00:18so the response videos started piling in.
00:20The cup sweats, the ice melts, one wrong drip,
00:23and all of a sudden you have a stain on your clothes.
00:26Gen Z candidates pushed back.
00:28Inc. flagged a LinkedIn post from a job seeker
00:30asking why after all these automated screenings
00:33and rejection emails that explain nothing,
00:35now we're analyzing the fact someone's walking in
00:37with a $6 iced coffee?
00:39Which makes this an argument about who writes the rules.
00:42In a Washington Post roundtable,
00:44a Gen Z staffer said professionalism
00:46is whatever companies want it to be.
00:48But the complaints about Gen Z aren't new.
00:51Last year, Resume.org surveyed 765 hiring managers
00:54who had each interviewed at least three Gen Z candidates.
00:57More than half said candidates showed up unprepared.
01:00One in six caught a candidate on their phone mid-interview,
01:03and one in nine had a candidate bring in a parent,
01:06partner, or friend into the room.
01:08No mention of drinks.
01:09The career strategist at Resume Templates isn't surprised
01:13saying years ago millennials were labeled the same way.
01:16Every generation gets called entitled and unprofessional on the way in.
01:20For instance, Gen X was labeled the slacker generation.
01:23So the complaints don't change.
01:25This year, it's just about the iced coffee.
