00:00Microphone testing.
00:02Oh yeah, Houston.
00:05It's that time of week where we shine a spotlight on some of the biggest boneheads in sports.
00:12From dumb penalties to clown behavior to straight up silly meltdowns.
00:17We're not letting them off the hook.
00:20It's T-Mills Turds of the Week on The Drive.
00:27Thank you, Big Voice Guy.
00:29It is that time for the turds of the week.
00:34Last week it was, I believe, Steve Sarkeesian who took home the gold.
00:41We'll see who it is this week.
00:43All right, kick us off.
00:44Who's got the bronze on T-Mills Turds list?
00:48Yes, another full podium of turdish behavior around pro sports.
00:51We're always looking out for it.
00:52And feel free, want to make sure the Drive family knows this is an interactive segment.
00:57Feel free to text in 713-572-4610 with your nominations, I guess, for turds of the week.
01:06Without further ado, the bronze medal this week on the turd podium.
01:10Got to go back to last weekend's college football action.
01:14NC State, the Wolfpack.
01:16They were leading in their game over Vanderbilt.
01:1931-28.
01:21Six seconds left in that matchup.
01:23This is what it sounded like to end it.
01:25What a huge stop by the Wolfpack defense.
01:28And C.J. Bailey has six seconds to burn here.
01:31Bailey is tackled with...
01:34The ball came out!
01:36And Vanderbilt recovered the football!
01:43Caden Daniels forced a fumble!
01:46And Vanderbilt has won it!
01:49What?
01:49The game is not over!
01:50The game is not over!
01:52The game is not over!
01:53They forced a fumble!
01:55That official turd.
01:57The game is over.
01:59The game was over, sir.
02:01Yeah, he stays on the bike.
02:03He was still going right there when you were explaining that.
02:05The ref was a little talkative.
02:07But the bronze turd this week's got to go to NC State.
02:10The Wolfpack, that is a horrendous way to lose a game.
02:13I mean, my Aggies got their asses beat, but at least I knew it was over pretty early.
02:17You thought you had it in the bag.
02:18NC State blows it late.
02:20I'm off base with giving the bronze to NC State, boys.
02:23Absolutely should be the gold, I'll be honest.
02:24I was going to say, that's a hell of a bronze.
02:27I mean, what's the rest of it?
02:27If we were in North Carolina, it'd be the gold, for sure.
02:30But, I mean, look, here's the deal.
02:31I'm about tired of people tagging me on this, talking about he pulled a Clint Sterner.
02:35Let me tell you something.
02:35Oh, hell no.
02:36Let me tell you something.
02:37I was trying to win the game.
02:38We made a good decision.
02:40I just dropped the damn ball.
02:41That is a fireable offense.
02:43And I ain't talking about the young man, either.
02:45Quarterback coach, offensive coordinator, and I believe the head coach is an offensive man.
02:49I think he's an old quarterback.
02:51Who's the NC State head coach?
02:53Oh, I'm lost on that.
02:55I believe he's an old quarterback, isn't he?
02:56I think he has Kansas ties, too.
02:59Hey, look here, man.
03:00Hey, it's a fireable offense, man.
03:02Is it David?
03:03Dan?
03:04It's a D.
03:04Kurt Roper.
03:05Well, that's not who I thought was at NC State.
03:07I thought it was a D, too.
03:09NC State Wolfpack head coach?
03:10Yeah, yeah.
03:11Well, AI tells me it is Kurt Roper.
03:14Did they fire the other guy?
03:16Like, I'm talking about a fireable offense?
03:17I thought it was a...
03:18Yeah, maybe they...
03:18Yeah, this guy was already on staff and elevated to OC this year.
03:22No, I'm talking about the head coach.
03:23The head coach?
03:24The OC is Kurt Roper.
03:25Yeah, I know who Kurt Roper is.
03:27Yeah, Dave Dorn.
03:28Dave Dorn.
03:28My bad.
03:29I thought you were asking about the OC.
03:30I was about to say Dave was a D.
03:31Yeah, he's...
03:32Anybody that has anything to do with the offensive side of the football
03:35and has an offensive mind on that staff, they should be fired.
03:37He's really done a good job there, too.
03:40Nope.
03:40They should be fired.
03:41So, that is your bronze turd.
03:43It's the NC State Wolfpack in third place.
03:46I think you boys will be all right with the gold turd this week
03:49and that it's not NC State.
03:50You'll see why here in a second.
03:51But before that, we have the silver turd of the week around sports.
03:55This was a former Astros great closer, Ryan Presley.
04:00He was on a podcast this week called To the Majors
04:02and he was talking about Ryan Presley was his relationship
04:06or really lack thereof, not a great relationship,
04:08with GM Dana Brown and kind of how things went down
04:12when Hader was acquired by the Astros.
04:14Ryan Presley speaks to all that right here.
04:16What was the explanation there?
04:18That's a great question.
04:19I would love to know the answer to it.
04:20I went out there after we just got done clearing the benches in the ALCS
04:23and just threw two shutout innings to take the series back to Houston.
04:27Tell me why I'm losing my job and he couldn't give me an answer.
04:29And he just kind of gave the standard PR,
04:32hey, we think the game's going to be over in the sixth inning now.
04:34I'm not saying that I can't make an adjustment,
04:36but at least be a man and tell me why I'm losing my job.
04:39He never did that.
04:40He never gave me that explanation.
04:42And yeah, you could say that the writing's on the wall
04:44that Josh Hader is a better closer than me.
04:47100%.
04:47I'm not denying that.
04:49But give me an opportunity to lose my job first.
04:53That was Ryan Presley talking about former general manager Dana Brown with Houston Astros.
04:58He also went on to talk about how him and Dana just did not have a good relationship.
05:02Towards the end, we're not really talking at all.
05:04This is just one more thing I add to the list of Dana Brown's time here with the Astros,
05:09making the calls as general manager, that he clearly just wasn't getting right.
05:14He wasn't keeping his players happy.
05:15He wasn't communicating.
05:16If you're going to go get Hader, as Presley said, boys,
05:20that's one of the best closers in the league.
05:22Ryan Presley probably could have understood it and been cool with it.
05:25But communicate with your people.
05:27People in positions of leadership, you've got to communicate with your people
05:29so that way there's not any confusion.
05:32Am I off base to put Dana Brown, who is now out the door, as a silver turd this week?
05:37I like it.
05:40I don't think you're off base.
05:43I think Ryan's fooling himself a little bit, though.
05:47Ryan, we just paid $95 million to go get this guy.
05:50No, you're not going to get an opportunity to beat him out for the job.
05:55All the other part of being a man and communicate with me, but Ryan, you know the game.
06:00Now, you know your ass wasn't going to have no opportunity to beat him out.
06:03There's only one closer.
06:05You're going to be the setup man because that was what you was before.
06:08I get all the other stuff.
06:09I think Dana is probably an awful communicator.
06:12Yeah, it seems like it could help.
06:14But you knew when they signed that contract, Jim signed that contract.
06:19No, you weren't competing for that.
06:21No, but to speak to that, and it wasn't in the audio, the broader discussion Presley
06:27was having there, he also spoke to how he just didn't know any of that was happening.
06:32No, that part.
06:33Yeah, yeah.
06:33Like all of a sudden, Hader was there, and he's like, okay, I'm pitching my ass off.
06:37Now I'm out of a job.
06:38He didn't even know he was coming in.
06:40But no, I hear what you're saying.
06:43Golden Turd of the Week.
06:45It is a first.
06:46This is the first time this has ever happened.
06:48Ron's going to love it.
06:49Sometimes on the turd podium each week, we do have some friendly fire.
06:53You might hear another personality land on the podium for the turds.
06:56One of our friends, our family here at Sports Radio 610-957, the fan.
07:01It happens often.
07:03This time for the first time, it is me.
07:04It is Tyler Milner.
07:06It is T-Mill taking the Golden Turd this week because, well, in a panic and my stumbling
07:13over some words and misspeaking earlier this week on Tuesday during T-Mill's best bets,
07:17I kind of threw Clint under the bus.
07:18This is what it sounded like.
07:20You never know.
07:20Yeah, you never know with Joe, and that's why I'm going to give the people a bonus bet
07:24of over 100.
07:24Not 100.
07:25Bases.
07:26One and a half bases.
07:27Oh, wow.
07:28For Jordan Alvarez.
07:29Jose Altuve is your best bet at over 100.
07:32Why am I saying 100?
07:33I don't know, man.
07:34Clint keeps turning his mic off.
07:35If I'm saying 100 instead of 1.5, what does my mic have to do?
07:39I just had to bring someone else down.
07:41Damn, man.
07:41He really did.
07:42I was mainly laughing at it.
07:44I'm here for you.
07:44I'm here for you.
07:45Last segment was hilarious because it was like a fifth time, so now everyone's forgotten
07:49about me saying 100.
07:51And now you've been reminded again because I am your Turd of the Week.
07:55I am holding the Golden Turd trophy.
07:56I'm proud of you.
07:57And I will proudly represent that because I threw Clint under the bus.
08:00It was unnecessary, and I got to be better.
08:03You know what?
08:03Two things.
08:04One, you didn't realize it in the moment.
08:06You had to go home and think about this.
08:08That's unfair to me.
08:10And then I think the second part, when he doubled, really tripled down on it and said,
08:14well, last time it happened five times.
08:17You turned your mic off five times.
08:19He kept right on.
08:21Yeah, I mean, he just kept on.
08:24I mean, it wasn't like, oops, my bad.
08:25It was like, let me keep on coming, and then I'll just apologize later.
08:28Yeah, that was good.
08:29That was really good.
08:30It's only appropriate.
08:31It happened five times in the last segment.
08:33Five of them.
08:33Cinco.
08:34He was over there counting, so he told me he was counting.
08:36My mic drops.
08:38It's only appropriate, though.
08:39You know, your boy finally lands on the turds of the week.
08:41First time ever, and I get the gold.
08:43I'm a winner.
08:44Winners win.
08:45Anybody that throws dirty under the bus should be on the turds list.
08:50I'm not an under-the-bus guy.
08:52I'm just telling you.
08:52I hate to say this.
08:53I hate to say this.
08:54I hate to say this.
08:55For some honorable mentions.
08:56Yes, yes, please.
08:58I think both current and former Texans offensive linemen should be on the turds list.
09:05And not just because of their play, but y'all just can't let Dexter Lawrence talk to you like that.
09:13Oh, good call.
09:14Yeah, that was...
09:14And then you look real bad with, like, I thought we were friends.
09:19Y'all just can't...
09:19Like, not every man.
09:20He went one by one.
09:21I think less of Wyatt Teller for that, too.
09:23One by one.
09:25God, Keelan Rutledge, I mean, wasn't that Georgia Tech no more.
09:29I need to go home and face your family.
09:29That was just...
09:30You're soft.
09:31I mean, repeatedly.
09:33And then...
09:33Just like turds.
09:34And then Laramie Tunzel.
09:36Laramie Tunzel was on with Rich Kleinman.
09:38With Tunzel.
09:39With Kevin Durant's guy, Rich Kleinman.
09:41We might have to talk about this one.
09:42And he went in and talked about the Texans fans were too hard on him.
09:46And specifically, when he was asked about it, he was like,
09:51because I had false starts.
09:52I mean, I had six in one game.
09:53I was there.
09:54And then he said, I had 19 in one season.
09:57What's...
09:57How many did you have in the season?
09:5819.
09:58Rich Kleinman said, I'll be honest with you.
10:00I think I would have booed you.
10:01The guy I was with you.
10:03Come on, bro.
10:04False starting more than almost anybody.
10:06Do your job.
10:08You had six false starts in one game.
10:11It was the game that Tyler was at, so he obviously has to take some part of that.
10:15But it was...
10:16Freaking Minnesota.
10:17He had 19 false starts.
10:20In a season.
10:21And he said, I can't believe why.
10:23They booed me.
10:24And Rich said, I think I would have booed you.
10:26Yeah, if you heard a singular booer up in Minnesota in that game, that was me, Laramie.
10:31I'm glad you have it.
10:32Yeah, that was tough, man.
10:34Come on, man.
10:34And once you...
10:35Yeah, I hear you a little bit.
10:36Like, once you get to about three, man, you got to throw out the window of that, man.
10:40And I'm just about to get just all the support from these guys.
10:44At some point, people got a little bit upset about that.
10:46All right.
10:46Let's go.
10:47Let's go.
