00:00It's been an incredible honour to be the parliamentary leader of the Australian Greens
00:04and it's with great sadness that I'm not able to continue in that role due to my health getting worse.
00:13I hope to be okay but I need to look after myself to do that.
00:17I'm really proud of how the team has worked together over the last 16 months
00:23and I'm proud that our party is polling higher than ever before
00:27amidst the surge to the right-wing forces of politics.
00:37It's been a wild ride and I want to thank all of the team for their support
00:42and all of the incredible staff that I've had the privilege to support me over the time.
00:48We've got a lot of work to do.
00:50The country's in a state and people deserve politicians that work for them,
00:54not work for corporate interests.
00:55So whilst I'm proud of the time that I have spent leading this incredible team,
01:01I am very proud to be a humble backbencher and a senator for Queensland after I take some medical leave
01:08and I'm very, very proud to introduce the next leader,
01:14now the new leader of the Australian Greens parliamentary team,
01:19Senator David Shoebridge.
01:26Thanks so much, Larissa.
01:28I just first of all want to pay enormous tribute to the work of Larissa.
01:32She took on the leadership of the Australian Greens in challenging circumstances
01:36and bloody hell, she rose to the occasion.
01:40Led with compassion, led with principle, showed what collective leadership can do.
01:46And as I think the public now realises, showing that leadership, showing that strength,
01:53while also dealing with personal health circumstances, there are a few politicians that you can really
01:58point to who so clearly put the planet and the public ahead of their own interests.
02:04We were privileged to be led by Larissa.
02:07None of us wanted to find ourselves in these circumstances today because I can tell you this,
02:13Larissa had the rock solid and still has the love of the Australian Greens party room and our membership.
02:21So I want to thank Larissa for the leadership, for the work of Deputy Leader,
02:27former Deputy Leader, Senator Faruqi, for the work they've done
02:31and the basis that they've given us to really kick on with this struggle.
