00:00We're heading into week three of the NFL season tomorrow night as the Atlanta Falcons, and
00:06again, it's kind of crazy.
00:08We're in three weeks into it, and we're saying, are they in a must-win situation?
00:13Well, history tells us they're in a must-win situation, because teams in the NFC, it's
00:19been over 30 years since anybody started 0-3 and made it to the postseason.
00:24Now, I do find it interesting, Greg, and it called me crazy, Penix Jr. was the starter,
00:29was always going to be the starter.
00:31He was the starter last year when he got hurt.
00:33He was, no matter what they did with Tua, he was always going to be the starter this
00:38year.
00:38So essentially, Cooper Rush and whatever that other guy is that they brought in here over
00:44the weekend, you're basically your number three and four quarterbacks.
00:48I don't understand.
00:50I'm getting my starting quarterback back here in a desperate situation, and it feels like
00:56this line just hasn't, it hasn't moved enough for me.
00:59I think we're going to see a very spirited and different Falcons team in this game.
01:06And by the way, if they don't, then is this guy really the future of your organization?
01:12Yeah, look, it's still, in the end, an extremely tough spot for Penix to make his first start
01:19after being hurt for a long time.
01:21Having to go to Green Bay, that is a difficult place to play.
01:25Not as tough in November as, you know, right now is much easier than it is in November,
01:31and it is my favorite venue of all the ones that I've ever been to.
01:35It's just a great, great atmosphere.
01:37But it's not like Packer fans are yelling at the Falcons, you know?
01:40Like, this is not one of those matchups that is like a rivalry-type situation.
01:45And going back to what you said, I think that if Tua, who signed with Atlanta, had played
01:52well, Joe, I think that it was conceivable to think that Tua could have just ran a few
01:57games, you know, three, four, five, seven.
01:59You know, like Kirk Cousins, you know?
02:01Kirk Cousins probably bought himself, I mean, at least four or five more weeks, I would guess,
02:05for the Raiders, based on how he played in the first two.
02:09You know, when Penix played, Joe, the Atlanta offense, I mean, say what you want, their defense
02:14is banged up.
02:14The Atlanta offense was much better.
02:16And it's going to be much better, I think, for Thursday night.
02:20Yeah, I think it's going to be okay.
02:21If you look at the numbers of B. John Robinson and Drake London with Penix in there, they're
02:28really good.
02:28The issue is that the Falcons lost a lot of tight games with Penix because he turned the
02:32ball over late in a lot of games last year via fumble or via interception.
02:37So I think that could happen again.
02:39I'm really uncomfortable playing Green Bay, watching them play, Joe.
02:43Like, I don't know.
02:44Like, I mean, they, I liked going in.
02:47Now it's hard to say that I still do because of Caleb Williams being out, maybe not very
02:51long, but I definitely liked the Bears more than the Packers.
02:56And I definitely like the Vikings more than the Packers.
02:59But the Packers just have this extremely soft spot coming up on Thursday night where you
03:04just don't really think they have to do all that much to win.
03:08So I really don't have a strong one on this.
03:10And I guess by tomorrow night, I'll, I'll get something going here, but I'm, I'm sort
03:14of seeing Packers win, but Falcons play great and cover, you know, like I, I kinda, I see,
03:20I see a similar game to the Jets game.
03:23Like that's that to the Jets Packers game where I could see Atlanta, you know, going
03:28down the field and going up seven, nothing, you know, and then Green Bay makes it seven
03:32three and then it's seven and then it's 10, three or 10, seven Green Bay.
03:36And then it's 17, seven Green Bay.
03:38And then it's 17, 14.
03:39Like I, I, I think Atlanta's got a shot to keep this close, but as I stated last week,
03:45I was so disappointed with how the Falcons played.
03:47I didn't expect them to win.
03:49Uh, but I didn't expect them to get blown out like that.
03:52And when you play a team that loses by 30, the Carolina Panthers at home, I think you
03:55got to take a step back.
03:57So I'm probably just going to watch tomorrow night's game and try and find some props with
04:01it.
04:02Yeah.
04:03I, I, and you know what it is too.
04:04We have not seen the B. John Robinson effect yet.
04:07And the reason why Craig is that again, is I mentioned this yesterday and we were laughing.
04:12The Falcons are the only team in the NFL that has not run one play inside the red zone.
04:18Not one.
04:19They have not run a single play inside the other team's 20 yard line here.
04:25How do you utilize a guy like B. John Robinson?
04:29If there's no threat of the past, Craig, and there's no, there's, there's zero.
04:33And I give the guy credit.
04:35He's averaging 4.3 point, uh, 4.4 yards of carry.
04:39And that's what defense is knowing.
04:41They can't pass the ball there.
04:43He's still going to run.
04:44I think Pennix Jr. at the very least, the threat of the past and his ability to push
04:50the ball will open things up for B. John.
04:52I think it's a B. John big night, but I still can't believe not one play inside their opponent's
04:5920 yard line is amazing to me, Craig.
05:01It's just absolutely amazing.
05:02You know, what's even more staggering when you really think about it.
05:06When we did our exercise of backup quarterbacks going into the season, we, we both felt that
05:12Cooper Rush was in the top 15 backups was a good signing.
05:17Yeah.
05:18And, and now you think he's the worst in the entire league based on what you've seen.
05:22So what does that tell you about the rest of the backup show in the NFL?
05:26If Cooper Rush looked as bad as it could be.
