00:00Hello friends. Breaking news from the Donetsk front. Ukraine has eliminated a key Russian
00:06salient west of Druskivka in an operation that lasted almost two months. We'll see it next.
00:12To begin, this is an extraordinary high-resolution photo taken from the cockpit of a Ukrainian F-16
00:18that has just shot down a GERON-4 strategic jet attack drone over the airspace of Kiev.
00:24Using its 20mm Gatling gun to save the valuable Western AMRAAM and Sidewinder missiles,
00:31one of which can be seen on the wingtip launch rail.
00:35This photo is wallpaper material. What do you all think?
00:40However, they are not the only ones flying to protect Ukraine because the Army aviation pilots
00:45take off day after day to carry out attack missions, resupply, transport and air defense
00:51all along the front lines.
00:53For years, the defenders have been asking the United States to transfer some Black Hawk
00:57helicopters, but Putin will not allow his Agent Orange to give the green light to that operation.
01:03Therefore, it is likely that soon we will start seeing some Portuguese and former British Puma
01:08helicopters flying with these brave crews.
01:15On the technological front, the operators of the Unmanned Ground Vehicle Battalion, Alter Ego,
01:21belonging to the 93rd Mechanized Brigade Colon VR, have been identified as the first designers
01:27and combat users of an aerial launch system for ground-based attack robots,
01:32capable of operating dozens of kilometers behind enemy lines.
01:35The system, called Dezantnik, or paratrooper in English, uses heavy bomber drones to transport and release a compact kamikaze ground
01:44robot.
01:45Surprisingly, the system went from idea to prototype, in just 10 days.
01:49Through this marsupial-type approach, in which one unmanned system carries and releases another.
01:56The engineers at Alter Ego, working under enemy fire, solved the practical challenges related to payload, launch accuracy,
02:04communications with the systems, and the mobility of the ground unit in the field, which had crippled previous programs.
02:10A specially designed launch mechanism allows the bomber drone to deploy the paratrooper using a cable, releasing it precisely at
02:18the chosen point.
02:20Once on the ground, the robot operates autonomously to attack personnel, shelters, and fortified positions of the invaders.
02:27The Brave One technology cluster, immediately recognized the potential of this tactic, and got in touch with the Alter Ego
02:34team, to connect them with a manufacturer,
02:36so that the system could go from prototype to mass production as quickly as possible, and thus make it available
02:42to all defense forces,
02:44which will allow more brigades to deploy armed ground robots, beyond minefields, rivers, and areas of dense vegetation,
02:51which currently limit assault vehicles' direct advance into Russian rear areas.
02:55The Alter Ego Battalion of the 93rd Brigade is the first unit dedicated exclusively to operating ground drones,
03:02and has already carried out hundreds of logistical, evacuation, and attack missions.
03:07The 3rd Army Corps demonstrated during Operation Vivaldi similar capabilities for deep insertion of robotic assets,
03:14using Griffing heavy bombers, which confirms that this tactic is spreading organically across the entire front.
03:22Meanwhile, the 3rd Army Corps of Ukraine continues to consolidate the territory, regained north of Lyman.
03:29The Deputy Commander of the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Rodion Kudryashov, has published a detailed analysis of the lessons learned so
03:36far in Operation Vivaldi.
03:38In it, he emphasizes that the offensive achieved its objective thanks to months of discrete preparation and rapid decision-making.
03:46Kudryashov's article highlights that although it is the infantry who ultimately retake the ground,
03:53the conditions for success are created much earlier.
04:01The 3rd Army Corps spent more than six months preparing the conditions for the operation,
04:06stabilizing a sector of the front that was deteriorating,
04:09trained its personnel, integrated unmanned systems,
04:12and established a logistic system capable of withstanding the invaders' constant attacks.
04:19Kudryashov argues that the invaders' superiority in manpower and industrial capacity makes a direct unit-to-unit confrontation
04:25unsustainable for Ukraine in the long term.
04:29For this reason, every Ukrainian military resource must have a greater impact than a Russian one.
04:34This requires reducing the time between detecting a problem and taking action to solve it from hours to minutes,
04:40so it is necessary to give more autonomy to mid-level commanders to make decisions and to treat logistics
04:46and intelligence as integral elements of combat, not just as mere support functions.
04:51Technology is only able to multiply the reach of force when it is integrated into a coherent command system.
04:59Connell describes Operation Vivaldi as an ongoing composition that so far has only revealed its opening movements.
05:05The stated objective is that after the final movements of the Ukrainian symphony,
05:11Russian forces can only hear Mozart's Requiem.
05:15A nearly two-month-long Ukrainian clearing operation west of Druskivka has dismantled a Russian force that,
05:22according to Kyiv, was concentrating to try to cut off the supply routes of the forces defending the city
05:27in order to make their way toward Dogropelia.
05:31The announcement, made on September 23 by the Azov Corps of the 1st Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard,
05:37is summarized in this map showing the elimination of the entire salient and the restoration of Ukrainian
05:42control over eight settlements.
05:45Azov reported that the first assault groups advanced on August 7 against Russian units of the 90th Tank
05:51Division and the 8th Combined Arms Army, which had been concentrating over the summer near Shakove.
05:58That group was trying to advance toward Druskivka, enabling a subsequent offensive against Dobropilia,
06:04which is located at the southern end of the belt of fortress cities of Slovyansk and Kramatorsk,
06:09and where Ukrainian fortifications are less dense than around the two main cities.
06:16A successful Russian breakthrough at that point would not have meant the capture of Druskivka,
06:20but it would have turned the city's supply lines into an easy target for enemy fire and would have
06:25forced Ukrainian commanders to defend the urban center from a new direction.
06:29A method that has already become common on this front was used.
06:33Artillery and small attack drones first isolated the Russian concentration area.
06:38Next, assault groups advanced through areas of dense vegetation to eliminate the invaders' infantry units.
06:45It moved through the area where Russian forces were concentrated, acting as precision artillery.
06:51The loss of the salient will force Russian commanders to look for another point to deploy new assault groups
06:55and will give Ukraine more time to reinforce the southern approaches to Slovyansk and Kramatorsk.
07:04On the same front, a video recorded by a reconnaissance drone shows the state of the village of Vilitsky,
07:10located on the approaches to Dobropylia, where you can see the devastation caused by years of attacks with glide bombs,
07:17artillery duels, and infantry fighting in a settlement that, until 2022, was home to about 7,700 inhabitants.
07:25From the air, it no longer appears to be a functional city.
07:29Rows of four- and five-story Soviet-style residential buildings remain without windows blackened by fire.
07:36In addition, the streets that once connected the mines, a processing plant, and the town's small
07:42shopping center are now blocked. The military value of the town is based on its location,
07:48as it sits on the eastern approaches to the city of Bodiansk. On the other side lies Dobropylia,
07:54which is the node the invaders are trying to use as a southern pincer in a maneuver to encircle the
08:00belt of fortress cities of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. The northern pincer of this maneuver is on the
08:07Lyman axis. Even though Moscow announced the capture of Dobropylia, the Institute for the Study of War
08:12has placed the closest confirmed Russian presence more than 10 kilometers from the southeastern edge of
08:17the city. If you want to see additional content about the war in Ukraine, I invite you to visit
