The episode opens with a critical moment for Anna and Jack; the doctors have only one defibrillator, yet one of them decides to save the unborn baby as well. Anna survives the crisis, but Jack remains in a coma for months. Anna begins to reveal the true culprit to the authorities, while Janet plots to destroy both her and Jack. Months later, Jack’s mother, Betty, helps Anna settle into the Long Island beach house—the very home where Jack had dreamed of living with Anna and their unborn child. While in his hospital bed, Jack is plagued by nightmares about Janet and his dream life with Anna. A grim event shifts the dynamics of the Wozny family: Anna gives birth to a baby girl on Christmas Day. As Anna delivers the baby, Kevin recognizes Janet but loses consciousness; meanwhile, Janet decides to kill Jack, and just as the baby enters the world, the monitor connected to Jack begins to beep.
