00:00The White House is now running a series of TV ads featuring President Trump paid for by the U.S.
00:06government, and the newest one may look familiar. It shows Trump walking down a hallway with audio
00:11of him calling this, quote, the final battle. Take a listen. We will cast out the communists,
00:17Marxists, and fascists. We will throw off the sick political class that hates our country.
00:23We will rout the fake news media, and we will liberate America from these villains
00:28once and for all. And then at the end, this. See there at the bottom? Paid for by the U
00:36.S.
00:37government. The ad aired during at least two NFL games on Sunday, but here's what's getting
00:42attention. The ad is nearly identical to a video Trump posted during his 2024 presidential campaign.
00:49That version included his campaign logo and a number to text. The new version drops those
00:55and adds that government-funded disclaimer. And it's not the only one. At least three
01:00government-funded Trump ads have aired in recent days, including one denouncing communism and
01:05socialism, and another built around his July 4th speech at Mount Rushmore. Some Republicans
01:11are questioning the ads, too. Louisiana Senator John Kennedy was asked about them on CBS Face the
01:17Nation on Sunday. I don't think any public official, including President Trump or Kristi Noem or John
01:24Kennedy, should spend public money on private ads for themselves. Now, the White House sees it
01:34differently. And it does. The White House calls these public service announcements, saying they are,
01:40quote, very clearly not campaign ads. President Trump is not on the ballot and there is no call to action.
01:46Four Democratic lawmakers are now demanding the White House take the ads down and disclose how much
01:52they cost. In a letter to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, they call them a, quote,
01:57egregious and illegal misuse of taxpayer money.
