Petrol prices remain front of mind for motorists, with the ongoing war in the middle east putting further strain on global supply. The CEO of the Australian institute of petroleum, Malcolm Roberts, says the past few weeks have been difficult for industry, as well as drivers.

00:01We've had about a 30% surge in the wholesale price for petrol and diesel at the trading
00:07hub of Singapore and that's fed through to retail prices in Australia.
00:12It is all related obviously to the crisis in the Middle East but also there's other
00:16factors at work including Russia's export ban on diesel, obviously there's discussions
00:22in the United States about a similar export ban.
00:24It's a very, very tight market and while Australians shouldn't be concerned about Australia losing
00:31supply it's obviously having an impact on the prices of the Bowsers here.
00:35We've got very substantial reserves held by the industry, about a month's worth of diesel
