00:55I'll see you next time.
01:00The first step to become fully grown.
01:03With patience and practice, Susie learned how to hop.
01:08And once she began, well, she just couldn't stop.
01:13She hopped and she hopped.
01:15There was no standing still.
01:17There was no going back.
01:18Every bounce was a thrill.
01:21Hops tickled her tummy.
01:22It was almost like flying.
01:24She loved going up and came down without trying.
01:30But to hop in the house is far from appealing.
01:33It flattens the chairs and leaves dents in the ceiling.
01:37Sit still, her mom told her.
01:39And poor Susie tried.
01:42But she just couldn't make all those hops stay inside.
01:47If she didn't stop soon, she would make herself ill.
01:51Susie hopped in her sleep.
01:53The girl never stayed still.
01:56Dad said, she's hop crazy.
01:59What on earth shall we do?
02:01Her parents were worried.
02:03Her teachers were too.
02:05This girl hops too much, read Susie's reports.
02:09But they also said Susie was brilliant at sports.
02:13She excelled at the high jump.
02:15And she loved basketball, where her hopping made up for not being so tall.
02:22Sports teacher Smith said, she's one of the best.
02:26But she gets overtired.
02:27She simply won't rest.
02:32Then along came the day of a basketball game.
02:36But Susie hopped on a splinter and cried out in pain.
02:41Smith rushed to her side when he heard Susie shout.
02:44He said, just hold still and I'll soon take it out.
02:48Hold still, exclaimed Susie.
02:50But I just don't know how.
02:53The time to start learning, Smith told her, is now.
02:57Trying hard not to wriggle, Susie held up her toe.
03:01She wanted to move, but she told herself, no.
03:05While Sue shut her eyes, concentrating intently,
03:09Smith found the splinter and pulled it out.
03:12Gently.
03:14Well done, shouted Smith.
03:17I am very impressed.
03:18For the sake of a splinter, you've just had a rest.
03:22Now, may I suggest that you make it your aim
03:25to save up your hops for the basketball game?
03:34For a moment, Smith wondered if Sue was okay.
03:39Then he called out her name.
03:41And she hopped up to play.
03:44But she didn't just hop.
03:46Oh no, not at all.
03:48She looked for her teammates and passed them the ball.
03:51She'd pretend to move left, then hop to the right.
03:54Then she'd shoot when the net was in range and in sight.
03:57The other team marveled at Susie's ability.
04:00She hopped circles around them with grace and agility.
04:06Sue scored 14 points before the last bell.
04:10Her team had won!
04:12Didn't she do well?
04:17That day, Sue learned something she never knew.
04:20A thing most important to a young kangaroo.
04:25To hop is a good thing.
04:26But make no mistake.
04:28You have to hop wisely.
04:31Not hop for hop's sake.
04:32We'll see you in the next week.
04:35You're welcome.
