00:07For the people of Lordswood in Chatham, it's become an everyday sight.
00:12Neil Banks has been walking five kilometres around the area every day to raise money for breast cancer now.
00:19For quite a while we've been talking about doing something for charity,
00:23but I've always been one to try and want to stand out when we do something.
00:26Rather than do the same thing that other people are doing,
00:28I thought, well, how can we maximise as much money as possible when we're trying to raise the money?
00:33So he came up with this idea.
00:35It was Neil's mum who motivated him to take on the challenge.
00:40In 2021, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but fortunately it was caught early and her treatment was successful.
00:49One of the reasons we wanted to raise money for breast cancer now is a while about speaking to my
00:53mum
00:53and she was speaking about how even though she's won a physical battle in the eyes of medical,
00:58reasons, she speaks about her mental battle just starting and still happening even to this day.
01:04So I had about any new bump, lump or any cough that lasts more than a week and the brain
01:08starts going.
01:09The people here in Lordswood have been loving Neil's different and extravagant costumes.
01:15They've been waving, stopping to say hello and beeping their horns.
01:22I think the giraffe outfit is brilliant.
01:24It takes a lot of courage to do it and look, all the plauders to him really.
01:29I think he's done well.
01:30They're absolutely amazing.
01:32I love seeing every one, every day.
01:34It's a different one.
01:35Absolutely brilliant.
01:36But what has walking every day in different costumes really been like?
01:41I obviously expected I'd get seen.
01:43I didn't think I'd go for a whole month without being seen.
01:45What I didn't expect though is the positive response from the entire community.
01:51Yeah, I'll be honest, it's really blown me away.
01:53It's turned into one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.
01:56So far, Neil has raised over £2,000, which is double his original target.
02:02I'm one of them people, if we hit a target, we enjoy the moment, then raise the target again.
02:08So I mean, I'd love to finish and get £3,000 now.
