Born during the Prophet’s lifetime, Abu Tufail (RA) witnessed the final years of the Prophetic era and later lived through the major transformations of the early Islamic world — from the age of the Rightly Guided Caliphs to the political conflicts and upheavals that followed.
His lifetime connected two very different generations: the generation that had known the Prophet ﷺ and the generations that came after the Companions.
The documentary also examines historical reports concerning Abu Tufail (RA), accounts about the last surviving Companion, differing reports about the date of his death, and the narrations and memories preserved by later Muslim scholars.
This is more than the biography of one Companion. It is a journey through nearly a century of early Islamic history, seen through the life of a man who stood at the meeting point of two generations.
