00:02The last time these teams met, and there's firepower available off the bench tonight
00:06in the form of Timo Werner and Preston Judd, each making their way back from injury.
00:11And recently acquired Armindo Sieb are the players who lead the line.
00:17As the Quakes look to sweep the season series from LAFC,
00:21they're trying to sweep the season series from LAFC.
00:24They can do so for the first time in five years, and we're underway in Santa Clara.
00:30Good to have you with us, Danny Higginbotham, Michele Giannone, pitch side.
00:34My name is Steve Cangellosi.
00:36For Denny Belonga to take, but he's closed down rather effectively by the defender, Mooney.
00:42Now Son, every touch greeted with cheers by a strong faction of the fans here.
00:49That ball is repelled by the goalkeeper, Angus Gunn.
00:52It deflects out. It's a corner.
00:55Secures the other option here.
00:57They'll go with their number 10 to strike this ball in.
00:59Softly headed and taken by Larisse.
01:03Reid Roberts going up for that.
01:07In transition.
01:08He's in an offside position and missed anyway, but that's what LAFC are looking for.
01:12Chiburko leads the charge.
01:13Buwanga gave it away on the far side, and Kikonovic to play it away.
01:25Just see with LAFC, they're prepared to be a little bit more methodical in possession, whereas when San Jose win
01:30the ball back, straight away they won that first pass forward at times.
01:33You can't do that.
01:34I'm sure it's something that will just be frustrating Bruce Arena a little bit there.
01:38They're spending a little bit more time now without the ball, so when you win it back, you want to
01:42take care of it.
01:42Now there's space for San.
01:45San Young-min backs up the Quakes defense.
01:47His drive took a deflection, and it's in!
01:51San with the opening goal, as he had on the corresponding fixture at Levi's Stadium a year ago, and LAFC
01:59with the 1-0 advantage.
02:01The movement from Son, because initially he's dropped off the back three now, but the reason he's dropped off the
02:06back three is because Buwanga and Seed are in advance of it.
02:09That leaves him the space to get into, and it's a wonderful finish, but it's all about the wingers.
02:13Look at them, both of them on the outside.
02:15That means the back three have to drop.
02:16Son can then drop, work his magic, get the ball, take a few touches, and it's a lovely curler right
02:23outside of the reach of Gunn.
02:26And that's a wonderful angle to see it as well.
02:28Well over 60% now, taken here by Vieira.
02:31See what the Quakes have for an answer.
02:33Here's Buda, LaRue, trying to play that ball through.
02:38Foul is called, and it's a straight red out of the pocket of Drew Fisher.
02:44You just see, it's a lovely bit of football, and yeah, you can see exactly.
02:50Preston Judd has come into the game for the Quakes.
02:56In the starting role tonight, LAFC's number five.
03:01Here's Romney.
03:13Costa for LaRue, arguing for a foul call.
03:17Drew Fisher, our referee tonight, uninterested.
03:27Played ahead.
03:28This has hope for LAFC.
03:30Son finding another gear, continues on, has Bawanga with him.
03:34Denny Bawanga!
03:36Make it two!
03:38LAFC's dynamic duo!
03:41And some LAFC history is made tonight by Denny Bawanga!
03:48Goal number 79!
03:50Traditional LAFC goal this was, and you talk about desperation, you talk about losing the ball.
03:55Well all of a sudden San Jose, they found themselves running back towards their own goal.
03:59Romney has to go over, and Son waits for the perfect moment to put it on a plate for Bawanga,
04:06to make history for LAFC.
04:08But it's brilliant from Son, it's the timing of the pass, and then Bawanga, he does the rest.
04:13But San Jose, they've been warned, even with LAFC, down to ten men.
04:18Yes, you want to attack, yes, you want to get yourself back into the game.
04:21But A, don't make mistakes, and B, do not leave yourselves open at the back, because that will be the
04:27end result.
04:32They play it across, Kikonovic got two, and a save made by Lloris.
04:36He is, I thought he was magnificent against LAFC.
04:40Last weekend, scored a great goal, and he's got two this week as well.
04:44D.C. United has come back to get level against Charlotte.
04:49Columbus takes the lead against Montreal.
04:51Here, Kik's trying to get on the board, big save made, Ugo Lloris with his finest moment of the night.
04:59That is a phenomenal save, because when you see the replay, when we get an opportunity, he's going one way.
05:07Another from long range, Lloris perfectly positioned.
05:11Oh, another look, please.
05:14Romney wins the aerial battle.
05:16Werner wants Chikaris.
05:19Taken instead, Chuanier.
05:24And now Delgado.
05:27Here's Mark Delgado.
05:31Tumbles to the ground as it's taken away from him.
05:33Timo Werner with body language that says, let's get going.
05:37Six across the field, an attack for San Jose.
05:40Here's Werner.
05:42Cervasco!
05:42And there it is, the service by Timo Werner helps his team get on the board.
05:49And this is the way for San Jose.
05:52And they put a number of crosses in.
05:54And this is a good ball in from Timo Werner.
05:56But what a header from Judd.
05:59He just needs to get the direction.
06:01The power is in the ball, because Timo Werner puts a lot of pace on it.
06:05He just gets on the wrong side.
06:07And Porteous probably the first thing that Porteous has done wrong all game.
06:12But a player like Judd, what a header.
06:14And Lloris, as good as he is, can do nothing about it.
06:16It's an outstanding header.
06:18And as we were saying, LAFC, if they go, then let's go.
06:21It'll be game over.
06:22Navigates multiple defenders.
06:24Continues on.
06:25Navigates the referee as well.
06:27And picks up his man on the far side.
06:30Chuanier, continuing on.
06:32Lays this off.
06:33Here's San.
06:34San, looking for a second of the night, and it's in!
06:39It found the back of the net!
06:42And just like that, the all-important insurance goal.
06:47As a scrum breaks out.
06:50The one thing that San Jose aren't happy about, they believe that this was a foul on Costa.
06:55As they then go through.
06:57And it takes a wicked deflection off Robinson.
06:59Goes over the head.
07:01Let's see what Drew Fisher has to say.
07:05After a view, LA number 14 commits a reckless foul prior to the goal.
07:09Final decision is no goal.
07:13No goal.
07:14Game on again.
07:15And Palencia goes into the book.
07:18Roberts.
07:19Taken here by Werner.
07:21Sends this ball in.
07:22Another hitter in.
07:24Perfectly positioned is Lloris to make the save.
07:29Gives to Werner.
07:34Timo Werner plays this ahead.
07:36And a shot kicked out by Lloris.
07:39The rebound comes.
07:41Costa with his service.
07:43For LAFC.
07:44They're surviving at the moment, but how much more pressure can they withstand?
07:48Here's Werner.
07:50Cuts centrally.
07:51Gives it a go!
07:51Took a deflection.
07:52It grazed the outside of the post.
07:54As Lloris got over.
07:57Works it ahead.
07:58Jack Harris.
08:01Curls this ball in.
08:03Had a big save by Lloris once again.
08:05The World Cup champion.
08:07Another incredible save.
08:09You just see Judd.
08:09He's so good at just finding that yard in the box.
08:14It's not actually.
08:16Judd.
08:17Not time.
08:19Skayan.
08:20What a save from Lloris.
08:22Point black.
08:26Loven again.
08:28Werner with a shot.
08:29Just missed.
08:30Settler Reese diving to his left.
08:33Goal kick.
08:35See.
08:35A bum a seed to get on this.
08:38Closed down by Roberts.
08:40Who won it back.
08:43LAFC to pump this ball ahead.
08:45Schaffelberg has pace.
08:47Gets on this.
08:48Marie backtracking. Will he take it to the corner? Can he take it to the corner?
08:52No, it's one back. Marie did well.
08:56Chakiris.
09:09Ever so patient. What might be their last chance.
09:12Plays it across. LaRue.
09:16Romney. Out wide.
09:18Scayan. Plays centrally.
09:20Bolarou. Plays this.
09:22Roberts will give it a go! Go!
09:28The 22-year-old Reed Roberts levels the match at the depth.
09:37Third goal of the season.
09:39San Jose had been knocking on the door, but the last thing you expected
09:41was a centre-back to step up
09:44from there on 30 yards
09:46and find the back of the net against Lloris,
09:48who has been nothing short of phenomenal.
09:51But you can see LAFC, they backed off, they backed off,
09:53they couldn't get out in time.
09:54And Roberts thought, why not?
09:57And if you don't buy a ticket, you can't win the lottery.
10:01Well, Roberts bought a ticket, and he just won the lottery,
10:03and brings San Jose back level on terms.
10:08Blue smoke abounds here at Levi's Stadium.
10:11No final whistle.
10:13Safari out of the back.
10:15Now, there's one thing for sure.
10:16LAFC's bench was absolutely furious,
10:18because they believed there was a foul on Schaffelberg in the corner.
10:22The final whistle now has blown.
10:26An electrifying California duel ends in a 2-2 draw.
