00:01The Attorney General's Chambers, or AGC, has filed an appeal against the Shah Alam High Court's
00:07decision to acquit a 15-year-old teenager charged with murdering a schoolmate in Bandar Utama last
00:13year. In a statement issued on Thursday, the AGC said the appeal was filed at the Court of Appeal
00:19on Tuesday against the High Court's decision. It said the decision to appeal was made after
00:25thoroughly considering the High Court judge's ruling. The teenager was charged with killing 16-year-old
00:30Yapxing Xuen in Bandar Utama on October 14 last year. He was acquitted on grounds of insanity on
00:37September 14. Following the decision, the victim's mother called on supporters to sign a petition
00:43urging the AGC to appeal against the acquittal. The teenager is currently undergoing treatment and
00:49counseling at Hospital Bahagya Ulukinta until medical authorities assess him as fit to rejoin
00:54society.
