00:01The day I met the daughter, I never knew I had.
00:04I slipped and fell at her feet.
00:06Then her husband came charging out.
00:09Accusing me of being her lover.
00:23Sir, are you okay?
00:25I'm alright. I actually...
00:43Right in front of me, he slapped my daughter to the ground.
00:46You fucking bitch!
00:48I knew I couldn't trust you.
00:50I turned my back for one second and you're already throwing yourself at another man!
00:54No!
00:56Terrified, Nina dropped to her knees and begged him.
00:59Reggie, I don't even know him.
01:00He fell, that's all. I was just trying to help.
01:03Oh, so he was the one coming onto you first?
01:07No, you've got it wrong, I...
01:11I tried to explain, but he spun around and grabbed me by the collar.
01:14Listen, old bastard.
01:16Give me a thousand bucks, or I'll tell everyone you raped my wife.
01:20Warren Group will make sure you regret it.
01:24Watch your mouth!
01:25Do you have any idea who you're talking to?
01:27He threatened me in the name of Warren Group, never realizing I was its chairman, Warren Haasen.
01:34You piece of trash.
01:36I don't give a shit who you are.
01:38You got a death wish?
01:40Reggie, please.
01:41He's just some poor homeless guy.
01:42Let him go.
01:45I dressed down so my status wouldn't intimidate Nina.
01:48I never expected her to mistake me for a homeless man.
01:56Bitch, stay out of this!
02:03What, you feel sorry for him?
02:06I'm your husband.
02:07You do what I say.
02:11I moved to stop him.
02:13But Reggie grabbed Nina and forced her to face me.
02:16She caught your eye too, huh?
02:19Maybe I should show you just how hot she really is.
02:22No! Stop! Stop! Please! Stop! Please! Stop! Please! Stop!
02:28Please! Please let go of me! Please!
02:34Please!
02:35He ripped open my daughter's shirt and displayed her like merchandise, tears streaming down her face.
02:44And to her, I was still just a stranger.
02:48Look at her. Hell of a piece of ass, huh?
02:51A thousand bucks and she's all yours.
02:53Nah, cheap slut like her, a hundred will do.
03:00My daughter Nina Haasen was being humiliated right in front of me.
03:05I couldn't stand it.
03:07You'll pay for every last thing you've done.
03:18Reggie kicked me down and snatched my phone.
03:21That was when it hit me.
03:22At nearly sixty, I was no match for a young brute like him.
03:26Not bad for a bum. Didn't think he had something this nice.
03:30He ran his hands over the phone greedily.
03:32It was the newest model from a Warren Group tech company.
03:36Then that same greedy look shifted to me.
03:47What'd you say about making me pay?
03:51You misheard, sir.
03:53I had no choice but to play along.
03:55Reggie was vicious and provoking him would only make things worse.
03:58You're a slut.
03:59All I could do was hope Marcus traced my phone fast.
04:02Too late.
04:02I'll leave you in the gutter like a dead mutt.
04:04Reggie had no intention of letting me go.
04:07Just as his face came down, Nina threw herself over me.
04:12Reggie, please.
04:13He's old and frail.
04:14You're gonna kill him.
04:15Nina still didn't know I was her father.
04:17To her, I was just an old stranger and she still chose to protect me.
04:32That only made Reggie angrier.
04:36He kicked her over and over.
04:38The way she curled up to shield herself was practical.
04:42This had happened before.
04:43No!
04:45I couldn't stand by anymore.
04:48Don't you dare touch her!
04:50She's my daughter!
04:55What did you say?
05:03I'm your father.
05:11I'm supposed to protect you.
05:14My father?
05:16That's impossible.
05:17I'm an orphan.
05:18No.
05:19You have a family.
05:20You have me.
05:30Oh, this is rich.
05:31The girl nobody wanted actually has a daddy.
05:35No!
05:36Reggie grabbed Nina by the hair and dragged her away.
05:39If he got her alone, I knew the abuse would only get worse.
05:42I had to stop him.
05:45Let her go!
05:46I'll pay you!
05:48How much are we talking?
05:53I bought this watch with my first real money.
05:56It's still worth three grand.
05:58I gave him everything valuable I had, trying to buy my daughter's freedom.
06:02That's everything of value I have on me.
06:03Now let my daughter go!
06:04Lucky you, Nina.
06:05Such a devoted father.
06:07So tell me, you really want to leave with him?
06:11Nina hesitated.
06:12I knew she was terrified of what Reggie would do if she tried to leave.
06:16Then I spotted a familiar face behind him.
06:19My assistant, Marcus.
06:23Marcus, deal with him.
06:25He tortured Warren Hobson's daughter.
06:27I was going to make sure he paid.
06:39Who are you?
06:54Marcus wasn't just my assistant.
06:56He was also my bodyguard.
06:58Trained in judo, taxajondo, and wai tang, with multiple fighting titles to his name.
07:02Help! Help!
07:03Reggie never stood a chance.
07:04Stop hitting me!
07:07I watched without a shred of sympathy.
07:10Then Reggie started shouting for help.
07:12Help!
07:20What the hell are you looking at?
07:21Get your asses over here!
07:25So he had backup.
07:28You have no idea who you're messing with.
07:40He's just some old geezer.
07:41A hundred bucks to whoever makes him big!
07:44Who wants it?
07:49The idiot thought he could beat me with money.
07:52I was Warren Hobson, chairman of Warren Group.
07:54Money was the one thing I never lacked.
07:56Marcus, show them what real money looks like.
08:09Keep him down, and all this is yours.
08:13Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
08:14Hey! Brace! Brace off!
08:28Brace off!
08:28Brace off!
08:31Brace off!
08:32Nina.
08:32It's okay.
08:34I've got you now.
08:37Are you...
08:38really my father?
08:40Yes.
08:42Look at us.
08:43Same eyes.
08:44Same nose.
08:47I thought I had no family left in this world.
08:50I thought the same thing.
08:53Then life gave me Nina.
08:58You're screwed!
09:02My uncle runs Warren Group's local branch!
09:05He's on his way!
09:09So Reggie really did have someone backing him, and that someone worked for me.
09:14Then I heard a line of footsteps approaching.
09:21A well-dressed man came strotting up with a dozen bodyguards.
09:30You're the one who sissed these bums on my nephew?
09:38Yeah, Uncle Rodney.
09:40I dropped your name and they beat me even harder.
09:43You know who my uncle is?
09:45Get on your knees and apologize.
09:47Maybe he'll still go easy on you.
09:49Your name?
09:50Rodney Hanway.
09:51Why?
09:54Your nephew tried to shake me down, and humiliated his wife in public.
10:00You should be setting him straight, not covering for him.
10:04At Warren Group, degrees and resumes weren't enough.
10:07Character mattered too.
10:08Every branch was supposed to live by that standard.
10:11Reggie, be honest.
10:13Did you do all that?
10:20I thought he was about to discipline his nephew.
10:23Instead, he smashed the bat into Marcus' head.
10:26Bastard.
10:27He was just as rotty as Reggie.
10:33You've crossed the line.
10:35Effective immediately, you're fired from Warren Group.
10:41And that's not all.
10:42You and your nephew will be hearing from my lawyers.
10:46You think you could just fire him?
10:48Who the hell do you think you are?
10:51I'm Warren Haasen.
10:52They might not know my face, but they knew my name.
10:56Warren Haasen?
10:58Chairman of Warren Group?
10:59Make this right now.
11:01And I may still go easy on you.
11:04I might as well say, I'm Bill Gates.
11:17You could be the president for all I care.
11:23This is Rodney Hanway's turf.
11:26He didn't believe a word I said.
11:27Then he ground my face into the pavement.
11:37Lick it clean, and I'll let you go.
11:41Rage burned through me.
11:42A lawsuit was the least of his problems now.
11:54Then Nina threw herself over me.
12:04Uncle Rodney, he's my father.
12:06You can't do this to him.
12:10Rodney blew cigar milk straight into Nina's face.
12:13Something about it made my stomach turn.
12:15Nina, without Reggie, you'd be a whore by now.
12:18Ever wonder why your own father abandoned you?
12:21Whatever happened, he's still my father.
12:24Please, let him go.
12:26Rodney's eyes dropped from Nina's face to her torn shirt.
12:29I knew exactly what that look meant.
12:33Come on, Nina.
12:34You know what I want.
12:36Make me happy.
12:38And maybe I'll let your lying daddy walk.
12:43No!
12:44Don't you dare touch her!
12:46You won't get away with this!
12:49No!
13:00Just before Nina's hand reached him, the police arrived.
13:04Marcus had managed to call them before he went down.
13:06Oh, officer.
13:07What brings you by?
13:09Nothing serious.
13:10Just a little misunderstanding.
13:12For a second, I thought the officer might be in Rodney's pocket too.
13:15Thankfully, he wasn't.
13:17Who's Mr. Haasen?
13:19That's me.
13:24Mr. Haasen, we came as soon as we got the call.
13:27Are you alright?
13:32Who laid a hand on Mr. Haasen?
13:34Officer, come on.
13:35This old geezer can't be Mr. Haasen.
13:37Don't let him fool you.
13:39Mr. Haasen?
13:40May I see your ID?
13:41I reached for my ID, then remembered.
13:43After a 28-hour private jet flight,
13:46I'd handed my documents to my lawyer to process the paternity paperwork.
13:50I had nothing on me to prove who I was.
14:02I changed before coming here.
14:04My lawyer has my ID while he handles the paternity paperwork.
14:07Rodney saw his opening and jumped in before I could explain.
14:11Officer, you heard him.
14:13Warren Haasen is worth hundreds of billions.
14:15Why would a man like that be out here dressed like a bregger?
14:17This guy's a fraud.
14:23Officer, I can't prove who I am right now.
14:25Check with Warren Group.
14:27They can confirm I arrived in the city an hour ago.
14:31I couldn't prove who I was on the spot.
14:34But Rodney couldn't prove I wasn't Warren Haasen either.
14:42Mr. Haasen did arrive an hour ago.
14:44But until we verify your identity,
14:46we need to come with us to the station.
14:49If you're lying about who you are,
14:50that's a false police report.
14:54Fine.
14:55But make sure my assistant gets to a hospital.
14:59No!
15:00No!
15:01No!
15:02No!
15:05No!
15:06No!
15:07No!
15:08No!
15:08No!
15:08No!
15:14No!
15:15No!
15:17No!
15:17No!
15:18No!
15:23No!
15:24No!
15:26No!
15:28No!
15:30No!
15:31An ambulance took Marcus to the hospital while I went with the police to verify my identity.
15:37Once again, I had to leave Nina behind.
15:42Two hours later, my lawyer arrived.
15:51I'm Mr. Hawkins' personal attorney.
15:54These are his ID, passport, and documents proving his ownership in Warren Group.
15:59Please verify them.
16:08Mr. Hawson, I'm terribly sorry for what you've been put through.
16:11I'll pull everything we have on Rodney and Reggie and give you any assistance you need.
16:18Where's my daughter?
16:20My lawyer had proven who I was.
16:23But all I cared about now was getting back to Nina.
16:27In those two hours, Rodney and Reggie dragged Nina into the red light district, mocked her father as a broke
16:33homeless man, and forced her to kneel and pour drinks.
16:38Poor Nina.
16:40Looks like your homeless daddy's too scared to show his face again.
16:48What are you waiting for?
16:50Pour him a drink.
16:51If you weren't pretty, you'd be good for fucking nothing.
17:06Get up, Nina.
17:07My daughter kneels to no one.
17:17You son of a bitch!
17:19You've got some nerve!
17:26Reggie Hanway?
17:27You're under arrest for robbery?
17:29As Nina's husband, Reggie had made it hard for the police to pursue what he'd done to her.
17:35But robbery was different.
17:37The watch on his wrist was mine, and I had the purchase record to prove it.
17:42I run Warren Group's local branch.
17:44You sure you want to go against Warren Group?
17:47Rodney thought Warren Group could still shield him.
17:50But this time, no one could.
17:54Wilson, he's one of yours.
17:56You deal with him.
18:04Mr. Wilson.
18:07Rodney, you're fired.
18:10Warren Group will hold you accountable for all of it, including assaulting Mr. Haasen.
18:19Mr. Hawken.
18:21Mr. Hawken, I'm sorry.
18:23I didn't know it was you.
18:25Please, show me mercy.
18:31Lick it clean.
18:38He licked the filth off my shoe without a shred of dignity left.
18:42But it still wasn't enough.
18:44After what he'd done to my daughter,
18:47even dying a thousand times wouldn't make it right.
18:49Mr. Haasen.
18:51Please, will you spare me now?
18:58Nina, let's go home.
19:05This time, I'd finally been able to protect my daughter.
19:10I brought Nina home, but she ran a fever all night.
19:16The doctor said she was malnourished, covered in old injuries and bruises, and had suffered years of abuse.
19:23Every word made my anger worse.
19:33Even asleep, Nina couldn't rest.
19:36Even asleep, Nina couldn't rest.
19:51From now on, you're Nina Haasen.
19:56Nina, you can tell me.
19:59What did Reggie do to you?
20:01I hated making Nina relive it, but I knew there was more going on.
20:05Reggie.
20:09Reggie and I got married for the health insurance.
20:11He was good to me when we first met.
20:14Marriage meant he could get coverage through my job, so I said yes.
20:20But after we got married, he changed.
20:23He started drinking, gambling, hitting me.
20:26I got hurt so badly, I couldn't work.
20:30Then we couldn't make rent, and Rodney showed up.
20:39What did Rodney do?
20:42Rodney had Reggie working for him.
20:44Making illegal loans in the slums.
20:46Beating people who couldn't pay.
20:49Forcing women into prostitution to cover their debts.
20:52I overheard them talking.
20:54Rodney said it was all on Warren Group's orders.
21:00Nina confirmed Rodney had been using Warren Group's name to run illegal operations.
21:05But I knew this was bigger than one man.
21:09Marcus, I want a full investigation into the local branch.
21:12Get to the bottom of this.
21:17Sir, Rodney's been running it through Reggie for three years.
21:21Loan shaking, violent collections, even human trafficking.
21:24And Wilson knew.
21:25He looked the other way.
21:26Wilson was the branch president, a man I'd personally promoted.
21:30I trusted him.
21:31I never imagined he'd betray everything I stood for.
21:35How involved was Wilson?
21:37Wilson would do anything to hit his numbers.
21:40He knew exactly what Rodney was doing, and chose not to stop it.
21:44This district falls under the branch, and Warren Group's name here is Dirt.
21:49And Reggie?
21:53Still at the station.
21:54Since he's Miss Nina's husband, the police are waiting to see how you want to proceed.
22:00If you want, our lawyers can push this as far as the law allows.
22:05I'll see him myself.
22:08Mr. Hawken!
22:09I didn't know it was you!
22:10Please, I'm Nina's husband!
22:12For her sake, go easy on me!
22:13My daughter doesn't need a husband who pimps her out.
22:16Divorce papers.
22:18Sign them.
22:25And what do I get?
22:27I wouldn't mind my daughter becoming a widow.
22:31There's no shame in that.
22:38Sir, Reggie's getting out in a few days.
22:42Are you really going to let him off?
22:44That easy?
22:48Go to Reggie's neighborhood.
22:50Tell the homeless people there.
22:53Anyone who makes sure Reggie has a hard time.
22:56Will get support from Warren Group.
22:59Plenty of people there had ended up homeless.
23:01Because of Reggie and Rodney's loan share.
23:03Understood, sir.
23:10Let him off easy?
23:12After what he did to my daughter?
23:14No.
23:15Death would be too easy.
23:25What the hell are you doing?
23:27It's me, Reggie!
23:29Don't you recognize me?
23:36He'd once made their lives a nightmare.
23:38Now they were his.
23:48Nina, what are you looking at?
23:52Dad, I'm looking at the sale listing for Uncle Lyle's Cafe.
23:56He was my first boss.
23:58He gave me work when I needed it most.
24:00Even after I couldn't work anymore.
24:02He'd still slip me bread and milk.
24:10The numbers look good.
24:11Why sell?
24:13I heard his wife is sick.
24:16He's selling the cafe to cover her medical bills.
24:19Dad, I want to help him.
24:23Of course.
24:24I'll go with you.
24:33Nina, it's been a while.
24:36You look so much better.
24:37I heard you got married.
24:39How have you been?
24:41Uncle Lyle!
24:45I want you to meet my dad.
24:48You found your dad?
24:49That's wonderful.
24:51I'm selling the cafe, unfortunately.
24:53But I can still make you both a cup.
25:03Mr. Lyle, thank you for looking after my daughter.
25:05I heard you're going through a difficult time.
25:07What happened?
25:19My wife is sick.
25:21I need the money for her treatment.
25:23So I have to sell.
25:25But Wilson's people are trying to force me into a lowball deal.
25:28And they scare off every buyer who comes by.
25:31Now no one will touch the place.
25:35Wilson.
25:37Wilson from Warren Group?
25:40Who else?
25:42Warren Group has a terrible name around here.
25:44They bully local businesses, run loan sharking schemes.
25:48They have money and power.
25:50People like us can't do a damn thing.
25:56Mr. Lyle, I'm deeply sorry.
25:58I put the wrong people in charge, and you and this whole community paid the price.
26:02Nina.
26:03Who exactly is your father?
26:05Warren Hassen.
26:07Founder of Warren Group.
26:11You founded Warren Group?
26:15So that's why you're here.
26:18You want my cafe, too.
26:24I'm here to make this right.
26:27Tell my lawyer everything you know about Wilson, Rodney, and every illegal thing they've done.
26:35I'll make sure they answer for it.
26:40I'll buy the cafe for twice its market value.
26:44When your wife gets better, you two can keep running it together.
27:01Her name is May.
27:03She used to be a nurse.
27:05Her husband couldn't repay Rodney's loan, so he jumped to his death.
27:09She was forced into prostitution.
27:14When she got sick, they dumped her here.
27:22That boy's only 16.
27:25Wilson's men broke his father's legs, so he dropped out of school and started collecting scrap for money.
27:31But whenever he found anything valuable, Reggie's men took it.
27:38Write down everything.
27:40Every name.
27:41Every story.
27:42I want every cent Wilson and Rodney took from these people paid back.
27:45Understood, sir.
27:47I knew Nina hadn't brought me here just to show me what these people had suffered.
27:53Nina, tell me.
27:54What would you like to do?
27:57Dad, I want to actually help them.
27:59Will you support me?
28:01Of course, Nina.
28:03Whatever you decide, I'm with you.
28:05After everything Nina had endured, she hadn't turned bitter.
28:08She wanted to help people instead.
28:10She was even stronger than I'd imagine.
28:22Sir, we have the evidence.
28:24Rodney's operation involved illegal lending, violent collections, organ trafficking, and more than 30 million dollars.
28:30Wilson used his position at Warren Group to cover it up.
28:37Notify legal.
28:38We're filing against Wilson and Rodney.
28:40And set up a press conference.
28:43Sir, a press conference could hurt the stock price.
28:46The stock price can take a hit.
28:48Our integrity can't.
28:49I want everyone to see us cut out the rot.
29:00Dad, you're holding a press conference?
29:03I'm going to expose everything Wilson and Rodney have done.
29:06This could make you a target, too.
29:08A lot of people out there are angry and desperate.
29:10They could come after you.
29:11When something is wrong, you fix it.
29:14If I see the rot and ignore it, it only spreads.
29:18Is there anything I can do to help?
29:23You don't have to do anything for me.
29:25Just stand there and tell them you're Warren Hawkson's daughter.
29:30And that day, I had one more major announcement to make.
29:37Today, as founder of Warren Group, I owe this community an apology.
29:43I put the wrong people in power.
29:46Under Wilson's leadership, our local branch committed unforgivable crimes against the people here.
29:52Wilson and Rodney have been charged.
29:55Warren Group will fully compensate every victim.
29:58And I'll take responsibility for my failure to oversee this branch.
30:03Effective today, I'm stepping down as chairman.
30:07My daughter, Nina Hawson, will take over.
30:21I'm Nina Hawson.
30:2226 years ago, I was abandoned outside an orphanage.
30:26I grew up in the slums.
30:27I was abused, humiliated, and used.
30:30Warren Group made mistakes.
30:32And I'm going to fix them.
30:34The slums aren't this city's scar.
30:36They're the part everyone chose to forget.
30:38It's time we brought that forgotten corner back into the light.
30:50I knew my daughter would do better than I ever had.
30:53With Warren Group in her hands, I knew it would stay on the right path.
31:05Wilson, you're fired.
31:07Effective immediately.
31:08We're turning everything over to the prosecutors.
31:11Mr. Hawson.
31:12I gave you 15 years of my life.
31:15I knew what Rodney was doing, but I never took part in it myself.
31:18You can't...
31:18You knew and said nothing.
31:19You let your men prey on innocent people under Warren Group's name.
31:2315 years of service don't erase three years of wrongdoing.
31:27Take them away.
31:32Fuck.
31:48How's it going?
31:49Settling in?
31:51Harder than I thought.
31:52The books, the contracts, the office politics.
31:55I barely understood any of it before.
31:57No rush.
31:58I'll teach you one step at a time.
32:00You're young.
32:01You have plenty of time to learn.
32:06Dad, I want to go back and see the people we've helped.
32:08I made them a promise.
32:10I can't just talk about change.
32:12I have to follow through.
32:16I believe in you, Nina.
32:18You can do this.
32:22Nina threw herself into rebuilding the neighborhood.
32:26She was no longer the woman who had once knelt trembling before Reggie.
32:31Little by little, she was turning this forgotten place into the light she'd promised.
32:38Mr. Hossam, Nina really takes after you.
32:41Stubborn, dedicated, and she always keeps her word.
32:46She's stronger than I am.
32:49She's seen the dark and still chooses to be someone else's light.
32:56Hearing someone praise Nina meant more to me than any praise I'd ever received myself.
33:02Nina didn't just give orders.
33:04She showed up and did the work herself, including volunteering at the orphanage.
33:15I thought I had all the time in the world to watch Nina grow.
33:21But I'd forgotten one important thing.
33:40Dad!
33:43Someone call an ambulance!
33:52Mr. Hossam, your kidney function is declining faster than we expected.
33:57If we can't find a compatible donor soon, you may have less than six months.
34:02I understand.
34:04Keep this between us.
34:07Mr. Hossam, Nina is a genetic match.
34:11She's your daughter.
34:12Why won't you tell her?
34:13I don't think she'd say no.
34:17Absolutely not.
34:19I didn't find my daughter so I could take her kidney.
34:21I'm her father, not a vampire.
34:26That was how I'd found Nina in the first place.
34:29Her DNA matched mine in the database.
34:32I never expected the search for a donor to lead me to my daughter.
34:41After I'm gone, Nina inherits 60% of Warren Group.
34:45The other 40% will fund a foundation for neighborhood redevelopment and orphan care.
34:52Sir, you're going to be okay.
34:54I'll find another donor.
34:54Marcus, I raised you.
34:57I know how loyal you are.
34:59When I'm gone, take care of Nina for me.
35:20Mr. Hothan, Nina, these are on me.
35:23Thank you for saving my wife and me.
35:26Mr. Lyle, I should be thanking you.
35:28You gave Nina her first job when she needed it most.
35:31You helped her keep going.
35:36Mr. Hothan, you don't look well.
35:38Are you feeling all right?
35:39Just an old problem.
35:40It's nothing.
35:51Dad, why didn't you tell me?
35:53I'm healthy.
35:55I can get tested.
35:56If I'm a match, I want to help.
35:59I want you to live.
36:02Nina, I'm an old man.
36:05You don't have to do this for me.
36:08Besides, if you were a match, don't you think I'd already know?
36:11I lied and told Nina we weren't compatible.
36:14I wouldn't risk her health to save mine.
36:16What I didn't expect was for Lyle to find out.
36:26Mr. Hothan, thank you for saving my wife's life.
36:30Don't mention it.
36:32I've spent my whole life alone.
36:35I hope you and your wife get to grow old together.
36:42Mr. Hothan, good things happen to good people.
36:46Maybe tomorrow you'll get some good news.
36:56Mr. Hothan, we found a donor whose kidney is an excellent match.
37:00We can schedule the transplant for next week.
37:04Can I ask who the donor is?
37:06I'd like to thank them in person.
37:08I'm sorry.
37:09The donor asked to remain anonymous.
37:12Once a donor was found, everything moved fast.
37:16Soon I was wheeled into surgery.
37:18When I came out, I saw someone I knew.
37:35Doctor, how's my dad?
37:37The surgery went very well.
37:39There are no signs of rejection.
37:41With some time to recover, Mr. Hothan should make a full recovery.
37:49Thank God.
37:50Dad, you're okay.
38:04I'd saved Lyle's wife.
38:06In return, Lyle had chosen to donate one of his kidneys to me.
38:13I recovered quickly.
38:15What made me even happier was realizing something was growing between Marcus and Nina.
38:26Nina, look.
38:27This rose is beautiful.
38:29Marcus, you...
38:30Nina, there's something I want to tell you.
38:31In private.
38:33Sounds like a good time for me to go check on Lyle's Cafe.
38:37Take your time.
38:39An old man like me knew when to make myself to scarce.
38:42I caught Nina and Marcus holding hands under the table.
38:46I pretended I hadn't seen a thing.
38:49Nina, how's the redevelopment going?
38:54The first phase of housing is finished and the first families have already moved in.
38:58Uncle Lyle helped coordinate everything, so it's all going smoothly.
39:02I nodded, satisfied.
39:04Then I glanced at Marcus, smart man.
39:06He said nothing about the one person who wasn't included in our housing program, Reggie.
39:16Isn't this housing for homeless people?
39:18I'm homeless too.
39:19Why can't I go in?
39:28A year later, Nina and Marcus got married.
39:32I walked her down the aisle and placed her hand in the hand of the man I'd raised myself.
39:49Marcus, I'm trusting you with my daughter.
39:52If you ever hurt her, you'll answer to me.
39:58Sir, I swear.
40:00I'll protect her for the rest of my life.
40:15I'll protect her for the rest of my life.
40:20Mr. Haasen, what you did for Nina was incredible.
40:24You pulled her out of hell and gave her a wedding that looked like heaven.
40:28I didn't give her heaven.
40:30She climbed out of hell herself.
40:32I just reached down and gave her a hand.
40:34She's already doing something.
40:36She's already doing something.
40:40Mr. Haasen, Rodney Hanwell got drunk, fell into the river, and drowned.
40:49Rodney Hanwell lost everything after Warren Group investigated him.
40:53He drank himself into ruin.
40:56In the end, he got what was coming to him.
41:03Two years later, Marcus and Nina gave me a beautiful little granddaughter.
41:10Come on, sweetheart.
41:12Say, Grandpa.
41:20Dad, she can't even talk yet.
41:23You're already trying to make Grandpa her first word?
41:27That's the plan.
41:28Maybe she'll learn Grandpa before she learns Mom or Dad.
41:35Dad, thank you.
41:38I used to think no one in this world would ever want me.
41:41Then you came into my life and gave me a whole new world.
41:46Because of you,
41:48I found happiness again.
41:58What Nina didn't know was that
42:01I was the one who should have been thanking her.
42:05She was the surprise I never saw coming.
42:08The gift God gave me.
42:12The gift God gave me.
42:23Mom, come to leave.
42:29Have a wonderful day.
42:43As for Reggie
42:44He fell asleep for the last time
42:46That snowy Christmas
42:46I would never tell Nina
42:48That bastard didn't deserve another second
42:51In Nina Hotman's life
