In an interview with India Today, Cockroach Janta Party spokesperson Saurav Das discussed the culmination of their protest at Mumbai's Shivaji Park and outlined future agitation plans. Das maintained that the gathering demonstrated strong public backing, saying, "Shivaji Park was full. It was overflowing with people." He stated that citizens are demanding answers over their voting rights and declared that the party intends to take demonstrations across multiple states, including Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, before returning to Delhi. Addressing government restrictions and the barricading of traditional demonstration sites, Das remarked that dissent is an idea rather than a physical space, asserting that any place where citizens demand accountability becomes Jantar Mantar. Furthermore, Das commended the Mumbai Police for their cooperation during the Shivaji Park gathering while sharply criticizing the Delhi Police for detaining demonstrators.

00:00All right, let's cut across to Mr. Saurav Das, Chief Spokesperson, Cockroach Janata Party.
00:05Well, it seems, Saurav, that your protest at Shivaji Park has now ended.
00:11You were allowed to hold the protest.
00:13Would you reckon the crowds that showed up today were adequate to suggest
00:17that the cause has struck a chord with the people of this country,
00:22or do you think you lacked support?
00:24Because the jury is out on the number of crowds that came in.
00:29Juru will always be out, Preeti, when it comes to protests.
00:34So, I think the people of Mumbai showed us what the Mumbai spirit is.
00:41Thousands and thousands of people flogged to Shivaji Park today.
00:45You saw the videos, you saw the pictures that we have put out.
00:49Shivaji Park was full. It was overflowing with people.
00:52People did not want to leave. They wanted more.
00:55And that is the kind of energy, that is the kind of wave that we'll be riding on.
00:59And that wave will lead straight to Delhi and on to Gyanesh Kumar's head very soon.
01:05Because people are demanding answers.
01:08People know that their future has been stolen from them.
01:12And the right to vote, which allows them to cast a vote and change their destinies forever,
01:18that has been stolen from them, Preeti.
01:20And they are seeking answers.
01:22Well, what is the CJP seeking now?
01:25You've held a protest in Mumbai.
01:27This, you said, is going to be different than what Jantar Mantar looked like,
01:31which was a continuous protest.
01:34From Mumbai, where does the CJP take this protest?
01:39Preeti will be taking the protests nationwide.
01:41We have already announced our plans.
01:43We'll be going to different cities like Bangalore.
01:45We'll be going to UP.
01:46We'll be going to Bengal.
01:48And ultimately, we will come to Delhi again with all the people and all the energy and support.
01:54And we'll be holding protests there until Gyanesh Kumar is held accountable.
01:59And all our other demands, which are very, very important to undo all the damage that Gyanesh has done on
02:08the directions of the government
02:10and to ensure that no more Gyanesh Kumar come into the system, those demands will have to be met as
02:15well.
02:16So, until that happens, we will continue our protests.
02:19So, where's the next location?
02:21And when is the protest?
02:23We will be putting out exact dates in maybe next couple of days.
02:28But we'll be going to Goa, we'll be going to Bangalore and we'll be going to other states as well.
02:35The question everyone wants to ask, Saurav, is how are you going to keep the pressure on?
02:41Because Jantar Mantar, you had someone like Sonam Wangchuk who was on a fast.
02:45First, the government or the police picking him up led to a trigger, which led to a flood of emotion
02:53and people joining you.
02:55How are you going to keep the momentum going when you're going to hop from one city to the other?
03:00Because your ultimate aim is a resignation.
03:02How are you going to sustain momentum?
03:06Preeti, I think when we started off, it was our very first protest.
03:11Some people might have had some doubts or some skepticism about us.
03:15But we proved our mettle.
03:17We proved that the young generation of this country is true to its words and will show resilience in the
03:24face of great adversity.
03:26And therefore, today, when we start off this protest in Mumbai, you saw thousands and thousands of people flock to
03:35Shivaji Park.
03:36And we expect the same number and more in the upcoming protests.
03:41So, when we reach Delhi and when we give that call for Jantar Mantar, Preeti, we are very confident that
03:48thousands and thousands and maybe lakhs of people are going to show up and demand answers from Gyanesh Kumar.
03:55So, ultimately, your protests across the country will lead to a continuous protest in Delhi, Jantar Mantar.
04:01That's the game plan?
04:02Absolutely.
04:03See, Preeti, I've said this before also.
04:05I'm telling this again.
04:06That Jantar Mantar is an idea.
04:09It's a symbol of dissent.
04:11But you need not, you know, the Delhi police has logged Jantar Mantar as though there is some great treasure
04:17inside that people are in search for.
04:19Today, Jantar Mantar represents hope.
04:22It represents courage.
04:23It represents broken dreams of people.
04:25It represents victory.
04:27And therefore, Delhi police has closed Jantar Mantar from the outside.
04:31But like I've said before, whenever people gather and wherever people are stopped, if they stop them there and they
04:38sit down there, that will be called Jantar Mantar.
04:41So, we need not need Jantar Mantar as a physical location.
04:44Every place where a person demands accountability will be called Jantar Mantar.
04:49No, just one very quick question.
04:51Do you give credit to the Mumbai police today?
04:55No, we absolutely do give credit to the Mumbai police.
04:58The Mumbai police should teach a thing or two to the Delhi police because today our friends, the younger generation
05:04that was demanding answers in Delhi, were brutally detained by the Delhi police all over again.
05:10So, the Delhi police should not be more loyal to the king, but loyal to the constitution, to the rule
05:15of law and to the people of this country who they serve.
05:18So, they must learn from the Mumbai police.
05:20And we really thank the Mumbai police for cooperating in the manner they did today.
05:26All right, Mr. Das, thank you for joining us this evening.
05:29And let's see where you go next and the kind of momentum, whether you can withhold it and carry on.
05:34Appreciate the time.
