00:05in the early morning of February 23 2022 a woman had gone down to her basement the
00:13basement she had in her house because she was looking for her son when she turned on
00:19the lights she saw a plastic bucket there and this was a scene straight out of a horror movie
00:27because right there she found remains of a body along with something much more gruesome the victim
00:34was shot Tyrion a 24 year old young man with his whole life ahead of him but his friendships with
00:41their own people led him to a tragic end Shad's death not only shocked an entire community due
00:49to the cruelty of this story but it also left hanging a disturbing question to what extent
00:58does a mind destroyed by addiction and obsession retain the ability to distinguish between reality
01:06fantasy and absolute evil this story takes us to Green Bay one of the main cities in the state of
01:23Wisconsin in the United States and this happened during a terrible winter a freezing winter in this
01:32city it was 3 25 in the morning on Wednesday February 23 2022 and the emergency line received a frantic
01:45call from a man who is later identified as Steve Hendricks on the other end of the line this man
01:54had requested the immediate presence of the police at eight eight to nine Stony Brook Lane because his
02:01partner Tara Pekanich had just made a horrific discovery on the lower level of the house she had heard strange
02:10noises so she went down to the basement of her house and there at the bottom of a plastic bucket
02:17she found
02:19the severed head of her own son named Chad Thryan obviously with this discovery the mother was deeply disturbed
02:30this description of the scene is already quite sinister but when the police arrived at the place
02:36where all of this happened they realized that the head found was just the tip of the iceberg the scene
02:42was
02:43absolutely macabre inside the bucket they not only found the head but also his genitals severed genitals or
02:51rather severed genitals because tests would be run later the floor was covered with cardboard boxes
02:58containing human remains and organs and inside the duffel bag was the victim's torso upon collecting the
03:07initial evidence the police found kitchen knives bed sheets and a mattress splattered with blood in
03:14addition they also found a pipe that still held traces of illicit substances but this scene wasn't only
03:23terrifying it was also enigmatic despite the dismemberment the amount of blood on the floor was abnormally low
03:32indicating that someone had taken the time to meticulously clean the place before fleeing
03:38additionally one of the victim's legs had disappeared without a trace for the investigators the first big
03:48question was determining who had a motive to brutalize Chad like that
04:02before telling you all the details of what happened uh i think it's important to get to know a little
04:09better the person behind this story Chad was born on september 7th 1997 in an area called green bay wisconsin
04:20he had
04:21three siblings and his parents had already separated quite some time ago he lived with his biological dad
04:28although he used to visit his mother and even though it wasn't normal for him on certain occasions he would
04:34sleep over Chad is remembered by his friends and loved ones as a calm person they also mentioned that he
04:40was
04:41kind extremely polite and that he also liked spending time with his family we also have to say that he
04:47was a very
04:48artistic guy and he liked woodworking Chad Therrien didn't lead an entirely quiet life even though
04:55he worked with his father and also with his grandfather in the pharmaceutical business
05:01in recent months he had entered what we could call dangerous territory in october 2021 Chad had been
05:12arrested for disturbing the peace and also for resisting a police officer and he was also having problems with
05:20substance abuse the mother after the body was discovered was questioned to provide details of his
05:27last known movements on the afternoon of monday february 21st a young woman named taylor a childhood friend of
05:36chad's arrived at the house at the residence to pick him up in a gold minivan tara the mother had
05:44known
05:44taylor for years and this young woman was extremely affectionate at that moment she greeted the mother with
05:51a warm hug chatted with her for a few minutes and showed a completely peaceful demeanor according to the
05:59mother's account the couple left the house around 9 30 at night when they returned later they went
06:08straight into the basement the next morning tara saw the gold van parked outside the house so she assumed
06:18that her son was just resting downstairs after possibly a night of partying
06:26it wasn't until three in the morning on wednesday that tara heard a thud on the outside basement door
06:33and she also mentioned that she heard the sound of an engine driving off into the distance possibly a
06:42vehicle at that point she realized that taylor had finally left the house the thud was probably the door
06:51and the sound of the engine was the gold van pulling away from the house that way according to the
06:58mother
06:59she had left chad safe at the house however when she went down to check at some point that day
07:09tara came
07:10across this whole situation this whole terrible scene with her son dead and dismembered
07:18and the whole scene we described earlier to the police this chain of events didn't quite add up
07:26had taylor been the last person to see chad alive or had someone else taken advantage of the basement
07:33door to sleep in unseen in the early morning hours and perhaps settle a score with the young man
07:51as the entire investigative process got underway the detectives didn't rule out any possibility
07:58based on what chad's mother said authorities believed the person who committed the crime
08:04couldn't be far away
08:08there was one place where they had to start and ann was precisely with taylor because according to the
08:14mother she had been the last one to see her son alive then came the loud thud followed by the
08:21van
08:21driving away from the house the first thing they did was cross-reference the information in the police
08:28databases but when they did this the investigators quickly discovered that this woman taylor was hiding
08:34a past that no one had known about until that moment and that was because she had gotten married
08:40some time earlier and her current name was taylor chebisness taylor had married a man named warren
08:47chebelis on february 14th 2020 who at that time was in prison serving a 28-month sentence for the
08:56distribution of illicit substances this relationship however was the least of the red flags what really
09:04raised eyebrows was that taylor had a long history behind her but let's go way back to find out who
09:12taylor was she had been born in chicago illinois into a deeply dysfunctional family
09:19and under the name of taylor denise coronado her mother according to records was an alcoholic who spent
09:28most of the day drunk and she ended up dying of cirrhosis when her daughter was only 12 years old
09:35it's no surprise that all of this cost taylor who was just a child at the time to develop an
09:42aggressive
09:42violent and also unstable temper so much so that by the time she reached seventh grade she had to receive
09:50psychiatric treatment and was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder
09:56shortly after her mother passed away taylor brutally beat a classmate
10:03which is why she ended up being expelled from school in the year 2018 taylor's father this man named
10:11arturo coronado would be imprisoned and years later sentenced to 12 years in prison for abusing
10:19a minor and it was during this period of time that taylor still being young tried to rebuild her life
10:27living for a while with her grandparents in texas where things began to improve or at least that's how it
10:34seemed as she entered adulthood her mental health began to deteriorate rapidly once again driven by
10:42excessive drinking and illicit substance abuse and in february 2020 taylor married warren chabot who shortly
10:51before had legally changed his last name to chavisness the couple tried to strike out on their own
11:00but things quickly got complicated and they ended up facing financial and personal problems as well
11:08caused mainly by addictions to illegal substances in june 2020 this woman was arrested for threatening and
11:18hitting a police officer after he saw her acting suspiciously on the streets she pleaded guilty to
11:24the charges and she was released on probation with a recommendation to undergo psychiatric treatment
11:31two months after this she was speeding in a vehicle she fled during a police checkpoint when the
11:39authorities intercepted her they found syringes and traces of illicit substances inside her car
11:46as a result taylor was sentenced to three years of probation and they ordered her to wear this mandatory
11:53gps ankle monitor which she later removed illegally when this whole situation took place
12:01in the year 2021 taylor and warren had a child but the arrival of this new family member didn't make
12:09things any better warren was arrested for drug distribution and sent to prison and he was
12:18sentenced to 28 months this left taylor all alone unemployed with no family support whatsoever
12:26and with a newborn she had to take care of and you make matters worse in the year 2021 her
12:34brother lost
12:34his life in a tragic motorcycle accident and this blow it plunged her into a severe crisis marked by
12:43hysteria and substance abuse which ended with her being committed to a psychiatric institution and it was upon
12:52leaving this facility that she reunited with chad
13:01a few minutes after processing the initial scene at chad's mother's house a group of officers
13:08headed toward an apartment complex located on eastman avenue where they knew the suspect used to stay as
13:15as soon as they arrived at the scene the officers noticed that outside the building there was a gold minivan
13:23parked
13:24and it was a van identical to the one the victim's mother had described not outside the house but outside
13:32the apartment building
13:34and as they shone their flashlights inside the vehicle they noticed there was a cardboard box inside
13:42with small brown stains and right in front of it a pair of bloody footprints were visible in the snow
13:49that seemed to come from the car and there was no need to go looking for her because at that
13:55very moment
13:55a young woman had come out of a building and ran right into the officers when questioned about her identity
14:02she confirmed her name was taylor shabbosness at first this woman seemed surprised to see them there
14:10but then she seemed composed and quite calm as soon as they approached her the police noticed that all her
14:17clothes had traces of dried blood so they handcuffed her immediately once inside the patrol car
14:25taylor did everything except show concern or fear she started laughing uncontrollably she also began
14:32saying incoherent things and then even won the officers that she felt like she was about to lose control
14:40another detail worth mentioning is that in that same apartment block a man named scott who was the owner
14:46of the gold van was temporarily detained and this was no small detail because we're talking about this van
14:53that the mother first mentioned and which later led the officers right to this apartment on eastman avenue
15:01where taylor was with this man named scott toms when they questioned both of them scott
15:07had a version of events that the officers were able to verify
15:12this had happened in the hours following them being taken to the police station he was then released once
15:18it was confirmed that he had nothing to do with the murder they were investigating but in taylor's case
15:26her attitude continued to baffle the authorities one of the procedures carried out after the arrest
15:34was photographing her hands which were covered in blood they also photographed scratches
15:42and the cut was found on her thumb
15:46however instead of looking uncomfortable or intimidated during the procedure taylor seemed to
15:53take it like a joke she was posing sarcastically when they were taking pictures of her and she had that
16:02mocking attitude at all times while this was happening at the station other officers thoroughly searched the gold
16:11minivan where they found the evidence that conclusively implicated her in the back seat of the vehicle
16:18on top of a basket of clothes there was a cardboard box for an electric cooker and inside of this
16:26box
16:26was the leg that we mentioned was missing from the crime scene with this van impounded and the suspect
16:34in custody the case seemed solved in a matter of hours the investigators already had the perpetrator and the
16:42evidence on the table the only thing no one was able to explain yet was why and the answer would
16:50end up
16:50being provided by taylor herself sitting across from two detectives without them even having to pressure her
17:05chad and taylor weren't strangers as we mentioned earlier both young people had met at school they had
17:11been friends and they had ended up losing touch until the beginning of the year 2022 the records don't
17:19make it very clear the exact day they crossed paths again but they do mention that this reunion took place
17:28in early 2022 just a few weeks before the night of the crime a key piece of information is that
17:37they were
17:37struggling with addiction and they had known each other before they went to school together so that
17:46meant they ended up in this sort of relationship shortly after she got out of the psych ward
17:53they became lovers because keep in mind taylor was married the dynamic between them was extremely intense
18:01and dangerous they mixed heavy substance abuse with intimate sessions that went beyond bdsm and ironically
18:12it would be this last practice where it would end in tragedy according to her own statements taylor
18:18shabiznes arrived on the night of february 21 2022 at the house of chad's mother to meet up with him
18:25all of
18:26this aboard this gold van taylor and chad they went to a mutual friend's apartment where they spent a
18:33couple of hours consuming illicit substances besides injecting themselves with trazodone a powerful
18:40antidepressant it can cause effects like deep drowsiness fatigue dizziness confusion and decreased alertness
18:49or motor coordination but it's also worth mentioning that when taken over a period of time
18:55those effects begin to fade away but in this situation they won't just taking this medication
19:04you also have to factor in their hard drug use so that whole mix turned into a ticking time bomb
19:13after being at this friend's house and using substances the couple returned to chad's mother's house around
19:199 30 pm and from there they went straight down to the basement where they started having sex
19:26but at that certain point the session took a very dark turn one of the things they did during these
19:34sessions was choking erotic asphyxiation using a chain leash but that night things got out of hand
19:45taylor mentioned that she got on chad's back and put the metal chain around his neck to strangle him
19:51taylor admitted that even though this started out as consensual
19:56at one point chad signaled her to stop but she didn't according to her own statements which drew
20:04attention for being particularly graphic taylor said she kept tightening the collar while watching
20:09chad's face turn purple and start coughing up blood she didn't let go of this chain until chad's body
20:18went limp and these statements matched the autopsy which is important to mention because it was
20:25confirmed that he died from strangulation he didn't die from an overdose so basically taylor was telling the
20:33whole truth now this situation of the intimate encounter the murder at that moment by asphyxiation
20:42it was obviously intense but what she did with the body afterward we could mention or we could say
20:50that it crossed all the lines during the following hours she spent her time abusing the corpse using
20:58various objects and engaging in acts of this very nature with the body until well into the morning
21:09she proceeded to dismember it she went up to the kitchen took several knives placed the corpse on a
21:15mattress and proceeded to decapitate it one of the most sinister aspects of this case is that
21:22far from trying to justify herself or elicit any kind of sympathy from the officers taylor seemed to
21:28be kind of proud of everything she had done with the body in her statement statements like the
21:35following were recorded i was sucking and cutting at the same time i liked it you're gonna have fun
21:41trying to find all the organs at one point she admitted to having poured some of her victim's blood
21:48into a bucket so she could then take a shower with it with this liquid in the basement bathroom and
21:56even
21:57he asked the officers a question which was the following have you ever loved something
22:06so much that you wanted to kill it
22:10the woman then cut open chad's abdomen removed his internal organs one by one
22:16to pack them in cardboard boxes and plastic bags intending to and she was able to do it the body
22:22to his own apartment to keep going carrying out the abuse over the next few days something he couldn't
22:31do given the severe state of intoxication he was still in so he ended up carrying just one of the
22:36legs to the gold minivan and forgetting the rest of the bags with the body parts in the basement before
22:42leaving the scene what was most baffling to the detectives was the way taylor recounted this entire
22:49situation taylor described each step with a level of detail that we could say was sick even remembering
23:00which corner of the basement he had left each body part in
23:06and at the same time he was recounting it with absolute calm speaking slowly at an easy pace
23:14without any signs of fear about what could happen to him after
23:22being identified as a suspect without his behavior betraying the effect of any substance
23:45taylor's arrest and confession obviously allowed
23:50them to quickly discover that she was responsible for the crime
23:55but the story wasn't over yet everyone knew taylor had done it there was no doubt about that
24:02the real dilemma came during the legal process and they were actually two distinct questions
24:09the first was whether taylor was fit to stand trial that is if she understood what was happening in
24:15the courtroom and could assist her lawyers the second one went much deeper whether at the time of the
24:23crime she was suffering from a mental disease or defect that under wisconsin law could excuse her
24:29from being held responsible for what she did on september 1st 2022 the defense officially filed a plea of
24:37not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect stating that her severe history of psychiatric issues
24:45combined with her excessive substance abuse led her to commit an atrocity of which she was not fully aware
24:53but for the persecution this was quite clear to them taylor's behavior not only made it very clear that she
25:00felt
25:00no remorse whatsoever but she also seemed quite lucid when recounting how she did it
25:06and in a nutshell this meant that this person is dangerous to society
25:13two psychologists appointed by the court itself testified in favor of the prosecution and were quite
25:19emphatic for them what led taylor to act that way was substance abuse something that in that state in
25:26wisconsin is excluded from the defense of mental disease or defect and they pointed out a key detail
25:35that she took the trouble to dismember the body and clean up the basement it proved that she knew
25:41perfectly well what she had done at that moment that it was wrong after several months of in-depth
25:49psychiatric evaluations some specialists concluded that although taylorshire business was a deeply troubled
25:55and unstable person taylor was in full possession of her mental faculties and therefore fit to stand trial
26:04this was a news that taylor took well on february 14 2023 during a preliminary hearing taylor found out
26:12that this process was going to be postponed and upon finding this out she lunged at her own defense
26:21attorney the attack lasted a few seconds and fortunately the attorney wasn't injured but this happened so
26:28fast that it caught even the security officer in the courtroom by surprise after this to no one's
26:36surprise the attorney submitted his resignation and was replaced weeks later but these kinds of incidents
26:42were not isolated during the proceedings when she went to court they put a spit hood on her and this
26:52was a
26:52measure that the authorities decided on because when entering the courtroom or the different places where she had to
26:59go through this process she would spit at people inside the jail and also in other places on repeated occasions
27:08she was seen making mocking faces at the press and she was also seen wiping away fake tears while smiling
27:16as she
27:16listened to the witnesses here too something must be said this could have been an act to supposedly show that
27:25she was having real psychotic breaks or that
27:30she couldn't face a trial either way the trial officially began on july 24 2023 amid enormous media
27:40anticipation during these sessions taylor chavez nice appeared before the cameras making these gestures
27:47laughing whenever the goriest details of what happened that night were revealed one of the most shocking
27:53moments of the hearings occurred during the testimony of one of the medical examiners who detailed the
28:00precision almost surgical with which the defendant mutilated the lifeless body of shad thirion another
28:07quite revealing testimony was that of forensic psychologist diane leaton who revealed that taylor suffered
28:14from a morbid fixation on the infamous serial killer jeffrey dahmer she was so obsessed that she
28:21repeatedly claimed to have had a romantic relationship with dahmer just a year ago something completely
28:29impossible not only because dahmer wasn't into women but because by that time he had been dead for almost 30
28:37years this obsession was publicly backed up when prosecutors presented the analysis of taylor's cell phone
28:44her internet search history included explicit phrases such as jeffrey dahmer walking into court
28:53looking so sexy or jeffrey dahmer's butt along with a photograph taken on february 12 2022 just 11 days
29:02before murdering chat where she could be seen smiling posing next to a picture of this serial killer
29:09the defense tried to get the judge not to consider these searches as evidence but the judge denied the
29:15request and this made it clear that chad thirion's death was not a simple accident resulting from a sex
29:25game that supposedly had gotten out of hand but rather the materialization of the sadistic fantasies this
29:33woman had been harboring for a long time on july 26 2023 the jury delivered its verdict taylor shabizness
29:42was found guilty on all charges of first degree intentional homicide mutilation of a corpse and third
29:49degree sexual assault she was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole she was also
29:57handed two consecutive sentences that added 18 years to her prison term and within the victim's family
30:05there were two stances on one hand there was chad's uncle a man named kelly therion who addressed taylor
30:13at one point said that he was going to pray for her to end up suffering in prison and meet
30:21the same
30:22violent fate as jeffrey damer on the other hand the victim's father michael therion chose to forgive
30:31his son's killer and stated that despite the magnitude of her actions he hoped that her time in prison
30:38would help her reflect and become a better person as of today taylor shabizness is serving her sentence
30:44at the tai chi da correctional institution a maximum security prison for women in wisconsin her case
30:53remains in the collective memory as a reminder
30:59of how addiction mental instability and the darkest obsessions can combine to destroy lives in the most
31:09ruthless way that's all for today's case i look forward to your comments down below and that way we'll meet
31:17again in the next story
