A strong earthquake sequence rattled southern Türkiye, with the strongest tremor reaching magnitude 5.2 in the Saimbeyli–Sumbas area near the Adana and Osmaniye provinces. The sequence began with a magnitude 4.8 earthquake at 14:19 local time, followed by a 4.9-magnitude tremor 17 minutes later. The strongest M5.2 earthquake struck at 14:43, at a shallow depth of around 7 kilometres.Additional earthquakes followed, including M4.4 and M4.3 tremors in Saimbeyli. AFAD's preliminary assessment recorded 16 aftershocks ranging from M1.0 to M2.4, while reports said the broader region experienced 113 earthquakes within 24 hours.Authorities continued inspections across Adana and Osmaniye. No deaths or major structural damage were reported in the initial assessments. The earthquake sequence comes in a region deeply affected by the devastating February 2023 Türkiye earthquakes, making the latest tremors particularly significant for residents.Watch the video for the latest facts, earthquake magnitudes, depths, locations and aftershock activity.
