00:00Donald Trump Issues Impeachment Warning Ahead of Midterms
00:04President Donald Trump
00:05warned he could face impeachment if Republicans fail to retain control of Congress in the
00:102026 midterm elections.
00:13Speaking at the House GOP policy
00:15on a retreat at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Trump told Republican lawmakers
00:20you got to win the midterms because if we don't win the midterms, it's just going to be,
00:24I mean, they'll
00:25find a reason to impeach me.
00:26I'll get impeached.
00:28Trump referenced his two previous impe-
00:30saying,
00:31they impeached me for nothing twice.
00:33He was first impeached
00:35in December 2019 on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress related to
00:40.
00:40Ukraine.
00:41And again in January 2021 for incitement of insurrection following the
00:45.
00:45January 6th Capitol attack.
00:47Trump delivered the warning during a private meeting with House
00:50Republicans, stressing that control of Congress is critical to blocking any Democratic-led
00:55impeachment effort.
00:56Around the same time, data from Polymarket showed the odds of
01:00Trump being impeached by the end of 2026 briefly rose from 5% to 50%
01:05following the document release before settling at 12%.
01:10during the GOP retreat, President Trump told Republican lawmakers that if Democrats
01:15win control of Congress, they would likely move to impeach him.
01:19House Speaker Mike
01:20Johnson echoed this concern in an interview with Fox News in October 2025.
01:25noting,
01:26imagine if the Democrats took over the House, they'd impeach him.
01:29Even without
01:30removal, impeachment can paralyze lawmaking, dominate debate, and weaken a president.
01:35Republicans see it as a rallying tool while Democrats are considering their options.
01:40Already impeached twice, Trump facing a third would be unprecedented and could reshape his
01:45second term and U.S. politics.
