00:00Kogel has agreed to report suspected child sexual abuse material from India directly to Indian authorities.
00:07Until now, those reports went through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children,
00:11a U.S.-based organization, before reaching law enforcement in India.
00:16But Indian officials say that extra step causes significant delays,
00:20wasting precious time when trying to find children in immediate danger.
00:24That's why India pushed tech companies for a more direct route.
00:28But giving authorities a direct line to Google also raises privacy questions.
00:32The details of what user data could be shared and the safeguards around it are not yet clear.
00:38And Google isn't the first to agree.
00:40Meta made the same move just days earlier, committing to report child safety matters directly to India's national cybercrime portal.
00:48The scale of the problem is huge.
00:50The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported that worldwide
00:54there were more than 21 million suspected cases of child sexual exploitation in 2025 alone.
01:01Most countries still use that international system.
01:04But India's new direct route is designed to help authorities in India save children's lives.
