Alenek sucks.
11:35He really does.
11:36To me, Scott Novak and Alenek should be demoted.
11:38They shouldn't be working at Foot Locker.
11:40Either one of those guys.
11:41I'm with you.
11:42Wasn't a good day for officiating around the league.
