Hidden high in the Swiss Alps lies Rienza — a remote centuries-old mountain settlement that can only be reached on foot. 🇨🇭
With almost 900 vertical metres to climb, we set out from the valley carrying all our camera and camping equipment, while testing the Hypershell X Ultra S exoskeleton on a real mountain expedition.
What started as a journey to document a forgotten Alpine village turned into something completely unexpected. We discovered centuries of mountain history, spent the night inside its tiny chapel, and met the people who still keep a connection to Rienza alive today.

This documentary combines our journey through the Swiss Alps with conversations with people connected to Rienza, historic photographs, archival material and research into the settlement and the surrounding mountain landscape.
Rienza is not presented as completely abandoned: while many structures are vacant or have fallen into ruin, a number of cottages are still maintained and seasonally used by people with longstanding connections to the settlement.
