Will the Sabres quiet offseason come back to bite them this season?

00:00Even the position the Sabres are in, if internally it's, well, we didn't really improve, we're
00:09going to be better two years from now because we kept Ausland and Helen Euse, we'll really
00:14appreciate that in two years.
00:16Like if all those guys hit and turn into top line type players for them, they're going
00:22to be really set up great.
00:24But if that's the bet.
00:28I don't want to say it's sacrifices this year because they've still got a respectable
00:32team that I think can be competitive for a playoff spot that they're putting on the
00:36ice, but they did not participate in the off season the way Florida did, the way Toronto
00:43did, the way Boston did, and Montreal, I think, got to leave out.
00:48They did not do anything like, you know, add a top line player.
00:51They added a role player and cried very late, which I think is a nice add.
00:55I would not have minded that idea here.
00:57Could have been here.
01:00But teams went after it.
01:03You know, Tampa lost Radish.
01:05They went and got John Carlson to replace Radish.
01:07We need a guy that can run our power play.
01:09I don't think Carlson will have the year Radish had last year.
01:12Who will?
01:13I mean, it was a monster season.
01:14But that's a respectable, known commodity that does the thing you lost that was most
01:21important, and you replaced it.
01:23The Sabres are betting on guys that can't grow beards to do all that, and that might
01:28work.
01:28And it especially might work down the road.
01:31But for this year, I don't think that they didn't improve.
01:36I don't think the finals will have the Fourth
01:36years, four, ten years.
01:36The new football team maps, the basketball team maps.
01:36But that's not the point.
