President Donald Trump addressed questions about a possible third impeachment during an October 2, 2026 exchange with reporters as he departed the White House. Asked about the prospect of Democrats seeking to impeach him again if they gain control of Congress after the 2026 midterm elections, Trump responded that he was “getting good at it” and again characterized his previous impeachments as “fake.”

Trump was impeached twice by the House of Representatives during his first presidency and was acquitted by the Senate in both trials. In the exchange, he also argued that his administration could have pursued political opponents but chose not to, while criticizing Democrats over the previous impeachment efforts.

The discussion then turned to the November 3, 2026 midterm elections. Asked whether Republicans faced a tougher challenge holding the House or Senate, Trump said he viewed the contests as roughly equal and argued that his campaign appearances help Republican candidates.

The clip captures Trump’s response to questions about congressional control, impeachment and the stakes of the 2026 midterms. Under the U.S. Constitution, the House can approve articles of impeachment by a simple majority. The Senate then holds a trial, and conviction requires a two-thirds vote of senators present.

00:00I'm going to give a little speech, and I hope they like it.
00:03President Trump, you're saying now that if Democrats
00:06win control of Congress, they will impeach you.
00:10But you've already been impeached twice.
00:12So what's the third time?
00:13Well, I don't know, but I'm getting good at it.
00:17And it's a fake impeachment.
00:20And we could have done that with Sleepy Joe,
00:22but we didn't do it because it would have been appropriate.
00:24I could have done that with Hillary Clinton, as you know.
00:27I have the chance to do it if I wanted.
00:30And I said that would be inappropriate.
00:32But with me, they like to do it, so.
00:35And as you travel all around now, 32 stops before the midterm,
00:40do you think it's going to be harder for Republicans to keep the House
00:43or to keep the Senate?
00:45I think it's pretty evil.
00:46I think that we're making a lot of progress.
00:49When I go there, we win.
00:51If I don't go there, we would not do as well.
00:55You know, as you know, when I run, we get 44 percent more votes.
01:01So I'm asking them to go out and vote.
01:03I'm not running, but I'm saying, pretend I'm running.
01:06We want to pretend I'm running.
01:08I hope you like what you're seeing here.
01:10That's getting all sorts of rewards.
01:12And the best of all, you see the new crane, the red boom?
01:19That's one of the biggest cranes in the world.
01:21That lifts up the steel on the roof.
01:24Pretty cool, right?
01:25Yeah, yeah.
01:25Mr. President.
01:29He's always got the same question about the same country.
01:32Go ahead.
01:33Mr. President.
01:34Always the same question about the same country.
01:37But he's a nice guy.
01:38Thank you, Mr. President.
01:39Mr. President.
