00:20the runway project has been pushed back by four years to 2039, with airport buses understood to
00:27have told the government sticking to the deadline set by Ms Reeves is not possible. The airport aims
00:34to get planning permission by 2029 and from that point believes building a new runway within a
00:40decade to be a reasonable goal. Its bosses believe it could be delivered more quickly, but that this
00:47may require further regulatory red tape to be removed beyond reforms that the government has
00:53already made to planning law. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander insisted the project could go
01:00ahead in a way that would not fall foul of climate change commitments. The Climate Change Committee,
01:06the expert panel that advises the government, said earlier this month that the expansion of
01:11Hefa Airport cannot go ahead unless the aviation industry is forced to clean up its emissions.
01:17Ms Alexandra told the Daily Telegraph, the committee had set out one view, but there was more than
01:24one pathway to meeting our climate change obligations.
