00:24Hello, everybody, and welcome back to the 79th issue

00:27of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations

00:30with me, Paul Malin, and Fly Racing's Jason Thomas.

00:33We are at Erne, and we are ready to go racing again.

00:36Race 2 is up next, MX2 riders and the Open Class riders.

00:40So if you're wondering who that is,

00:41the MX2 riders will be Mattis Vallan of France,

00:43Camden McClellan of South Africa, Levi Kitchen of the USA,

00:47Guillem-Ferez of Spain, Yanis Martins, Resilis of Latvia,

00:51Jeremy Seewer of Switzerland, Sasha Kunin of Belgium,

00:55Verucho Zanke, Glenn Koldenoff, and Alex Larwood of Australia

00:58and others, but in the Open Class,

01:00and their first race of the afternoon,

01:02the likes of Jeffrey Hurlings, Liam Evertz, Tom Villal,

01:05Andrea Adamo, Pauls Jonas, Francisco Garcia, Cooper Webb,

01:09Kevin Brumman, Ben Watson, Dylan Wright, Aaron Tanti,

01:13maybe even Yeri Havisto.

01:15But we are all set.

01:17We had an absolutely epic first race,

01:20so much to digest.

01:21We will see highlights of the race in a minute or so,

01:26but Jason Thomas,

01:29expect the unexpected, I think,

01:31is the motto with this race, isn't it?

01:32Because what was a great start for France

01:36turned out to be something completely

01:39what they were not expecting,

01:40but they're still in a good position

01:42in the greater scheme of things

01:43with the nature of how this event works.

01:46Yeah, no question,

01:46and you think we would learn by this point

01:49to know that it's going to get crazy.

01:51We are going to get chaos amongst the results,

01:54and that's exactly what we got,

01:55and you have to really like Spain's chances

01:58after race one,

01:58but how quickly that can change

02:00if things go awry in here in race two.

02:02Well, the racetrack then,

02:03so where you see the finish line on that far right,

02:06that's a downhill into a left-hander.

02:07From there, on the exit of sort of going into turn four,

02:11that right-hand turn right in front of the fans,

02:13that is sector one, sector two,

02:15the long uphill sweeper in the middle of the circuit,

02:17that is turn eight,

02:18that's where Levi Kitchen fell,

02:20we'll see that,

02:20or the back end of it maybe in a moment.

02:22Sector three at the highest point of the circuit,

02:25into the last jump before you sort of turn right and left.

02:29Just realized that's the old track map there,

02:31but anyway, take a look at the first race.

02:35It was MX2 and MXGP riders.

02:38Here's how it went down.

02:41A lot of the 250 riders were over on the inside gates,

02:44and that allowed a sweeping first turn

02:46for the likes of Isaac Gifting,

02:48who got the foxhole shot,

02:49but he was closely followed over the line

02:51by the seven of Roman Fevre,

02:53and the 28 of Jorge Prado.

02:55Prado went around the outside,

02:56found his way past Fevre,

02:57and immediately went after Gifting,

02:59and the pass came at the top of the hill.

03:01When Fevre went through,

03:01he snagged the handlebar of Gifting,

03:03Gifting went down,

03:04but Prado and Fevre were at the head of the field.

03:06Yeah, and it's really difficult

03:08to take yourself out from the inside,

03:10but Gifting managed to do it.

03:12And Voland, huge crash down the hill.

03:14On the opening lap, he was in seventh position,

03:16the top MX2 rider.

03:18He is okay.

03:19The bike needed a little bit of TLC.

03:21A little bit further into the race,

03:22Prado made this mistake.

03:24That was on lap six.

03:25Fevre went through, took over the lead,

03:26and even though Prado did try and make a way

03:31back onto the rear wheel,

03:32he just ran out of time,

03:33but the gap was too big.

03:34Levi Kitchen got Ferrato'd.

03:36We're just about to find out

03:38from a pre-grid interview in a moment

03:39from Cooper Webb,

03:40but he is okay.

03:42Ferrato then went on a tear-up.

03:43He found his way past a couple more riders,

03:45including the 41 of Camden McClellan.

03:47That put him up into sixth position

03:51by the time the chequered flag fell.

03:52Roman Fevre was already celebrating

03:54on the downhill and the uphill,

03:55and it was Fevre who went on to win race one,

03:57his fourth nation's win in his career.

04:01And he celebrated.

04:02He didn't even know that Valen had gone out

04:03at this point until we told him,

04:06or until shortly before the interview

04:08after that race there.

04:09But as it stands right now,

04:12with Fevre, Prado, Kunin, Ferez,

04:15Pansa, Ferrato, Cameron McClellan,

04:18Talviku, Van der Mosteik,

04:19and Julian Beaumare,

04:20that means that Spain,

04:22with a second and a fourth,

04:24with Prado and Ferez,

04:25they lead the way on six points.

04:26Belgium, nine points further back

04:27with the two Kunins.

04:28They were third and twelfth.

04:29Lucas was third.

04:30On 23 points,

04:31we have the Netherlands

04:32with Van der Mosteik and Koldenov.

04:34They were ninth and 14.

04:35Jed Beaton and Alex Larwood,

04:37the Australians,

04:38were 11th and 21st.

05:25But we know we have a target

05:26on our back as Americans.

05:28But it's definitely tough.

05:29We were in a great position

05:30with both the boys.

05:32But now it's nothing to lose.

05:34You know, I think that hopefully

05:35that can be our takeaway.

05:36But now it's time to perform

05:38for all of us for sure.
