00:00Welcome along to a latest update from the Met Office. Thanks for joining me. If you are watching

00:09evening. We've got a set of weather fronts and tightly packed ice bars. Wet and windy conditions
00:14across the north. Further south, high pressure was in control, but it is just being pushed away.
00:20Still largely fine and dry. Of course, he's dangling in the southeast, where of course we could really
00:25do with some rain. Might turn a little misty in places. The heavy rain across Scotland slipping
00:29south, so we'll see a wet spell for northern England and Wales, ending up really over parts
00:34of the Midlands and southwest England by dawn. Behind that, it's a cold front, so behind it
00:39the air is colder, so under the clear skies it will turn a bit chilly. Again, could turn
00:43a little bit misty with one or two fog patches. Enough of a breeze to stop temperatures dropping
00:47too far across Scotland, but ahead of this cold front, still very warm for the time of
00:54year. Temperatures holding up in towns and cities in the teens. Further north, we could
00:57easily drop into the low single figures in rural parts, maybe down to three or four degrees
01:03in some shelter glens across Scotland. So quite a contrast still, temperature-wise on Saturday,
01:08and a different feel for most. A brighter day for Scotland and Northern Ireland. A greyer day,
01:14certainly a fairly dull morning for the East Midlands, Lincolnshire, and that thicker cloud
01:18just edging its way down. Of course, he's dangling in the southeast, but what we could do with
01:21the rain? See, the rain is really kind of fizzling out. Just a few lightish showers through the
01:25morning. There is the chance of one or two heavier showers breaking out in southwestern parts of
01:31England, particularly through the afternoon, but they'll be very hit and miss, and many places will
01:35stay dry. Main exception to that will be Western Scotland, where we'll see a few showers along the
01:40coast and over the Western Isles and over the Highlands, but I suspect even here, many places won't
01:45see a shower and stay dry and bright. A much brighter day for Northern England and Wales. Plenty
01:49of afternoon sunshine. Same goes for Northern Ireland. Also, the wind's a lot lighter on Saturday
01:56afternoon. A pretty pleasant autumn afternoon, but temperatures may be a squeak above average for
02:01most. 15, 16 degrees across the north, further south, though. Again, really quite mild. 21, 22,
02:07possibly even 23 Celsius if we see any breaks in the cloud across the southeast for the afternoon.
02:12Still a few of those showers around as we go into the evening time, so just be aware of that
02:17if you
02:17are heading out. Again, nothing substantial and not that widespread, so not particularly useful because
02:23it's been so dry, of course, but generally staying dry across England and Wales as we head into Sunday
02:28morning. Notice, though, it could turn quite misty with one or two fog patches, and then further north
02:33will change again as the cloud spills in the next weather system, bringing some rain into Western
02:37Scotland by dawn on Sunday. With more cloud here, it won't be as cold, but further south, as the cold
02:43front clears away, it will be a fresher start to Sunday with temperatures down into single figures. As well
02:48as that cooler start with the light winds, there will be some mist and fog around. Could take a while
02:52to clear
02:53as well over parts of eastern England, potential for some dense patches of fog, certainly for the
02:57first half of the morning. Much of the northern half of the UK will be cloudy on Sunday with rain
03:04and drizzle on and off. Bit of a messy one, really. Most persistent rain in Western Scotland, some
03:09brighter spells at times in northeastern Scotland. Much of northern England dry and bright as well, but
03:14again, some rain on and off, particularly over Cumbria. The odd shower coming into Wales, but a good chunk of
03:19England, Wales having a likely fine, sunny Sunday. The wind's light and temperatures going up a degree
03:25or so. Again, we could be into the 20s, perhaps as high as 22, 23 degrees across the southeastern
03:32corner, even further north. Yes, it'll be cloudy and breezy with some rain, but temperatures here also
03:37above the average. Been quite a mild start to October, to say the least. We're going to continue to see
03:42the
03:43weather patterns chopping and changing. There are some signs of things turning a little cooler as we go
03:47through the middle part of next week. For more on that, keep up to date with everything from the Met's
03:52office.
