01:06But just want to give a couple shout-outs real quick.
01:09Shout-out to Andreas, who I met at Kobo's yesterday.
01:13Oh, yeah.
01:13I ended up going to Kobo's after the Astros game.
01:15I went to the Astros game.
01:17Got some free tickets.
01:18Bless your heart.
01:19Some free playoff tickets.
01:21Playoff tickets.
01:21Yes, playoff tickets.
01:23Were you in there booing?
01:24I was not, but they were booing.
01:27That'd be a letter.
01:27Ben and Susan and Christian Walker are very proud of you.
01:29Hey, they were booing in the first inning, though,
01:31before I even got to my damn seat.
01:33I'm like, what's going on?
01:34I was seeing everybody rounding them bases.
01:36I'm like, damn.
01:38Before anybody gets to sit down.
01:40He wasn't sitting down, not because he was late,
01:42but because he was getting something to eat in the line.
01:44Yeah, I actually got there right on time.
01:46Traffic wasn't bad.
01:48Got in.
01:49I'm like, you know what?
01:49Let me go to Pluckers real quick.
01:51Get some no-line at Pluckers.
01:52They did take a little long.
01:54I guess they had to make the wings I wanted.
01:56Yeah.
01:57So by the time I was walking back, I was boo.
02:00I'm like, dang, what's going on?
02:02I'm like, yeah, it's looking bad.
02:05But shout-out to Andreas, who I saw at Kobo's.
02:08And also, speaking of Kobo's, shout-out to Mr. Kobo himself.
02:12Oh, really?
02:12My man Raul.
02:13He went to the game.
02:15I think he left early, too, because it was state night at his spot.
02:19Okay.
02:19But I just want to throw this out here because, you know,
02:23I'm kind of putting his business out there.
02:25But he told me something yesterday I had to applaud.
02:29He is eight weeks sober.
02:32Hey!
02:32Oh, okay.
02:33Shout-out to Raul.
02:33So congratulations, man.
02:34Yeah, yeah.
02:35He's doing a little health journey, man.
02:36So, hey, that always brings a tear to my eye.
02:40He looked cool, too.
02:42He's just chilling.
02:42He's like, man, I'm eight weeks sober, man.
02:45Good for him.
02:45Yeah, so salute to you on your journey and all that stuff.
02:49But it's the mixtape presented by Sheriff Injury Lawyers.
02:53I do have a throwback funny story that happened.
02:57And I said this in a tease.
03:00It's about advertisement and how all advertisement ain't good advertisement.
03:04So this happened to a plumbing company out of Texas back in 2016 when the owner sold this truck.
03:13And you'll never guess where his truck ended up.
03:17A farmer's truck is his billboard.
03:20So what happens when that billboard turns up on the front lines of a war zone?
03:25My secretary called me and said, you can't believe this.
03:28Mark Oberholzer of Texas City, Texas was out deer hunting a year ago when he got the call from the
03:34office that ISIS fighters in Syria were tweeting out shots of his black Ford F-250, now sporting a serious
03:42new gun rack.
03:43I was shocked.
03:44Oberholzer says when he sold the truck in November of 2013, the dealer told him they'd remove the decal so
03:51as not to risk scratching the paint.
03:53But evidently, they never did.
03:55According to Carfax, the vehicle was auctioned off a month later in Houston.
03:59From there, it went all the way to Mersin, Turkey, before ending up in Aleppo, Syria.
04:05Those photos turned up on his Yelp page.
04:08The plumber says he got death threats and suffered a serious loss of business.
04:12He's suing the dealer.
04:14For suing for a million dollars, I believe I've lost that much work.
04:18The dealer blames the auction house, noting it's unfortunate that the customer had to go through this.
04:26If you see the picture, just imagine the pickup truck that says John's Plumbing and you got all these ISIS.
04:34OG sauce trucks.
04:35Yes.
04:36In Syria.
04:37And ISIS then built a gun rack on the back of the truck.
04:40Just hanging out the tailgate.
04:42I'm like, wait a minute.
04:43Not only that, it said John's Plumbing and they also had the phone number and everything on it.
04:48Yes, it was definitely, it was the truck.
04:51Yes.
04:51I do love the people that saw that and were like, clearly this is him.
04:54Clearly he decided.
04:55To go to Syria?
04:56This is how he's advertising.
04:58Why did he get death threats?
05:00Yeah.
05:00Like, why are y'all sending him death threats for this?
05:03Why did y'all really think that he was like, you know what?
05:05You know what's going to sell?
05:06Yeah.
05:06You know what's going to move plumbing services in Texas City, Texas?
05:11Trucking ISIS.
05:12So how did it, you said this was 2016.
05:13How did it end up?
05:14Did he get his million?
05:15I'm not sure.
05:16I'm going to have to follow, I'm going to have to follow that up and see.
05:19But yeah, I want to, I want to hear about that.
05:21That was hell of an advertisement.
05:22But you know what this made me think of?
05:24Because I think this happens more often than we care to admit.
05:27Or at least it happened to me once where, not quite car in Syria, but when I sold my
05:32car, my last car, and got my new car, they, you know, you anticipate that the dealership
05:37is going to do what they need to do.
05:39Tell me why I started getting tickets from.
05:42Oh, that's happened to me.
05:43The tolls?
05:44Yeah, toll tickets.
05:44Yeah.
05:45And it's like, yeah, your car.
05:47And it's like, well, the plates should have been taken off.
05:50Yeah, that's happened to me too.
05:51Why am I, why is this being said to me?
05:53Like, I was on, I was not on no tolls.
05:55I sold that car.
05:57And so, yeah, apparently this happens.
05:59Apparently, when you sell your car, I don't know what the process is, but you got to be
06:02a lot more diligent in making sure that, uh, that they change the title and everything.
06:06Otherwise you are going to get, you're going to get all that.
06:10Yes.
06:11From all that.
06:11The cars that don't have a clean title, maybe it's in a wreck or something as a dirty title,
06:17so to speak.
06:18A lot of times people buy those in auction and they take them across the border, you
06:22know, sometimes obviously for very pure reasons, you know, people over there want to, they
06:28don't care.
06:29They'll buy the vehicle, but sometimes those, those vehicles keep, keep going down the road
06:35and they end up in Syria in a war in Syria.
06:39I think I saw a story about like trucks that would take those.
06:42Oh, I see it all the time.
06:43And I think when we, I think when we were driving back from New Orleans, we saw, they
06:47daisy chain them.
06:48Yeah.
06:48Yeah.
06:49They go like, they tie three together and then there's like two or three groups of those.
06:53Those, I can guarantee you, those cars are going to Mexico and they're dirty titles.
06:57We saw one of those coming back from New Orleans.
06:59Yeah.
06:59Yeah.
07:02It's a mistake presented by Sheriff Injury Lawyers on In the Loop 95.7, the fan.
07:08This is a wild story as well.
07:10This ain't a throwback story, but this is a wild story about a man who was adopted and
07:15he finds out who his parents were.
07:18So here is KMOV4 with the story out of St. Louis.
07:23Michael Gessling has quite a story to tell.
07:26Always knew I was adopted.
07:27He was conceived when his biological parents were both 14 years old.
07:31They were told they were too young to get married.
07:34So Michael was adopted as an infant by Paul and Kay Gessling.
07:37Had a wonderful childhood.
07:39I couldn't not have handpicked two finer folks to raise me.
07:42Still, he always wondered who his birth parents were.
07:45Until the half brother he didn't know he had did a 23 and me DNA test.
07:50And on his 58th birthday, Michael met his birth mother and later talked to his birth
07:56father on the phone.
07:57I said, so tell me about yourself.
07:59What do you do?
08:00And so he said, well, I'm a musician.
08:03And he went on to tell me that in fact, looks like we'll be touring this summer.
08:07We'll be stopping in St. Louis.
08:09So who is Michael's birth father?
08:11Well, it's someone you might have heard of or better yet, it's someone you might have
08:14heard on the radio.
08:16Yeah, he's kind of well known.
08:17And then I finally said, are you Michael McDonald?
08:22And he said, yeah, I'm afraid so.
08:27Yeah, Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers.
08:29The guy who wrote and performed songs like What a Fool Believes and I Keep Forgetting.
08:33And the fact that they had the same name was a complete coincidence.
08:37I was unnamed.
08:38So it was my mom, Kay, who named me.
08:41Michael FaceTimed his father so I could ask him about his journey.
08:44I always carried that guilt with me, but just to know that he was okay and that he had
08:48a good life and a life certainly that I wouldn't probably have been able to afford him at that
08:52time in my life, you know, was, you know, a great reward.
08:58And I really appreciate you giving me a shot in this world and you've always been heroes
09:02in my story.
09:03You know, the real rock stars in this story for us are his adopted parents who, you know,
09:09really gave Michael everything a child needs, you know, in terms of love and security.
09:13You know what I hate?
09:15Wow.
09:16There's a lot happening.
09:17You know what I hate?
09:18The people who are rock stars that go, you know who the real rock stars are?
09:22Don't patronize me right now.
09:24Don't patronize.
09:24Get out of my face right now, Michael McDonald.
09:26I think he forgot he had a son.
09:27I keep forgetting that I had a son before.
09:31That is a, to say the least, weird and bizarre story.
09:35But it kind of has a, you say patronizing or whatever, it's, it seems a little kind of
09:42happy ending-ish.
09:43No, it does.
09:44You know?
09:44Yeah.
09:45It's good that a child ends up growing up and having all the support that they need.
09:49It's good.
09:49And Michael McDonald's like, I couldn't have done it.
09:51Right.
09:51It's good that a 14-year-old ended up being able to grow up.
09:53And see, the thing is, this wasn't like he was on tour just knocking them down and had
09:57a kid and, you know, something like that.
09:59They were 14.
10:00He was 14 years old.
10:01Mm-hmm.
10:01And the mom was 14.
10:03Yeah.
10:03So I'm like, dang.
10:05Yeah.
10:05But I was not expecting to hear that in the story because it's like, oh, a guy, find out
10:10who his dad is.
10:11Mm-hmm.
10:12And it's just like, wait, Michael McDonald?
10:15Like, what?
10:15That's wild.
10:16Yeah.
10:17He's going to have some stories to be able to tell.
10:19I mean, I guess he did tell us.
10:20Yeah, he did.
10:20That's a good one.
10:21Mm-hmm.
10:21Yeah, yeah.
10:22So salute to Michael McDonald, I guess.
10:24Finding his son.
10:25And taking his son on tour, apparently.
10:27Yeah.
10:27There you go.
10:27There you go.
10:28A fantastic mixtape here.
10:30You catch it every weekday at 1.20 p.m. right here on In Loop.
10:34Coming up, or rather, if you see something mixtape worthy, hit him up on social media at
