00:00Time is short. What is your life? It is like a vapor that appears for a little while and then
00:08disappears. If someone had told me when I was 20 years old that life was extremely short and that
00:15the years would pass this quickly, I probably wouldn't have believed them. And if I tell you
00:22that today, perhaps you don't believe it either. It is difficult to make young people understand
00:29just how brief life really is and how quickly it passes. It seems like only yesterday that I was
00:36in school. Every one of us has been given the same amount of time each day. 1,440 minutes every
00:44day,
00:46168 hours every week. And if God allows us to live 70 years, even that is only a limited amount
00:53of time.
00:55It is interesting that with all of our medical science and modern technology, we still have never
01:01escaped that limitation. The average American man today lives around 70 years and the average woman
01:10around 73 years. More people may live into their 70s, but our time on this earth is still limited.
01:20And when you really think about it, what an incredible thing it is to realize that you have only one
01:26short life to live. And soon, it will be over. If I truly understood that, I would write down my
01:35priorities in life. And I would commit myself to those priorities. Now is the time. The things you know
01:43you should do. Do them now. The classes you've been meaning to take. Take them now. The books you've
01:52been wanting to read. Read them now. The family that needs your time. Give them your time now. That letter
02:01you've been meaning to write. Write it now. The money you know you should give. Give it now. The time

02:09need for study. Use it now. The people you need to speak to about your faith. Speak to them now.
02:17Every time the clock moves forward, it seems to remind us of one word. Now. Today, if you hear his
02:25voice,
02:27listen, because there may not always be a tomorrow for you and for me. There is a warning in time.
02:34Time is running out for every one of us. And time is far too short for hesitation and indecision.
02:41Do not remain stuck between two choices. Do not keep waiting. Do not keep telling yourself that you
02:48have plenty of time. Fools say that time is long. But every morning, we are given 86,400 seconds to
02:56spend
02:57and to invest. Every single day, the bank called Time opens a new account for you and for me.
03:05But there is something very different about this bank. You cannot carry yesterday's balance into today.
03:12You cannot borrow tomorrow's time. There are no overdrafts. And if you fail to use today's deposit,
03:20the loss belongs to you. The Bible tells us to redeem the time because the days are evil.
03:27And when you look at the world in which we are living, you can see just how serious those words
03:33are.
03:35If there was ever a time when the gospel was needed to transform the human heart, it is now.
03:42Jesus said that while it is day, we must do the work of the one who sent us.
03:48Because the night is coming and no one can work.
03:51That night will eventually come into every life.
03:55Yet there was a remarkable peace in the way Jesus lived and worked.
04:00And perhaps that teaches us something important.
04:04It is not simply the length of your life that matters.
04:07It is the quality of your life.
04:10Jesus lived only 33 years.
04:13And his earthly life ended on the cross.
04:16To the world, it may have looked like failure.
04:20But at the end of his life, he could say,
04:24I have finished the work you gave me to do.
04:28And that raises an important question for every one of us.
04:32It doesn't matter whether you live another year, or two years, or five years.
04:38Will your work be finished?
04:41Will there be quality in the way you live?
04:44Will there be dedication in the things you do?
04:48What if every one of us gave a portion of our time to witnessing for Christ?
04:52Just as we give a portion of our income to the church?
04:55What would happen if we truly understood the value of the time we've been given?
05:00Fill your heart with the Word of God.
05:02I have found that those who know the Scriptures
05:04are often the ones who have strength and power in difficult times.
05:09But what we need today are men and women
05:11who genuinely walk with God.
05:15People who understand that life is short
05:17that time is precious
05:20and that every day is an opportunity
05:23and if you choose to walk with God
05:27you too can finish the work that God has given you to do.
05:31So help us understand the brevity of life
05:34help us understand the urgency of time
05:37and help us understand that the little time we have
05:41should not be wasted.
05:43May we invest the time we've been given
05:46in the Kingdom of God.
